WSOP Bracelet
WSOP Bracelet

A new event at the World Series of Poker is almost underway with Event #84: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller. Day 1 of the two-day tournament kicks off at 3 p.m. Pacific Time as the 2021 WSOP reaches its tail end.

Players will begin with a starting stack of 300,000 with blinds at 300/500 with a 500 ante paid by the big blind. Because the game is pot-limit, the ante only counts as part of the pot after the flop.

Day 1 will play for 17 40-minute levels with 15-minute breaks every three levels. Late registration will remain open for 12 levels. Day 2 will start up on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. and will play down to a winner, who will earn the lion's share of the prize pool and bracelet glory.

The high-roller PLO tournament is anticipated to attract world-class Omaha specialists and some of the top names in poker.

Stay tuned as the PokerNews live reporting team is ready to bring you updates on the PLO action. Be sure to check out the team's coverage of other WSOP events in the meantime.

Sam Soverel

Josh Arieh opened in middle position and Sam Soverel three-bet to 7,200 on the button. Arieh called.

Arieh checked on the {6-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Spades} flop and called a bet of 4,000 from Soverel. Arieh checked again on the {8-Diamonds} turn and Soverel checked back.

Arieh checked once more on the {8-Clubs} flop and Soverel threw out a bet of 10,000, to which Arieh responded with a check-raise to 37,000.

Soverel made a confused face under his black Ray-Ban sunglasses and studied the board before tossing in a call as his shot clock wound down. Arieh tabled {k-}{k-}{7-}{7-} for eights full of kings, while Soverel showed {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts} for eights full of aces and took down the sizeable pot.

Five players saw the flop on a board of {5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. Eric Kurtzman in middle position bet 25,000 before Noah Schwartz in the hijack raised to 82,000.

Next to act, AP Garza announced pot to 310,000 and everyone else folded. With action back on Schwartz, he went into the tank for more than a minute, tossing two time banks into the middle.

He eventually folded, angrily throwing his cards back to the dealer as Garza raked in the pot.

Nível 10 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Noah Schwartz

Six players limped into the pot and AP Garza jokingly juked a raise before checking his option in the big blind.

Noah Schwartz in the small blind led out into his six opponents with a bet of 13,000 on the flop of {5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Garza called. The action folded around to Laszlo Bujtas on the button, who raised to 50,000.

Schwartz announced "pot" for a raise to 195,000 and only Bujtas called. The turn brought the {3-Diamonds} and Schwartz bet the pot again to put himself all-in. Bujtas quickly called.

Noah Schwartz: {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Laszlo Bujtas: {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}

Both players had flopped wrap draws and turned the same straight. They chopped up what began as a family pot when the {3-Hearts} peeled off on the river.

"That was a big hand," Schwartz told his opponent. "Big hand."

Ka Kwan Lau
Ka Kwan Lau

Ka Kwan Lau nearly doubled up in a massive pot where he was all-in preflop for over 550,000 against an opponent who he had covered.

Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Ka Kwan Lau: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

Both players had aces heading to the flop of {j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, which didn't put either player in the lead. The {6-Spades} on the turn gave Lau a flush draw and the {9-Spades} on the river gave him the best hand to eliminate his opponent in one of the biggest pots of the day.

Josh Arieh got his last 202,000 chips in against Ka Kwan Lau on a flop of {5-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

Josh Arieh: {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

"Oh baby! Daddy's back," Arieh said as he dragged in the pot.

"What a heater. I had 14,000."

Arieh Doubles Again Through Lau, Tops One Million

Nível 11 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh

Shortly after Josh Arieh doubled up against Ka Kwan Lau, the two tangled in another massive pot that left Arieh the tournament chip leader.

Arieh got his last 515,000 in the middle on a flop of {9-Hearts}{3-Spades}{k-Spades} and flopped top set with {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Lau was drawing to a flush with {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

Lau completed the flush on the {7-Spades} turn and left Arieh needing the board to pair to stay alive in the tournament. He got that wish when the {7-Clubs} fell on the river.

"Did Josh get lucky again," Daniel Negreanu asked from another table.

"He had 14,000. Now he's chip leader," tablemate Robert Mizrachi replied.
