Laszlo Bujtas Eliminated in 5th Place ($279,168)

Nível 27 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Laszlo Bujtas
Laszlo Bujtas

Laszlo Bujtas raised to 700,000 from under the gun before Phil Hellmuth re-raised enough to put him all in. Bujtas called for 370,000 more.

Laszlo Bujtas: {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}
Phil Hellmuth: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

The flop came {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, giving Hellmuth top two pair and the nut flush draw. The {7-Spades} turn gave Bujtas outs to a straight and a flush.

"Hold, baby," Mike Matusow said from the rail.

The {q-Spades} on the river completed Bujtas' flush, but it also gave Hellmuth a full house to win the pot and send Bujtas home in fifth place.

Nível 26 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Alexander Petersen
Alexander Petersen

Alexander Petersen called from the small blind and Laszlo Bujtas checked his option. The flop came {2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and Petersen led out for 200,000.

Bujtas called to see the {q-Diamonds} turn. Petersen bet 880,000, Bujtas raised, and Petersen called for 1,050,000 total.

Alexander Petersen: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Laszlo Bujtas: {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Petersen had flopped a set of deuces to take the lead, while Bujtas was drawing to a gutshot straight. The {10-Spades} on the river improved Petersen to the broadway straight and ensured his double up.

Hellmuth Makes More WSOP History

Nível 26 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth's place in WSOP history was already solidified before this tournament as a 16-time bracelet winner and former Main Event champ. There is one more distinction he now owns: the most WSOP final tables in a single year.

This is Hellmuth's seventh appearance at a WSOP final table in 2021, breaking the record held by An Tran since 1992. All seven have come in a different poker discipline:

  • Sixth in Event #2: $25,000 H.O.R.S.E.
  • Fifth in Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
  • Fourth in Event #19: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship
  • First in Event #31: $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw
  • Second in Event #36: $10,000 Dealers Choice Championship
  • Eighth in Event #78: $10,000 Razz Championship

Jared Bleznick Eliminated in 6th Place ($212,223)

Nível 25 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Jared Bleznick
Jared Bleznick

Jared Bleznick raised to 420,000 from under the gun, leaving himself 390,000 behind, and called all in when Daniel Negreanu re-raised to 1,000,000.

Jared Bleznick: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Daniel Negreanu: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}

Bleznick was ahead with his pair of kings, but the {8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop gave Negreanu a flush draw which he completed on the {j-Diamonds} turn. Bleznick was already drawing dead by the time the dealer turned over the {8-Diamonds} river and was eliminated in sixth place.

Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

Jeremy Ausmus raised to 420,000 from the cutoff and Daniel Negreanu defended his big blind. The flop came {7-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} and Negreanu checked over to Ausmus, who bet 300,000.

Negreanu raised to 1,300,000 and Ausmus moved all in for 2,120,000. Negreanu called.

Jeremy Ausmus: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Daniel Negreanu: {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

Ausmus was ahead with his pair of queens and better flush draw. The turn came the {7-Hearts} and the river {3-Diamonds}, missing Negreanu and providing a double up for Ausmus.

Hellmuth Doubles Through Petersen In Hand That Extends Into Break

Nível 24 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Alexander Petersen and Phil Hellmuth went heads-up to a flop of {6-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, Petersen from middle position and Hellmuth in the big blind.

Petersen bet 300,000 and Hellmuth pushed his entire stack forward, a bet totaling 1,960,000 more.

"You probably don't have aces," Petersen said, muttering to himself all Hellmuth's potential hands.

"I'll take this one. You take the next one. Or you can double me up, my wife is here," Hellmuth responded.

Petersen went into the tank for more than five minutes, using up several of his time bank chips. He eventually decided to commit the chips.

Phil Hellmuth: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Alexander Petersen: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Hellmuth had top two pair, while Petersen had tens and a flush draw. Hellmuth filled up on the {6-Diamonds} turn, leaving Petersen with two outs heading to the river which he failed to hit when the {9-Spades} fell.

Hellmuth Pots Two Flops in a Row

Nível 24 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth opened in the cutoff and Laszlo Bujtas defended from the big blind. Hellmuth announced "pot" on the nine-high flop and Bujtas snap-folded.

The very next hand, Hellmuth opened to 350,000 in the hijack and Jeremy Ausmus came along from the big blind.

Like clockwork, Hellmuth announced "pot" when checked to on the {4-Spades}{a-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop and Ausmus quickly folded.

"That was exciting! Two in a row! Woo-hoo-hoo!" Hellmuth said as he rubbed his hands together.

Josh Arieh Eliminated in 7th Place ($165,452)

Nível 24 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Josh Arieh
Josh Arieh

Josh Arieh opened in middle position and Alexander Petersen defended from the big blind.

Petersen checked on the flop of {8-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and Arieh moved all-in for around 315,000. Petersen called.

Josh Arieh: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Alexander Petersen: {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

Petersen had a king-high flush to have Arieh in bad shape, but the {a-Spades} on the turn created a slight sweat as Arieh had full house outs. Sadly for the WSOP Player of the Year favorite, the river brought the {5-Diamonds} and he was eliminated in sixth place.

"I thought you were going to get there," Phil Hellmuth told Arieh suportively.

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu raised to 200,000 from early position and Josh Arieh called from the big blind. The flop came {9-Hearts}{j-Spades}{k-Hearts}, and Arieh check-called a bet of 260,000.

On the {a-Diamonds} turn, Negreanu bet another 640,000 and Arieh threw his hand in the muck.

The next hand, Negreanu raised to 200,000 once again and Jared Bleznick defended. Negreanu bet 275,000 on a flop of {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} before Bleznick check-raised to 650,000.

Negreanu called to see the {j-Diamonds} on the turn. Bleznick checked, allowing Negreanu to slam in a tower of 100,000 chips. Bleznick quickly folded.
