Thorpe Survives With an Ace

Nível 16

Mike Thorpe raised in the small blind and got three-bet by Michael Trivett in the big blind. Thorpe called with his short stack.

Thorpe drew two cards while Trivett took one. Thorpe then check-called a bet from Trivett, leaving himself just over one big bet behind.

Again Thorpe drew two versus Trivett's one card draw. Thorpe then check-raised all-in after Trivett bet, and Trivett called.

The hands were tabled as each was drawing one.

Mike Thorpe: {6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}
Michael Trivett: {7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}

Each player had strong draws and Trivett revealed his final draw card first for the sweat. He turned up an {a-}, leaving Thorpe live to any non-pairing card.

He got just that as he also turned up an {a-} making a winning {a-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}.

Daniel Zack Eliminated in 12th Place ($20,057)

Nível 16
Dan Zack
Dan Zack

With a pair of very short stacks yet to act, Don Nguyen raised. Dan Smith moved all-in for his last 30,000, and in the big blind, Daniel Zack called for his last 17,000.

Zack had the support of Mike Thorpe, who held his hand through the all-in ordeal, but he would need more than Thorpe's support as he started by drawing four cards. Nguyen and Smith each drew two behind him.

On the second draw, Zack improved to a two-card draw, but Nguyen stood pat and Smith drew just one.

On the final round, Zack was down to a one-card draw, while both his opponents patted.

Smith showed that he had made {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}, giving him a high chance of a triple-up, especially after Nguyen mucked. Zack showed {7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}, with a chance to draw a deuce to win and survive.

He squeezed a none-across, giving him a chance of hitting that deuce, but it turned out to be another {3-}, ending his night in 12th place.

Nível 16
Jordan Siegel
Jordan Siegel

Michael Trivett raised from the small blind and Jordan Siegel called from the big blind. Both players drew two.

Trivett checked the first draw and called Siegel's bet. Siegel drew one and Trivett took two.

After the second draw, Trivett checked and once again called Siegel's bet.

Both players drew one on the third draw and checked.

"King," said Trivett.

Siegel turned over {q-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} to beat the king-low and take the pot.

Nguyen Survives "Hurricane Danny"

Nível 16

Danny Wong has been dubbed "Hurricane Danny" by his tablemates as he's continued dominating the tournament and built by far the largest stack in the room.

Don Nguyen recently played a huge pot with him and lived to tell the tale.

Wong raised the button and got three-bet by Nguyen in the big blind. Wong called.

Nguyen drew two cards, while Wong drew three. Nguyen then bet and got raised by Wong. Nguyen called.

Nguyen still needed to draw one, but Wong drilled his first draw and stood pat.

Nguyen checked to Wong who bet, but was then met with a check-raise from Nguyen. Wong called.

Both players patted, and the pot was now huge, with the potential to launch Wong close to two million if he was the victor.

It got even bigger as Nguyen bet and was raised by Wong. Nguyen just called and both players then turned over {7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} to chop the huge pot.

Thorpe Checks Dark; Makes Number 6

Nível 16
Mike Thorpe
Mike Thorpe

Just before the break, Jordan Siegel raised from middle position and Mike Thorpe called from one of the blinds. Both players drew two.

Thorpe checked the first draw and called a bet from Siegel. Both players took one card on the second draw and checked.

Both players drew one card on the third draw and Thorpe checked in the dark.

"I have an amazing draw," said Thorpe to Siegel. Siegel put out a bet and Thorpe checked his draw and called quickly.

"I made number six," he said while turning over {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Siegel threw the losing hand in the muck.

But Thorpe wasn't done.

"I checked dark! I didn't want to hurt you," he said to Siegel. "You should've checked back!"

"I thought about reraising," Thorpe said to curious players at the other table.

Dan Smith objected.

"That's a lie. You immediately said what you had!"

"Ok, maybe."

Chip Leaders Tangle; Wong Comes Out on Top

Nível 17

Chip leader Danny Wong continues to surge, this time at the expense of the player second in chips, Brian Yoon.

First, Wong raised in early position and was called by Yoon in the big blind.

Yoon drew three, one, and one while Wong drew two, two and then patted.

Yoon bet all three streets including the final street despite Wong having patted his hand while he had just drawn one.

Wong called each street, including the last bet, where Yoon declared "pair", and Wong showed {10-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}.

Wong caught Yoon snowing again shortly after, when Yoon patted his hand and Wong drew one on the end. Yoon bet, and again was called by Wong.

"Bluff" said Yoon. Wong then showed a winning {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}

Gamble's Monumental Moment

Nível 17
Nathan Gamble
Nathan Gamble

"This is a monumental moment," Gamble said to the table as he raised from under the gun. There was not much acknowledgement from the table of the moment and action folded around to Joao Vieira on the big blind. Gamble had around 55,000 left and Vieira was thinking it over.

Mike Thorpe began to question the players in the hand.

"What is going through your mind right now?"

Gamble explained that they were thinking about how the bets would play out, and at what point in the hand he might commit all of his chips.

"I don't think," Thorpe said.

On the first draw, Gamble took two and Vieira drew three. Vieira bet and Gamble called.

Both players took one on the second draw and checked.

On the third draw, both players took one. Vieira checked and Gamble bet. He had just one 5,000 chip behind.

Vieira thought it over.

"This is a good spot for a bluff," he said as he called.

Gamble turned over {8-}{7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} and Vieira mucked his hand.

Michael Trivett offered support to Gamble.

"Us gingers are hard to kill."

"Yes! Make sure that ends up on PokerNews," Gamble said.

Michael Trivett Eliminated in 11th Place ($20,057)

Nível 17
Michael Trivett
Michael Trivett

Michael Trivett shoved his last 25,000 from under the gun and Joao Vieira three-bet from the button. Wil Wilkinson called and joined the side pot with Vieira.

Trivett drew one while Vieira and Wilkinson drew two.

After the first draw, Wilkinson checked and called a bet from Vieira.

Trivett drew one, Vieira drew one, and Wilkinson drew two.

On the second draw, Wilkinson checked again. Vieira bet and Wilkinson check-called.

Trivett was pat on the third draw and both Vieira and Wilkinson drew one.

Wilkinson bet the final draw and Vieira folded.

"I know that look," Trivett said as Wilkinson turned over {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for the nut low.

Trivett mucked his cards and was eliminated in 11th place for $20,057.
