Kurtzman Leads Stacked Field Into Day 2 of Event #16: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship

Eric Kurtzman heads the 35 survivors from Day 1 into Friday's play in Event #16: $10,000 Limit Hold'em, with a few more entrants likely to join with registration open until cards are in the air at 2:00 pm local time.

Kurtzman will take his 466,000 chips up against plenty of notables that made it to Day 2 including two-time bracelet winner Yuri Dzivielevski (270,000), Event #2: $25,000 HORSE fourth-place finisher Chad Eveslage (162,000), two-time bracelet winner Anthony Zinno (159,000), 2021 Event #3: $1,000 Covid-19 Relief Charity winner Jeremy Ausmus (112,000), two-time $50,000 Poker Players Championship winner Brian Rast (108,000), and many more.

With play starting at Level 11 with limits of 4,000 / 8,000, there will also be several key players starting close to or under the ten big bet mark including four-time bracelet winner Mike Matusow (93,000), three-time bracelet winner and runner-up in Event #2: $25,000 HORSE, Benny Glaser (49,000), and nine-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel, who comes into the day looking to quickly spin up the shortest stack in the room (22,000).

Play is scheduled for seven 90-minute levels, or down to the live-streamed final table of five players, who will then battle for the bracelet Saturday on PokerGo.

Hellmuth Triples Up

Phil Hellmuth was down to his last 10,000 and got them all in pre-flop from the cutoff. Big blind Casey McCarrel called, as did original raiser Scott Tuttle from the cutoff.

McCarrel and Tuttle built a side pot on the , with McCarrel check-calling a bet. On the turn, McCarrel took the lead with a bet and Tuttle folded.

"Ace-jack," Hellmuth said as he turned over for top pair. McCarrel had for the same pair but worse kicker. The river came the and Hellmuth tripled up, while McCarrel took the side pot.

Glaser Back in Business

Benny Glaser started the day as one of the shortest stacks in the room with just 49,000, but he's quickly run his stack up to a healthy 200,000+.

He did give up a few chips recently in a small pot, when he couldn't beat his opponent's pair of deuces, but considering where he was to start the day, it was a small price to pay.

Following a flop of , Matusow check-called a bet from Monnette.

After the turn went check/check, Matusow led out on the river.

Monnette opted to fold and preserve his remaining 39,000 chips.

Somerville Shows Aggression in Back-to-Back Pots
