Russia’s Aleksei Vandyshev came from behind in heads-up play to win Event #27: $5,000 MAIN EVENT Online Championship of the 2021 GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Series. Vandyshev outlasted 4,092 entrants over 27 opening days and a Day 2 with 720 players to claim the coveted WSOP gold bracelet and $2,543,072. The 4,092 entrants fell just short of the $20,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and there was an overlay of $563,000.

Brazil’s Edson "CrownUpTsu" Tsutsumi Jr came into the final day with Vandyshev as first and second on the leaderboard and they were the last two standing to fight for the bracelet after an exciting final table.

Final Table Action

Joe "assisup4rent" Serock accounted for a lot of the early action, eliminating Dimitrios Farmakoulis in ninth place on the first hand of the day. Serock played well in the early going but he ultimately fell in fifth place when his ace-king ran into Tsutsumi’s eights.

Tsutsumi was aggressive all day, knocking out Renan "legal" Meneguetti in eighth, Serock in fifth, Christine "Yunaa" Do in fourth and Nikita "VSMPZD" Kuznetsov in third. This was Do's fourth cash of the 2021 GGPoker series, and it was a second year in a row that the online main event's final table had a female qualifier after Wenling Gao took second place in 2020.

Tsutsumi entered heads-up play with the lead after coming into the day as chip leader, but ultimately it was Vandyshev who would emerge victorious. After a steady day of laddering up and staying near the top of the leaderboard while Tsutsumi took out the other opponents, Vandyshev fell behind in four-handed play before battling back to enter heads-up play at a disadvantage. He took control after a series of hands in the opening stages of heads-up play gave him the chip lead. The final hand came down to a battle of pocket pairs, with Vandyshev’s tens holding out against Tsutsumi’s sevens to win the tournament.
