Winner's Reaction

Before today, Schultz's biggest result was winning a circuit ring title in 2011 for $111,000. The Chicago native was asked by PokerNews what he expected today going into Day 2 and he said, ''I mean, winning a bracelet seemed so far away. I didn't even think it was possible''.

''This is way better'' said Schultz when asked how today feels versus the circuit ring win.

The 35-year-old ex-pat was questioned on his cool and calm demeanour going into action today. Schultz said he was ''really tuned in. I feel like I was prepared, so I was ready for all the spots that came at me. I wasn't nervous''.

To his lifestyle, living in Colombia and mostly grinding online mid-stakes tournaments, Schultz said he'd been out there for six years.

''It's cheaper, the cost of living. People are nice. Weather is good''.

Schultz will return to South America with over $330,000 in winnings, but more importantly, of course, the gold bracelet.

Day 2 Recap

Final table play started with Kevin Legerski's king-seven falling to Young Sik Eum's king-queen to send him out in ninth place. Mike Holtz was next to go, losing with ace-nine to Schultz's pocket jacks and exiting in eighth place.

Schultz then had a huge double with ace-king versus the ace-ten of Rubin, before Tony Dam busted in seventh to Schultz, where once again pocket jacks held up against ace-seven. Schultz then flipped it with ace-queen against pocket nines and eliminated Robert Hofer in sixth.

Momentum paused after Schultz doubled Eum up with fours running into sevens before Nick Palma was busted by Eum's turned nut straight in fifth. Schultz then got Harry Rubin to commit his stack with top pair against Schultz's over-pair to send Rubin out in fourth.

Eum then eliminated Angela Jordison in third after getting it all-in preflop and getting help on the river with an ace from space.

When they got heads-up, they traded stacks, but once Schultz got the chip lead, he didn't relinquish it, eventually busting Young Sik Eum when his ace-queen held up against Eum's jack-deuce.

That concludes events from today's WSOP. We will be back tomorrow with all the updates from Bally's and Paris for the latest events. Stay here at PokerNews for all the action.

Schultz Chips Away

Nível 36 : 300,000/600,000, 600,000 ante

On a flop of {5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Bryan Schultz bet 700,000, and Young Sik Eum called.

The turn paired the board with the {7-Spades}, and both players checked. On the {j-Clubs} river, Eum bet 4,000,000, and after a couple of seconds, Schultz called.

Eum sheepishly showed {8-}{9-} for a bluff, and Schultz tabled {3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for two-pair, winning the hand.

Young Sik Eum raised on the button, and Bryan Schultz called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and Schultz checked to Eum, who then bet 2,000,000 and Schultz called.

On the {8-Hearts} turn, Schultz check-called again when Eum bet 6,000,000.

On the {6-Hearts} river, both players checked.

Schultz then turned over {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for top pair, leading to a muck from Eum, and swelled Schultz's stack to over 38,000,000

Nível 33 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Angela Jordison

Young Sik Eum shoved all in from the small blind, enough to cover Angela Jordison, who called and was the player at risk.

Angela Jordison: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Young Sik Eum: {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds} board was looking good for Jordison, but Eum spiked the {a-Hearts} on the river to send the action heads-up. Jordison and her loud and fantastically supportive rail had to settle for $151,544.

Harry Rubin
Harry Rubin

After an open of 800,000 from Bryan Schultz, Harry Rubin called from the small blind and Young Sik Eun folded his big blind.

The flop of {3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} brought in a check from Rubin, who then called when Schultz bet 900,000.

When the {3-Clubs} fell on the turn, Schultz bet 2,200,000 after Rubin checked again. This time Rubin jammed for approximately 5,500,000 and Schultz didn't take long to call.

Harry Rubin: {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Bryan Schultz: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

The {5-Spades} river didn't change a thing, and Rubin exited in 4th, good for $113,532.
