On Sunday, the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continued with Day 3 action from Event #7: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better. The day began with 26 players from a massive 1,087-player field with the plan of playing down to a winner. However, after 12.5 hours of play, two players still remained in contention and will return for an impromptu Day 4.

Longtime poker pro Amnon Filippi is the favorite to win holding the chip lead with 19,525,000. However, another poker pro, Matt Vengrin, looks to stand in his way and has a decent enough shot with 7.7 million. The two played heads-up for the better part of the last level until the floor called a hard stop and instructed them to bag up and resume at 3 p.m. local time on Monday.

One of those players will walk away with their first WSOP gold bracelet and a $252,718 top prize.

Vengrin Spikes Pure One Outer on River to Stay Alive

Matt Vengrin
Matt Vengrin

Amnon Filippi raised to 800,000 from the button and Matt Vengrin defended to see a flop of {10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Spades}.

Vengrin checked, Filippi bet, and the former check-raised to 800,000. Filippi called and the dealer burned and turned the {9-Spades}.

Vengrin bet 800,000, Filippi popped it to 1.6 million, and Vengrin thought long and hard before calling, which left him just 750,000 behind.

When the {10-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Vengrin bet all in and Filippi called.

"I have quads," Vengrin said and tabled the {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. That caused Filippi to shoot out of his chair.

"You have jacks?" Chino Rheem asked from the rail.

"Of course I have jacks," a stunned Filippi said before showing the {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for a flopped full house.

It was a brutal river card that gave Vengrin new life.

Ronan Nally Eliminated in 9th Place ($19,672)

Nível 33 : 200,000/400,000, 0 ante
Ronan Nally
Ronan Nally

This crazy hand started with Murilo Figueredo all in with his small blind, and he vowed not to look until the end. Matt Glantz in early position then raised, which Mel Judah on the button called. Then action was on short-stacked Rolan Nally in the big blind, who thought for a second then just called, leaving only one big bet behind.

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, which saw a bet from Glantz and a call from Judah, sending Nally into the tank. After a good while of playing with his last chips, he smacked them down on the felt with a call. Now that Figueredo and Nally were all in, Glantz and Judah were going heads up to a turn.

The {j-Hearts} turn went bet-call by Glantz and Judah, respectively.

The {3-Spades} river produced the same bet-call from Glantz and Judah.

Now the four hands were tabled, starting with the side pot of Glantz and Judah.

Glantz showed {a-}{a-}{4-}{2-} for one pair, aces, for the high and the nut low while Judah showed {a-}{j-}{4-}{2-} to chop the low. Glantz was then awarded three-quarters of the side pot.

Meanwhile, Figueredo slowly peeled his cards and excitedly threw down {j-}{10-}{k-}{7-} for top two pair to win half of the main pot to stay alive.

Nally then tabled his hand to show {k-}{q-}{10-}{6-} for no low and a lesser pair than Glantz, meaning he was out of the tournament in ninth place for ($19,672)
