Event #16: $25,000 High Roller (8-Handed)

Dia 2 Começado

Welcome Back to Day 2 of $25,000 High Roller

Freddy Deeb
Freddy Deeb

It is poker's version of "Moving Day" as 93 players return to the felt for Day 2 of Event #16: $25,000 High Roller at the 2023 World Series of Poker. Players will continue to jockey for position throughout the day as the money bubble approaches and the final table will take place on this event's third and final day.

Calvin Anderson is leading the way after a stellar Day 1, who bagged a whopping 1,609,000 chips, especially considering he only played a few levels. Anderson was one of the late entries but put his starting stack to quick use as he vaulted up the leaderboard to bag the overall chip lead. Hot on his tail is "old-schooler" Freddy Deeb, who will be looking to add to his WSOP bracelet collection with 1,441,000 chips.

Some other big stacks to keep an eye on include Brian Kim (1,291,000), Isaac Haxton (1,195,000), and Alex Nguyen (1,060,000) as the only other players with seven-figure stacks. The field is also littered with many other big names in the poker world including two WSOP Main Event champions Espen Jorstad (377,000) and Joe McKeehen (320,000).

The cards are scheduled to go in the air at 12:00 p.m. PDT, at which point late registration will close. Those making a last-ditch effort to enter the field will be given a starting stack of 150,000 chips with the blinds set to resume on Level 9 at 5,000/10,000 and a 10,000 big blind ante. All of the action today will take place inside the Horseshoe alongside the feature tables.

Another 10 levels are on the schedule today with the money bubble expected to burst later on in the evening. The levels will continue to be 60 minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every two levels. There is a 60-minute dinner break scheduled for after Level 14 today.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be here to bring you all of the action throughout the day including the money bubble and who advances to Day 3 tomorrow.

Justin Saliba opened to 22,000 in early position and Dylan Linde shipped all in for 200,000 in the hijack. Brian Kim just called from the cutoff and the rest of the table folded including Saliba.

Dylan Linde: AQ
Brian Kim: AK

Kim was in a dominating position and the flop of K108 gave him a commanding lead with a pair of kings. The K and 8 runout was no help to Linde who was bounced in the opening minutes of Day 2.

Vieira Makes Quads

Nível 9 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Sergi Reixach moved in his final 39,000 from middle position and action folded around to the big blind who called.

Sergi Reixach: AK
Opponent: A4

The board ran out Q10696 and Reixach doubled his stack through the big blind.

The following hand saw Joao Vieira raise to 20,000 in middle position which saw action fold over to the small blind this time who three bet to 70,000. Vieira moved all in for 250,000 effective and the small blind snap called to put himself at risk.

Opponent: QQ
Joao Vieira: JJ

The flop of 9JJ left very little hope for the small blind to survive and the 86 runout ensured that he would be eliminated from the tournament.

$25,000 Turbo for Ivey

Nível 9 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

The action folded around to Phil Ivey on the button who ripped all in for just shy of 100,000. Turbo Nguyen called with a very similar stack from the big blind and the cards were tabled.

Phil Ivey: J9
Turbo Nguyen: A2

The flop came AK2 and Nguyen picked up two pair to take a big lead. The 3 and 3 runout was no help to Ivey who only lasted a short time in the $25,000 High Roller event.
