The second flight of the ever popular Crazy Eights tournament has wrapped for the day and Michael Kane will return to Day 2 in fantastic shape, with 1,360,000 chips to play with. He is one of only two players who built a seven-figure stack over the 19 levels of play, with Dara Taherpour (1,030,000) being the other. Kane is also the overall leader at the moment, nipping ahead of Russian Pro Arsenii Karmatckii, who finished Day 1a with 1,323,000.

Richard Bai (535,000), Calvin Anderson (400,000), James Dempsey (301,000), Boris Kolev (200,000) and Robert Cheung (102,000) are some of the notables to secure themselves a seat in Day 2 which returns on Monday 1st July at midday, here at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. All in all, there were 138 runners who made it through and they join the 191 from Day 1a, which is a total of 329 through so far.

There were many well-known names in the crowd today but the majority of them failed to find a bag at the end. With two more starting flights available though, we may not have seen the last of Julien Martini, David Bach, Maria Lampropoulos, Martin Finger, Mikhail Semin, Terry Fleischer or Kiryl Radzivonau to name a few.

It all starts again tomorrow with Day 1c kicking off at 10 a.m. Sunday will see the final starting day taking place, which will also begin at 10 a.m. Don’t forget to join PokerNews then to find out all the latest news and action.

Anderson on a Heater

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

With four top 20 finishes, including one final table, Calvin Anderson has had a great run at this year's series so far. If his heater continues as it has done over the last 40 minutes, he will have no trouble repeating that success. He has won a slew of pots that have taken him to over 10 times the starting stack and was closing in on 500,000 chips after getting paid on the river when he had the nut flush.

He did lose a flip in the next hand though with pocket-eights versus a short-stack's ace-king hit on a {4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. The all-in player seemed relieved to have broken the pattern, shaking his head and laughing as he said "someone had to put a stop to that s***...ridiculous."

Event 64: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold’em is back for Day 1b. Always a popular choice among players, the tournament is all about the eights, with a buy-in of $888 and a prize of $888,888 going to the winner. In addition, tables are played 8-handed for the duration of the event.

In 2018, Galen Hall outlasted 8,597 entrants to take home the title, prize money and his first bracelet. With four starting flights to choose from, and unlimited re-entries throughout each of the day 1s, there are plenty of opportunities for would-be hopefuls to join Hall in the record books.

This year, players will receive 40,000 chips, up from the 8,000 starting stack in play in 2018. There are 19 30-minute levels on the clock and a 20-minute break at the end of every four levels. Late registration closes at the end of Level 12, around 12 a.m. All of this will be happening in Amazon Purple, here at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino.
