Welcome to Day 3 of Event #22: Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship

Mikiyo Aoki (1,674,000), JJ Liu (1,511,000), Crystal Marino (1,349,000), Cherish Andrews (1,200,000) and Lara Eisenberg (1,049,000) are leading the final 17 players in Event #22 Ladies No-Limit Holde’em Championship.

In 2014, Day 2 chip leader Mikiyo Aoki (1,674,000) placed 2nd in the $10,000 Ladies Championship No-Limit Hold’em event losing heads-up to Haixia Zhang for a cash prize of $94,500. This will be Aoki’s 3rd time cashing in the ladies’ event. Aoki has a total of nine World Series of Poker cashes amounting to $203,769. Aoki is attempting to best her second-place finish, capture the title, and win her first WSOP bracelet.

JJ Liu finished Day 2 of the ladies championship event second in chips (1,511,000) with 17 players remaining. Originally from Taiwan, she ranks second on their all-time money list. She is by far the most accomplished poker player left in the field with a total of $3,367,389 in lifetime earnings. She has had an impressive sixty-one WSOP cashes amounting to $606,500 in earnings. Her first WSOP cash was in 1996 where she finished 4th place in a $3,000 buy-in no-limit event for $32,565. Liu has consistently cashed in a WSOP event every single year from 2006 to 2021 in live or online tournaments.

She has had success playing almost every format and not just no-limit but also mixed games. Her largest WSOP cash was in 2010 in a $1,500 buy-in pot-limit hold’em event, where she finished in 3rd place for $86,512. She has had two deep runs in the WSOP Main Event. Liu’s biggest live cash to date was in 2007 when she finished second in a $10,000 buy-in WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star event for $600,000. This will be her 4th cash in the ladies’ championship event. Liu is one day closer to her first WSOP gold bracelet.

There were a total of 644 entrants generating a prize pool of $573,160 with 97 players to cash. The remaining players are competing for a first-place prize of $115,6894 and the coveted WSOP gold bracelet.

Day 3 is scheduled to start today Oct. 13th at 12 p.m. local time. The play will begin on level 21 with the blinds at 10,000/20,000 with a 20,000 big blind ante. They will play 60-minute levels until only five players remain. There will be a 15-minute break every two levels. A 60-minute dinner break will occur after level 26 (≈ 6:30 p.m.).
