Baghdadlian Pushes Out Gold

Action began preflop with 2006 Main Event Champion Jamie Gold raising to 1,000 from early position and receiving a call from Joseph Baghdadlian in middle position.
The flop came 2♠9♠6♣. Gold counted out 1,600 and put it in front of him. Baghdadlian considered his next move for a few moments before tossing in a call.
The 5♥ came on the turn. Gold checked to Baghdadlian, who bet 2,000. Gold mucked his cards.
"Seven-eight?" Gold asked Baghdadlian, but got no response other than a smile from Baghdadlian. "Nice hand," said Gold.

Drake Settsu bet 2,500 from the big blind on a flop of A♠Q♣K♣. He received only one caller, the button.
The turn came 7♥. Settsu then put out 5,300 and was again called. The river came A♥. Settsu threw out two red chips for a bet of 10,000. His opponent deliberated for thirty seconds before folding, which awarded Settsu the pot without a showdown.

Daniels Wins Battle of the Blinds

Action folded all the way to Mike Daniels in the small blind who flicked in a call. The big blind then raised to 400. Daniels thought for only a moment before making the call.
The 8♠5♠5♦ hit the felt and Daniels checked it over to the big blind who put out a bet of 400. Daniels took his time and then opted to put in the check-raise to 1,400. The big blind made the call and they were off to a turn.
The 7♣ was burned and turned and Daniels now led for 2,000. Once again the big blind made the call.
The 3♦ landed on the river and Daniels bet once more to the tune of 5,000. This time the big blind thought for only a moment before making the fold.
Daniels won a nice pot early to gain some momentum with lots of tournament left to play.

Montoya Smashes The Flop

Action was recapped by Camille Brown at a table where a players was exiting the tournament.
Isero Montoya called in early position which saw a player in middle position raise to 400 which Montoya called.
The flop rolled off 10♦10♠8♠ and Montoya check called a bet of 400 from his opponent.
Montoya checked the turn of Q♣ and his opponent sized up to 1,200 which he called once more.
On the river Q♠, Montoya led out for 3,500 which saw his opponent raise to the tune of 12,000. Montoya moved all in for 25,000 effective and his opponent called.

Montoya had flopped four tens to give himself a lock on the hand and his opponent could not catch up, giving him an early boost to the stack.

Prabu Gets Aggressive Early

Action folded to an early position player who opened to 300. The player next to act made the call and action folded to Obli Prabu in middle position who opted to three bet to 1,800. When the action was back on the original raiser they thought for a minute but ultimately folded, however, the other player left in the hand made the call. The players were off to a flop heads up.
The A♦K♠4♦ flop hit the felt and when action was checked to Prabu he opted to bet the flop with a sizing of 1,400. His opponent made the call.
The 7♣ landed on the turn and Prabu opted to size up to 3,000. This time his opponent thought for about a minute before returning his cards to the dealer.
Prabu flashed the A♠ when the hand was over and dragged a nice pot early.
