The Heads-Up Battle in Event #14: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. Continues at Noon

WSOP Bracelet
WSOP Bracelet

The last two players will battle it out for the first-place prize of $207,003 and the WSOP Gold Bracelet in Event #14: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. at the 50th Annual World Series of Poker. Jason Stockfish and Murilo Souza are still in contention for one of the most prestigious prizes in poker.

Stockfish is still in the running for his first bracelet after finishing second three times already. Two of those runner-up finishes are in mixed game events and Stockfish takes the chip lead to the fourth day of play, with 4,095,000 chips compared to the 3,425,000 currently in front of Murilo Souza's seat.

For Souza, it's his first WSOP cash and final table. It's a rare feat to win a bracelet in your first WSOP cash, but Souza has the chance to do just that on Day 4 of the tournament.

The tournament was originally scheduled to play down to six players on Day 3 but the tournament direction decided to try and play down to a winner. Day 4 will now continue from 12 noon and there are four hands of Omaha Hi-Lo left with the button is in front of Souza.

PokerNews will be on the floor to report the heads-up battle.

Murilo Souza: {x-}{x-} / {2-}{2-}{k-}{a-} / {x-}

There was very little action in the four remaining Omaha hi-lo hands, but it is the complete opposite in Razz.

Jason Stockfish brought in with the queen and Murilo Souza completed to 100,000. Stockfish called and the tables turned on fourth street.

Stockfish lead out on every single street to the end and Souza called them all but the one on seventh. He mucked his hand and the first sizeable pot was awarded to Stockfish.

Stud

Both players started with a six up in stud, with Jason Stockfish leading the betting by completing and then firing fourth and fifth. He slowed down on sixth with a check.

Murilo Souza: {x-}{x-}/{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Jason Stockfish: {x-}{x-}/{6-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

Souza took the opportunity to bet and Stockfish called. Stockfish checked again on the river and Souza quickly bet. Stockfish thought about 30 seconds and mucked.

Murilo Souza: {x-}{x-} / {10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Hearts} / {x-}

Murilo Souza brought in and then called when Jason Stockfish completed. Stockfish continued to keep firing 100,000 on fourth and 200,000 on fifth and sixth.

Stockfish had the better up cards and it turned out he had the better hand in general when he flipped over {q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} after they both checked on seventh.

Jason Stockfish completed with the {10-Clubs} and Murilo Souza raised with {6-Hearts}. After that, the two players took a free card, then Stockfish bet fifth and Souza took the lead on sixth and seventh.

Jason Stockfish: {x-}{x-}/{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}/{x-}
Murilo Souza: {x-}{x-}/{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}/{x-}

Stockfish called on the end and Souza announced a straight. Stockfish nodded that it was good and Souza showed {8-Spades}{7-Hearts} as if indicating those were his starting cards and he made his hand on sixth, then the {9-Spades} behind it.

Souza then won the next pot on fifth street in stud hi-lo and surpassed the 3 million mark.

Hold'em

Murilo Souza raised to 240,000 from the button/small blind and Jason Stockfish raised to three bets worth 360,000 from the big blind. Souza called and they went to the flop.

The dealer spread out the {q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and Stockfish fired another bet of 120,000. He was called by Souza again.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and Souza called another bet again but it was 240,000 this time.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and Stockfish check-folded when Souza put in a bet.

Souza opened up the {4-Spades} and Stockfish laughed before saying: ''That means you had it, right?''.
