Quads Again

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

Seconds after quad queens had been shown by Chad Power, quads struck again at a nearby table as Dejan Pustoslemsek was raking in a pot with his pocket jacks exposed as the winner on a board that included two jacks. He added the chips to his stack as it appeared that Michael Kapernaros was the one whose stack had been raided.

Double Knockout With a Twist for Rand

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante
Kevin Rand
Kevin Rand

Marc Foggin jammed for the last 344,000 and the action was on John Lombardo on the button, who gave it a lot of consideration. One of the players on the table called the clock on Lombardo, who was given 25 seconds to act and made the call within that time for 60% of his remaining stack.

Kevin Rand in the small blind pushed all in and Lombardo called it off to create a three-way showdown.

Marc Foggin: {k-Spades}{10-Spades}
John Lombardo: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Kevin Rand: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

Foggin picked up a flush draw on the {6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} flop while Lombardo was drawing very thin. The {9-Spades} turn left Lombardo drawing dead while Foggin suddenly went from worst to best hand and needed to avoid another spade to triple up. However, the {j-Spades} fell on the river and that locked up the double knockout for Rand.

Quad Queens for Power

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante
Chad Power
Chad Power

Chad Power made a river bet of 500,000 over to his opponent, Preben Stokkan. The board read {2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{q-Spades}{q-Clubs} and a pot of about 750,000 was already in the middle. Stokkan deeply considered it before calling.

Power had the hammer as he turned over the {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and added chips to his stack which is nearing 5 million.

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

As told to us by Tim Burt, a series of raises between Michael Dollins in early position and Luke Brereton on the button resulted in Brereton all in for abut 850,000 with {q-}{q-}, trailing Dollins' {k-}{k-}.

The board ran out clean for Dollins, ending Brereton's Main Event.

Katz Eliminated by Auzoux

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante
Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Cary Katz was seen standing up from his table as the pot was in the process of being shipped to his executioner, Gregoire Auzoux. Auzoux's winning hand of {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} was tabled on a board of {5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{a-Hearts}

According to him and another player at the table, Katz raised and Auzoux three-bet. Katz four-bet all in for not much more and Auzoux called.

Katz had {k-}{k-} and took the bad beat, albeit an unavoidable one when Auzoux spiked his ace on the river to win the pot and send Katz home.

Hang Doubles Through Foggin

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

Down to his last 172,000, Keith Hang moved all in and Marc Foggin reshoved. John Lombardo in the big blind checked his cards and mucked {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} face up with the words "I can't do it."

Keith Hang: {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Marc Foggin: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The board came {q-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Hang doubled with his set of tens.

Mental Game Series: Todd “DanDruff” Witteles on Right Track in Life and 2019 WSOP Main Event

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante
Todd Witteles
Todd Witteles

If there’s ever been a poker player who tells it like it is, that player is Todd “DanDruff” Witteles. Not only does he host Poker Fraud Alert where he sheds light on any shadiness and controversy going on in the poker world, but anyone who follows him on social media knows he’s also opened up about struggles in his personal life.

That includes suffering from severe anxiety and depression, as well as anhedonia – the inability to feel any kind of pleasure. For a while, it took over his life, but things are different.

“I don’t know if I have more pep in my step but I’m very thankful that I came back from what happened to me last year,” Witteles explained. “In August I had the worst month of my life. For a few months after that I was pretty bad too. I developed a chemical disorder in my brain that caused very severe anxiety, depression, and some other very bad psychological issues where I was very messed up.”

He continued: “I could think logically but I could not overrule the way I was feeling. I’d never had those types of problems in my life before, so I wasn’t someone who had dealt with it my whole life. I didn’t know if I’d even come back from it. I knew it was something chemical, there wasn’t something in my life that happened to cause this.”

Fortunately, Witteles was able to overcome those difficulties as highlighted in the linked article below. For now, Witteles is in action today and looking to make the most of his 2019 WSOP Main Event experience.

Siegal's Chips Vanish

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

Jeff Siegal has not been in his seat throughout Day 5 and was eventually forced all in from the big blind. Dario Sammartino raised and Kristofer Kneale called from the small blind but check-folded the {q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop to a bet by Sammartino as Siegal was officially eliminated.

When the cards went in the air, Kneale mentioned that Siegal was very sick. His now empty seat was taken by Richard Seymour, a man with three Super Bowl championship rings and a chip stack in rude health.

Dewitt Continues Surge

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante

A large amount of chips of nearly 1,000,000 was brewing in the pot and Jeffrey Dewitt had made a bet of 500,000 on a board that read {5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Nick Rampone, who had doubled up Dewitt earlier, was considering the bet. He thought for several minutes and said it was ok if anybody called the clock on him, but none of his table-mates thought that was necessary and told him to take his time.

Eventually Rampone folded to give Dewitt yet another boon to his stack to continue his momentum early on Day 5.

Turner Turns the Flush

Nível 21 : 12,000/24,000, 24,000 ante
Jon Turner
Jon Turner

Jon Turner raised to 55,000 from the late position and Milos Skrbic three-bet to 170,000 from the hijack. Action folded back to Turner who made the call.

They both checked through the {10-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop to the {j-Clubs} on the turn. Turner fired a bet of 225,000 over the line and Skrbic called after confirming the amount.

The river completed the board with the {a-Spades} and now Turner barreled a bet of 600,000 into the pot which Skrbic snap-called. Turner tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for the turned flush which was good enough to scoop the pot as Skrbic looked resigned and flashed {a-}{k-} for the Broadway.
