Mark Radoja

The surviving 201 players from a total field of 996 will resume play in Event #48: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em this afternoon with ten one-hour levels already under their collective belt and ten more on the cards for today’s Day 2. Three-quarters of those unbagging today will make the money: 150 will be paid a minimum of $3,746 from the $2,241,000 total prize pool.

With a truly international field taking to the felt, there are multiple prior bracelet winners floating around the Amazon Room like sharks circling their prey. Brock Parker, Josh Arieh, Martin Jacobson, Kristen Bicknell, David “Bakes” Baker plus current second and third in chips Barny Boatman and Mark Radoja are just a few of the decorated players hoping to add to their jewelry collection.

Others unpacking sizeable stacks include Antal Mezei (246,400), Danish player Sebastian Percy-Smith (245,000) and the Day 1 chip leader Baitai Li, who with 354,800 returns with considerably more ammunition than any of his 200 opponents.

Cards return to the air with the blinds rising to 800/1,600 and antes of 1,600 at 1.00 p.m. in the Amazon Room. Rejoin PokerNews for live coverage from then until a champion is crowned on Sunday.

Ivanov Has "Trust Issues" with Spears

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Stefan Ivanov
Stefan Ivanov

Andy Spears was picking up his jacket having just busted while the table looked on at his {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, all in preflop vs. button (and initial raiser, subsequent caller) Stefan Ivanov's {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}. The queens had held until the river, the board {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{a-Clubs} and Ivanov was in the process of absorbing Spears' chips into his own healthy stack.

"You have trust issues," joked tablemate Justin Conley.

"I played with him yesterday," responded Ivanov, "He's capable of it."

Jacobson Puts on the Pressure

Nível 12 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

Josip Simunic opened to 4,200 in early position and Martin Jacobson three-bet to 17,000 from the big blind. Simunic called and the flop fell {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Both players checked and the {5-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Jacobson led out for 20,000 and Simunic quickly called to see the {6-Diamonds} on the river. Jacobson announced all in and Simunic dipped into the tank with around 55,000 still in front of him. The money bubble was on the horizon and Simunic thought for over three minutes. He eventually slid his cards to the muck and Jacobson collected the pot.

Huge Double for Simunic

Nível 13 : 1,200/2,400, 2,400 ante
Ryan Olisar
Ryan Olisar

Josip Simunic now has 320,000 chips to play with after doubling through (now ex-) chip leader Ryan Olisar. The pot remained smallish, heads up to the turned five, when all the fireworks went off at once.

The board: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Simunic checked, Olisar bet and was check-raised to 26,000. Action back on Olisar, he raised again, to 60,000. Simunic, with a total remaining stack 157,000, went into the tank for longer than Olisar spent in there before his three-bet. Finally, he moved all-in and was called.

Olisar: {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Simunic: {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

The river was the {4-Spades} and Olisar, who'd been approaching 500,000, had to even up stacks with Simunic.

Bicknell Outkicks Arieh; He Promptly Kicks Out Someone Else

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Kristen Bicknell
Kristen Bicknell

Kristen Bicknell raised preflop in late position to 11,000, then called when small blind Josh Arieh made it 33,000.

Flop: {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Arieh led out for 24,000 and Bicknell made the call. Both players checked through the {k-Clubs} turn and {q-Spades} river and it was a battle of the aces at showdown, Bicknell's {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} beating Arieh's {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

The very next hand, Arieh eliminated a short stacked player who'd moved in on the flop with a vulnerable made hand, saying "let's gamble" with a flush and gutshot draw and binking the latter to replenish the chips Bicknell took the hand prior.

Cohen Runs Into Filatov's Aces

Nível 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Anatoly Filatov from a previous event
Anatoly Filatov from a previous event

Sam Cohen opened to 12,000 in early position and Anatoly Filatov put in a three-bet to 37,000. The action was back on Cohen who shipped all in for 228,000 and Filatov quickly called.

Anatoly Filatov: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Sam Cohen: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Filatov held a commanding lead but the flop of {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{5-Spades} gave Cohen a few outs. Filatov took out his phone to start filming in case something drastic happened, but the {5-Hearts},{8-Diamonds} runout brought no drama which sent Cohen to the rail.

Acevedo and Slobodskoy Bow Out

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Baitai Li,
Baitai Li,

Michael Acevedo shipped all in for 74,000 in middle position and Baitai Li called from a couple of seats over. Acevedo turned over {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} despite the {9-Spades} already being burned. Li tabled {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} and the two players were flipping.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} to leave Acevedo in the lead but the {a-Diamonds} on the turn paired Li. The {2-Hearts} completed the board and Acevedo was eliminated.

In the next hand, the action folded to Michael Stephenson in the small blind who just limped in. Naor Slobodskoy shoved all in for just under 100,000 in the big blind and Stephenson quickly called.

Slobodskoy tabled {j-Spades}{10-Clubs} which was trailing Stephenson's {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. The board ran out {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Stephenson made two pair to eliminate Slobodskoy.

Jacobson Falls to Yifrach

Nível 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Gal Yifrach
Gal Yifrach

Martin Jacobson was down to just 10 big blinds and he moved all in for 83,000 in middle position. A couple of players gave it some thought but the action folded to Gal Yifrach in the big blind who quickly called.

Gal Yifrach: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Martin Jacobson: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

It was a fair fight but the flop of {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} gave the edge to Yifrach. The {j-Clubs} on the turn did not help Jacobson and the {3-Spades} on the river was much of the same.

Tortured Fold for Marques as Level Ticks Down

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Pedro Marques
Pedro Marques

A pot of 250,000 had been built between long-time table rivals Pedro Marques and Pablo Melogno, when the action, slowly, took place on the river of a {7-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Spades} board. Melogno checked, Marques bet 55,000. Back to Melogno, for whom the term "clock-raise" must now be coined. He raised to 450,000 (with 50,000 behind). Marques now took his time deep in the tank, shaking his head, covering his face with his hands and then sitting back with his arms crossed. Finally he made the fold.
