Cheong Puts Hoffman to the Test

Nível 8 : 400/800, 80 ante

"McCullough" raised to 1,600 from middle position Joseph "biueberry" Cheong three-bet it to 4,640 from the button. Jed "jchack' Hoffman called from the small blind and "McCullough called as well.

The pot was already 15,440 as the flop came {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}. Cheong bet 6,120, Hoffman called and "McCullough" came along as well to make the pot 33,800.

The turn was the {a-Diamonds}. And action slowed down as all three players checked.

The river came the {3-Spades}. Hoffman bet 21,700, "McCullough" folded as it would have been enough to put them all in. Cheong waited a few moments and then popped in an all in shove for 76,672. Hoffman went into the tank before eventually laying it down and sending the big pot over to Cheong.

Anderson Dusted By Dyer

Nível 8 : 400/800, 80 ante

Michael "helionic" Dyer limped from the cutoff and James "jbk152" Anderson raised all in for 3,598 from the button. Both blinds folded and Dyer called.

James "jbk152" Anderson: {j-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}
Michael "helionic" Dyer: {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Anderson got it in good but was flopped dead when it came {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts} to give Dyer a flush. The meaningless {8-Diamonds} and {10-Clubs} were run out on the turn and river respectively, and Anderson took his leave from the tournament.

WSOP Legend: 10-Time Bracelet Winner Phil Ivey

Nível 8 : 400/800, 80 ante
WSOP Legend Phil Ivey
WSOP Legend Phil Ivey

Few poker players have captured the attention of the poker universe quite like Phil Ivey. There have been plenty of champions of the game who crushed it at the felt, but none who built up the mystique of Ivey, who remains to this day arguably the most magnetic player in poker despite results that no longer match his days of utmost dominance.

A day after the anniversary of Ivey's induction into the Poker Hall of Fame, PokerNews examines the legacy of his WSOP success. Prior to 2000, Ivey didn't have any recorded WSOP cashes.

The 23-year-old didn't waste any time establishing himself as one of the top up-and-coming players. That year, after already making one final table and finishing fifth, Ivey secured his first bracelet. He beat none other than fellow Hall of Famer Amarillo Slim Preston heads up to win Event #14: $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha, a rebuy event, for his first bracelet and $195,000. Three other Hall of Famers — Chris Bjorin, Phil Hellmuth and David "Devilfish" Ulliott — also competed at that final table, so shipping it was about more than just getting his first taste of gold. Ivey showed he could beat the best in the business.

Two years after that, though, would be when Ivey really showed he was the present and future of the game. In 2002, Ivey showcased his skills at limit poker in a big way.

Hellmuth's 2020 WSOP Officially Comes to an End

Nível 8 : 400/800, 80 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Taylor "ZeroTo100" Von Kriegenbergh raised to 1,600 from the hijack and Mike "Mkspresident" Shin called from the cutoff. 15-time bracelet winner Phil "Lumestackin" Hellmuth then three-bet jammed for 9,210 from the big blind, Von Kriegenbergh four-bet to 16,820, and Shin got out of the way.

Phil "Lumestackin" Hellmuth: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}
Taylor "ZeroTo100" Von Kriegenbergh: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Hellmuth had a kicker problem with his ace and it didn't get resolved as the board ran out a lowly {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}.

With that, Hellmuth's quest for a 16th gold bracelet will have to wait until 2021.
