After only two hours of play in Event #79: $1,979 Hall Of Fame Bounty No-Limit Hold’em, it was Ole Schemion who came out on top, winning his first WSOP bracelet and $172,499.

“It’s not too often in live tournaments that you come in first place,” said Schemion after his win. “It’s what we all try to do but it feels very good to run through a good field and win one.”

The 29-year old German pro, who resides now in Austria with his wife and two kids, has an impressive resume of over $16 million in lifetime earnings, and has collected his first live cash in over two years.

“It has been very difficult to play any live poker with things how they are,” he said when discussing his absence from live poker “I was really craving it and it just feels great to come out here to play, now it feels even better now that I have won something.”

A relatively experienced final table was facing Schemion with former November niner Jerry Wong, and number one on the Philippines all-time money list Marc Rivera. Though he did not collect any bounties this tournament, he collected a nice new piece of jewelry to add to his already very decorated tournament results.

Final Table Action

Play started off slowly on the final day with the final six players passing around chips the first level and some change.

It was not until Level 28 that a player was eliminated when Jerry Wong jammed his remaining chips into the middle with {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and was looked up in the big blind by Schemion who held {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}. The queen-jack failed to improve, and Wong was out the door in 6th place and took home $27,951 in cash.

Soon thereafter in the same level James Alexander moved all-in with {a-Spades}{7-Spades} and was called by Marc Rivera who held {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}. The runout did not change anything, and that sent Alexander packing in 5th place and he earned $37,965 in cash.

Next, in Level 29, Ole Schemion moved all-in from under the gun and was called by Marc Rivera out of the big blind. Unfortunately for Rivera, this was Schemion’s final table, and the latter rivered a gutshot straight to eliminate Rivera in 4th place, taking home $52,569 in cash.

The Schemion show continued in Level 29 when a short-stacked Giovani Torre moved all-in preflop with {j-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and was called by Schemion who held {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Not even a flopped two pair could save Torre as Schemion went runner-runner tens to snatch away the hand which eliminated Torre in 3rd place. He pocketed $73,175 in cash.

Entering heads-up play as a seven-to-one chip underdog, it did not take long for Benjamin Underwood to get his chips in the middle. He moved all-in early on in the heads-up match and held {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} versus the {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} held by Schemion. True to the final table form, Schemion flopped trip aces and did not look back, which eliminated Underwood in 2nd place for which he took home a cool $106,618 in cash for his effort.

Congratulations to Ole Schemion for winning Event #79: Hall Of Fame Bounty No-Limit Hold’em! Stay tuned to PokerNews for all the updates on all tournaments in this last leg of the 52nd World Series of Poker at The Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.

Ole Schemion moved all-in from under the gun and was called by Marc Rivera in the big blind.

The hands were tabled and it was the {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} held by Schemion versus the {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} held by the all-in and at-risk Rivera.

The dealer spread the flop of {5-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{6-Spades} and Rivera's pair of nines remained ahead, but Schemion flopped a gutshot straight draw.

The turn was the {q-Diamonds} and changed nothing.

The river card {4-Hearts} completed Schemion's gutshot draw and gave him the winner, which in turn eliminated Rivera in 4th place for which he pocketed $52,569 in cash.
