Madanzhiev Loses Three All-Ins In a Row

Within three consecutive hands, Stoyan Madanzhiev attempted to knock out a player and instead, his stack was knocked down by a lot as Joao Santos, Thomas Ward and Craig Timmis all doubled up.

Santos raised to 5,600,000 with 1,108,817 behind and then called all-in when Madanzhiev raised out of the big blind.

After the turn, Timmis check-shoved for 11,504,650 and Madanzhiev called after he had invested 3.05 million.

An old-fashioned preflop raising war saw Tyler Rueger pick up a pile of chips without showdown. It was Benjamin Rolle who came in on the button with a raise to 880,000. Rueger three-bet to 2,575,750 in the small blind, Rolle four-bet to 6,755,500, Rueger five-bet shoved all in for 18,699,751, and Rolle folded.

In Wong's final hand, it was Rueger who raised to 800,000 in the cutoff, Wong three-bet to 4,600,000 in the small blind, Rueger reraised and Wong called off a little extra.

On three short-handed tables, a preflop showdown broke out in which Michael Kane in the cutoff eventually ended up as the player at risk for a pot of 13,643,096.

Kane faced Satoshi Isomae in the small blind and had the best of it when the cards were revealed.

Craig Timmis used his big stack and opened to 800,000 in the cutoff, which was called by Stoyan Madanzhiev on the button. Mariano Martiradonna then opted for a three-bet to 3,700,000 only for Timmis to quickly move all in with the biggest stack among the three involved players.

Madanzhiev quickly folded and Martiradonna used his time bank to come to the same conclusion.

WSOP Legend: Doyle Brunson’s final bracelet, 15 years later

At the beginning of the 2005 WSOP, Doyle Brunson remained the co-king of the all-time bracelet count, tied along with Johnny Chan at nine. However, as the series drew toward its close in late June, that was no longer the case — Chan had overtaken him by winning No. 10 to stand atop the mountain alone.

Brunson was already phasing out his tournament play, having cashed precisely zero times that summer and just three times in the previous two combined, although one had resulted in a bracelet victory.

When it came time for Event #31: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed, Brunson dusted off his tournament chops and made a run. Through a field of 301, he made the final table, where he sat second in chips behind fellow multiple-bracelet winner Layne Flack, with Scotty Nguyen also occupying a seat.
