It's Time to Create Some Millionaires Tonight!

Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

Tonight, a long six-day wait for the conclusion of Event 48: $1,500 MILLIONAIRE MAKER, $5M Gtd is over. An epic field of 6,299 players signed up for one of the biggest tournaments of the 2020 World Series of Poker Online on GGPoker, creating a total prize pool of $8,976,075 to nearly double it's already lofty guarantee.

Out of those 6k+ runners, just nine are left standing in search of the gigantic $1,489,289 first-place prize that awaits the winner later tonight. The tournament lives up to its name, crowning not one but two millionaires as the second place will still award $1,072,428. Needless to say, the nearly $1.5M up top is among the biggest prizes ever awarded in the history of online poker.

The tournament is already a success for each of the final nine, with $107,671 guaranteed for their efforts no matter what. Obviously, every next payjump still counts tremendously, and the tournament is made even more interesting by potentially offering a textbook ICM study for years to come. Take a look at how the field is lined up for tonight.

No fewer than five players will suit up for the final table sporting fewer than ten big blinds, while Canada's Daniel Dvoress starts off as the chip leader with just 31 big blinds. It'll be fast and furious, for sure, but with every pay jump being worth at least $40,000 it'll be interesting to see how it'll play out despite the shallow stacks across the board.

And while Dvoress might sport a relatively healthy lead compared to his peers, with players such as Anatoly "Mr_Deer" Filatov and Ronny Kaiser lurking in the field it'll be far from a walk in the park for the Canadian high roller.

Blinds will continue in level 29 with blinds at 1,500,000/3,000,000 and a 300,000 ante. Levels go up every 30 hands. Make sure to check back at 8:30 p.m. sharp to not miss any of the action on PokerNews as it'll be exciting right off the bat! For cards up coverage of the action, check out GGPoker's Twitch channel (with action on a 30-minute security delay).

Vegas-Averse Daniel Dvoress Ready for 'Unique' Bracelet Opportunity

Daniel Dvoress
Daniel Dvoress

One of the best tournament poker players in the world has never played a single World Series of Poker event in Las Vegas. No, fans whose following of the game centers around the summer bracelet grind may have never even heard of Daniel Dvoress.

But make no mistake — he is among the elite. Respected by his peers and those in the know for both his skills and his results, Dvoress has been a winning presence in the live and online scenes for several years. In the former, he's racked up $15.6 million in cashes according to The Hendon Mob. In the latter, Pocket Fives has him with almost $2.7 million, and he can regularly be found participating in the toughest high rollers offered on a slew of different sites.

To those fans following Dvoress' exploits on the global high-roller circuit, it was no surprise to see his name at the top of the chip counts in the paused $1,500 Millionaire Maker on GGPoker. Of course a player who probably has an average buy-in of five figures over the last five-ish years is going to dominate a big-field $1,500 event.

But the other subset of fans, those who focus on the WSOP and other stateside events, likely just scrolled past the odd-looking name with the D and the V next to each other without a second thought.

If he's one of the best, why don't they know who this guy is?

  • 1. STAKING on DAY 2:
Poker fans and players can now buy a piece of their favourite player's action or sell their own should they survive Day 1 of phased tournaments.
  • 2. Convert Multiple Event Tickets into T$
After the series has finished, your unused tickets will be exchanged for T$ that you can use to enter any tournament on GGPoker
  • 3. Pick Your Own WSOP Event
When the WSOP Online schedule on GGPoker was announced, the poker community was intrigued to see a new type of bracelet event announced! Three 'People's Choice' events were announced, with the formats and buy-ins yet to be announced.
  • 4. Best Stack Forward
Any player that makes it to the end of a Day 1 with a stack is allowed to take part in additional Day 1s if they want to, providing they have not exceeded the maximum number of re-entries.
However, if a player finishes multiple Day 1s with chips, only the highest chip stack will go to Day 2.
  • 5. Take Advantage of Bubble Protection
