Joker Card on the Flop During a $1M Gtd. Poker Tournament?

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Joker card on the flop?
Joker card on the flop?

The 2022 PokerNews Cup at Golden Nugget has been a rousing success, easily surpassing the $1 million guarantee, and there's one hand that will probably be talked about for quite some time.

During Monday's Day 2 session in the $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament, an odd flop appeared at one of the tables on the very first hand. The flop came out {2-Hearts}, {9-Hearts}, and Joker. Yes, a Joker was somehow left in the deck, and one player seated at another table captured the hand on video, which was then posted on the PokerNews YouTube channel.

Crooks Scoops Woods

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
James Woods
James Woods

Action was caught on a {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop. James Woods had around 40,000, which put him all in. He was facing his neighbor, one of the biggest stacks in this room, Richard Crooks.

James Woods: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Richard Crooks: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

James Woods made two-pair on that flop but the turn {k-Spades} gave a better two-pair to Crooks. The river {2-Spades} completed that board but it did not change anything, Woods was eliminated.

Madsen Doubles Through Morovosz

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen

Mihails Morozovs raised to pot of 21,000 preflop in the hijack and in the cutoff, Jeff Madsen moved in his stack of 53,000 with all other players folding except Morozovs who called.

Jeff Madsen: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Mihails Morozovs: {a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{k-Spades} and Madsen's aces held to win the pot, leaving Morozovs with just 6,000 left. He was eliminated shortly thereafter.

Jacob Brundage Bubbles Event #58: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Darryll Fish called in first position and the small blind called with Jacob Brundage posting his last 6,000.

The flop came out {2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} and the small blind checked to Fish who bet 6,000 which produced a fold from the small blind.

Jacob Brundage: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}
Darryll Fish: {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades}

The turn of {4-Diamonds} left Brundage drawing dead before the {10-Hearts} river hit and the remaining 196 players all guaranteed themselves $2,404.

Seven Is Always Coming

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

First to act, Jason Adams raised it to 12,000 and Scott Baumstein called from the big blind.
Then, on a {3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, Baumstein check-called 10,000 to the turn {9-Hearts} before he led 40,000. Adams raised all in for 142,000 and Baumstein called.

Jason Adams: {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}
Scott Baumstein: {2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts}

Those two players are probably going to split that pot, with Baumstein holding a straight, and Adams with the A-2 for the Lo. But Jason Adam just called for the only card which could make it scoop that pot.

"Seveeen", screamed Adam. The dealer put a {7-Clubs} on the river to achieve that board, and Adam took everything after he made a higher straight.

"Dealer, next hand please", said the tournament director on the microphone, "a guy called for a seven, and he hit it !"

Kerber Takes The Rest Of Miner

Nível 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

After a raise in early position from Kevin Kerber to 21,000, Benjamin Miner announced pot for almost 75,000. Kerber tanked for a while before he called. Both players had around 50,000 behind.

On a {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop, Kerber put the rest of his chips into the middle and Miner snap-called.

Benjamin Miner: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{4-Spades}
Kevin Kerber: {a-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The turn {5-Spades} gave a straight to Kerber and Miner was drawing only for a chop pot for the low, or for an ace to win the high. But the river {j-Diamonds} was no help for Miner.

Benjamin Miner had exactly 47,000, against 50,000 for Kerber, and is eliminated. Two more players to eliminate and we'll reach the money.
