Dmytro "Too Bad" Bystrovzorov Wins Event #65
Dmytro "Too Bad" Bystrovzorov Wins Event #65

Dmytro "Too Bad" Bystrovzorov didn't do too bad today as he claimed the victory in Event #65: $600 NLHE Deepstack for his first WSOP bracelet, the WSOP Europe Package, and $227,906 after almost 15 hours of play. He defeated Florian "Gaug1nho" Gaugusch heads-up in a 2,911-strong field which had created a prize pool of $1,659,270.

From The Hendon Mob it looks like Bystrovzorov has collected two live cashes before but none above $1,000 so this would be his biggest score ever as he also hasn't collected any cashes in the GGPoker WSOP Online Bracelet Events either. In comparison, Gaugusch had already collected three cashes during this series with more expected to follow after this one for the Pokercode Grindhouse participant.

Other familiar players who joined them on the final table were Christopher "RambaZamba" Putz, Ivan "00COEL" Banic, and Giovani "Mandjocka" Torre.

From Start to Bubble

When the late registration and reentry period closed after four hours, more than 2,900 entries were collected but only just over 900 players were left in the field to battle it out for a spot in the top 368 as those would be the ones who would get paid at least $1,424. Eighty minutes later, the bubble had come but the players all got to enjoy a break before hand-for-hand play would really start.

In the third round of the bubble, James "PHJ10" Carroll was eliminated by Patrick "CocoTheDog" Mahoney when he ran his ace-jack into the jack-six of the latter. The six on the turn burst the bubble but at the same time, Nathanael "BravePenguin" Kogel had gotten all his chips in with ace-queen. Felipe "theGHOSTguy" Pfeifer had eights and those held throughout the runout of the board for Kogel to be the first player of the day to cash.

Dropping Like Flies

Many familiar names and faces fell after the bubble as they all tried to build up their stacks on the way to the final table. Players like GGPoker Ambassadors Felipe Ramos and Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier, Dante Goya, Tom Middleton, Benny Glaser, Anson Tsang, Ali Imsirovic, Dario Sammartino, and Chris Moorman all busted after the bubble.

Five hours after the bubble burst, the field was reduced to the final two tables. Pavel "EzzzGame" Plesuv was taken out by Stanley "Donkey_Fish" Topol in eleventh place for "YoungSire" to bubble the final table when they fell to Matthew "Yellowbuddah" Train.

From Nine Players to One Winner

Bystrovzorov started the final table in the middle of the pack with Banic and Putz at the top of the counts. Torre was the short stack and also first to go thanks to Bystrovzorov. Gaugusch would then take out Ivan "ivenson13" Constantin while Topol took care of Wojciech "ItOldUbefOre" Barzantny.

Putz eliminated Banic and Topol in a space of twenty minutes before he busted to Train more than an hour later in a three-way all-in situation with Bystrovzorov involved too. He was close to winning a bracelet last week but fell short in second place in Event #59 behind Leonardo "Babaehduro" Mattos. A few minutes later, Train got his queens in against the kings of Bystrovzorov to not get any help from the board.

Bystrovzorov started the heads-up battle with 60% of the chips in play and increased it by even more with two big hands going his way. In the final hand, he first limped in and then three-bet shoved with ace-seven and was called by Gaugusch for his last twelve big blinds while holding pocket queens. The eight-eight-ace flop gave Bystrovzorov the higher two pair and nothing changed on the turn nor river to deliver him the triumph over the Austrian player and the eighth bracelet for Ukraine.

PokerNews will be back on Wednesday, August 19 to bring you coverage of Event #66: $800 Pot Limit Omaha from 6 p.m. UTC.
