The 2022 World Series of Poker at Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas is slowly gearing up for the showcase $10,000 Main Event and the next major highlight on the schedule begins today. Considered to be the Main Event for all mixed game enthusiasts, the $50,000 Poker Players Championship is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. local time and will certainly gather some of the biggest names in the world of poker.
It has been running ever since Chip Reese won the first edition of the prestigious championship back in 2006 and consistently attracts a star-studded field. During the first four editions, the $50,000 Poker Players Championship featured a H.O.R.S.E. game rotation and has since seen several changes to the variants included.
The renowned event is current played in a nine-game format that rotates evenly between No-Limit Hold'em, Seven Card Stud, Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, Razz, Pot-Limit Omaha, Limit Hold'em, Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better, No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw, and 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw.
Defending champion of the high-stakes mixed game contest is Dan Cates who came out on top of a 63-entry strong field to become the latest PPC champion and had his name engraved on the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy — a tradition since 2008 following Reese's untimely passing.
The list of former champions is a "who's who" of the live poker circuit and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi won the title three times, which is widely considered to be one of the most notable achievements in the history of the WSOP. Besides Mizrachi, only Brian Rast won the title more than once after he triumphed in 2011 and 2016 respectively.

The five-day tournament will be played on six-handed tables throughout the entire contest and will combine to an unofficial final table once only seven contenders remain. All contestants will receive 300,000 in chips to start and reentries are not possible (freeze out format).
All levels during the tournament will last 100 minutes each and players will get 15-minute breaks after every level. While Day 1 concludes after the end of level six, late registration remains open until the start of level 11 at approximately 10:20 p.m. on Monday, June 27.
Among those to win their seats in one of the available satellites are Shaun Deeb, Patrick Leonard and Ismael Bojang. They will be surrounded by mixed game specialists from all over the world in pursuit of one of live poker's pinnacle tournaments.

Today is the final flight for the B]$1,100 buy-in, $1,000,000 Guaranteed PokerNews Cup[/B] at Golden Nugget Las Vegas! Late registration will close at approximately 8:45 p.m. local time.
The tournament featured three starting flights and the surviving players from each flight will return at Noon on Monday, June 27 to play down to the final table, which will play out at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28.
PokerNews will be on-site throughout the duration to offer live updates, videos, social media content, and more.

After the second draw, David Benyamine checked to Chris Fraser who bet. Phil Ivey called and so did Benyamine.
Benyamine drew two, Fraser stood pat and Ivey drew two. It checked to Fraser who bet, and again Ivey called. Benyamine folded.
Fraser stood pat and Ivey drew one. Fraser bet and after giving it some thought, Ivey called but was shown 
by his opponent.

Fraser Remains Active in Triple Draw

Limit 2-7 Triple Draw
The only other notable hand in Triple Draw featured Chris Fraser and Ali Eslami with the latter defending the big blind against a raise by Chris Fraser. On the first draw, both discarded two and checked to then discard two again. Eslami bet and Fraser called for Eslami to call.
On the final draw, Eslami took one while Fraser patted. Eslami check-called a bet and mucked when Fraser tabled the 
. Fraser then lost two small pots against Eslami and David Benyamine when neither hand made it to the final draw.

Rogers Joins the Field

No-Limit Hold'em
One new entry made it a full ring table and all players introduced each other by their first name, which now included John David Rogers. The investment banker prefers Dave and was almost immediately involved in the action in the second orbit of the day.
But first up, David Benyamine raised to 3,500 on the button and Eli Elezra defended the big blind to then check-fold the 
flop.
Shortly after, Ali Eslami raised to 3,500 in the hijack and Rogers came along out of the big blind. Rogers checked the 
flop and a bet worth 1,500 by Eslami won the pot.
In the next hand, Rogers raised to 4,000 in the small blind and Phil Ivey called in the big blind. Rogers led for 4,000 on the 
flop and Ivey tossed in a single T-5,000 chip for the call. The 
turn was checked by Rogers, who then folded when Ivey made it 10,000 to go.
"Yeah, that's my favourite player in the whole world," one of the guys on the rail said and clapped. Chris Fraser jokingly reacted to that and said "he was talking about me".
