2-7 Triple Draw

Just a bit after he lost most of his chips to Bariscan Betil, Daniel Negreanu bet from the small blind and got raised by Betil after the second draw. Negreanu called and drew a card.

"OK, making me break," he said.

Betil patted but Negreanu bet into him on the end, leaving 400 back. Betil raised and Negreanu shrugged and called it off. Betil showed {7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-} and Negreanu mucked his {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}, paid his massage therapist off and then headed out.

Brunson Wheels Away With a Capped Pot

2-7 Triple Draw

Betting was capped between three players before the draw and Todd Brunson took a card from the small blind. The big blind did likewise while the player on the button needed two. Brunson bet, the big blind raised and the third player called. Brunson made it three to the second draw and everyone took a card then checked. Everyone again drew, and Brunson came out betting.

The big blind mucked but the third player called. Brunson tabled {7-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-} for a wheel and dragged the pot.

"Did you write the book on this game, Todd?" someone asked.

A-5 Triple Draw

Brian Yoon and James Pritchard were in a battle of blinds after the first draw and Yoon bet. Pritchard raised and Yoon made it three bets, with Pritchard calling. Both players were pat after that, with Pritchard calling bets on the last two streets.

Yoon said "six-five" and Pritchard responded with "six-five perfect?"

That's because that was the only one that beat his {6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}{a-} but Yoon had an inferior {6-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{a-}.

"So sick," Pritchard said.

Rosario Showers Opponent

A-5 Triple Draw

Shirley Rosario opened from the cutoff and the player on the button put in a three-bet. Rosario made the call and drew one card, while her opponent drew two. Rosario bet and her opponent raised all in for less than a second bet. She made the call and both players stood pat on their final two draws.

Shirley Rosario: {7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}{a-}
Opponent: {8-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{a-}

Rosario's seven-low was good to eliminate her opponent and she finds herself with a comfortable stack early in level six.

Kurtzman Chipping Up

Nível 5 : 400/800, 0 ante
Eric Kurtzman

Badugi

Eric "The Donkey" Kurtzman took down two hands in a row and is cruising along with a mountain of chips in front of him. The first of the two hands saw three-way action with a player opening from under the gun. Kurtzman called from the cutoff, as did the player on the button. All three players drew one card and the player under the gun bet, which Kurtzman and the player on the button both called. All three players drew one card again on the second draw, and action checked through. The final draw saw all three players take one card for the last time this hand, and action checked to Kurtzman, who bet. The player on the button called and the original raiser folded from under the gun.

Kurtzman tabled {7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and his opponent mucked as he raked in the pot.

On the following hand, Kurtzman opened from the hijack and got called by the players in the small and big blinds. The small blind drew two cards and the big blind and Kurtzman both drew one. Action checked to Kurtzman, who made a continuation-bet. Both players called, and draws again went two, one, one. The small blind checked and the big blind put in a bet. Kurtzman raised, prompting the small blind to fold. The big blind called and both players stood pat on the final draw.

On the last street of action, the big blind checked and Kurtzman put in another bet. The big blind sent his cards into the muck and Kurtzman told him he made a good fold as he added more chips onto his stack.

Badugi

In a three-bet pot pre-draw, James Woods found himself in a three-handed pot from the cutoff against the players on the button and in the small blind. The small blind drew one card, Woods drew one, and the player on button stood pat. Action was checked to the player on the button, who put in a bet that the player in the small blind and Woods both called. The small blind again drew one card, Woods stood pat, and the player on the button deliberated before drawing one card.

Action then checked to Woods, who made a bet. The player on the button folded and the small blind made the call. On the last draw, the small blind again drew one and Woods stood pat. The small blind checked and Woods made a bet. The small blind folded and Woods tabled {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a wheel badugi, stating that he had improved to the nuts after his first draw.

Welcome to Day 1 of Event #6: $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw

Cards and Chips
Cards and Chips

Six events into the 2019 World Series of Poker, it's time for the first mixed-game bracelet event of the summer: Event #6: $2,500 Limit Mixed Triple Draw.

Badugi, 2-7 triple draw and A-5 triple draw comprise the mix. Each game plays for the lowest hand, with badugi requiring players to aim for {a-}{2-}{3-}{4-} of different suits, A-5 for a wheel and 2-7 for the lowest cards with straights and flushes counting against.

Players get 15,000 in their starting stacks, with one reentry available and registration open until the start of Level 9 (800/1,600). Levels last an hour apiece with breaks given after every other level. Ten levels are on the docket for Day 1.

Last year, Johannes Becker broke through in this event for his first bracelet, topping a field of 321 — and a final table that included Chris Vitch and Scott Seiver — for $180,455. Becker undoubtedly hopes to be grinding the $50K all day, so it remains to be seen if he'll even attempt to go back-to-back.

Cards are scheduled to fly at 3 p.m. local time here at the Rio, so follow the lowball draw mix right here on PokerNews starting then.
