Michael Wang (taken during an earlier event)
Michael Wang (taken during an earlier event)

Michael Wang raised to 500 from mid-position and the player in the small blind three-bet to 1,500. The big blind folded and Wang four-bet to 3,800 which the small blind called.

The flop came {4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}, the player in the small blind check-shoved when Wang bet 3,850 for about 10,000. Wang snap-called.

Small Blind: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Michael Wang: {A-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

They both held an overpair in their hands but Wang had the better one with pocket aces.

The rest of the board was completed with the {6-Spades} on the turn and the {q-Diamonds} on the river for Wang's aces to hold and eliminate his opponent.

Ylon Schwartz earlier this summer

Action limped around five ways and the flop came {8-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Both blinds checked, the player under the gun bet 1,000, Ylon Schwartz called next to act, the button folded, and the small blind check-raised to 3,000.

The big blind and under-the-gun player got out of the way and Schwartz shoved over the top for 13,075, sending his opponent into the tank. After several minutes went by, he folded {8-}{7-} face-up and Schwartz took the pot.

O'Kearney Out

Nível 8 : 250/500, 75 ante
Dara O'Kearney
Dara O'Kearney

Dara O'Kearney has been eliminated and was kind enough to tell the live reporting team what had happened:

The player in the under-the-gun position raised to 1,100. O'Kearney held {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} in the cutoff and called. So did the players on the button and in the big blind.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, the big blind, the initial raiser, and O'Kearney all checked. The button bet 1,600. The big blind folded, the initial raiser shoved for about 16,000. O'Kearney was the only one to call.

His opponent held {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a flush but O'Kearney had the nut-flush.

The rest of the board was completed with a {q-} on the turn and the {8-Hearts} on the river to give O'Kearney's opponent the straight flush to take O'Kearney out of the tournament.

Roland Israelashvili earlier this summer
Roland Israelashvili earlier this summer

Niall Farrell raised to 1,600 in early position, Roland Israelashvili called from middle position, and the big blind called, as well.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and action checked around.

The {2-Spades} hit the turn and the big blind checked. Farrell bet 2,000 and Israelashvili called.

The river brought the {10-Clubs} and Farrell checked. Israelashvili bet 5,100, Farrell folded, and the dealer pushed the pot Israelashvili's way. He showed {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for the flopped nut flush and stacked his newly acquired chips.

Zinno Turns a Straight

Nível 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Anthony Zinno earlier this summer
Anthony Zinno earlier this summer

Andrew Kelsall raised to 2,300 from mid-position and got called by the player in late position. Anthony Zinno was up next to act in the hijack and he shoved for 17,500 in total. Action folded back to Kelsall who also folded. The player on Zinno's immediate right called.

Late Position: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Anthony Zinno: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

The flop came {8-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} to give Zinno a pair of tens on flop and a gutshot straight draw.

The {7-Diamonds} on the turn was exactly one of the cards Zinno was looking for to double up.

The {3-Hearts} on the river was just a formality to complete the board and Zinno got paid.

Bonyadi Takes Two in a Row Out

Nível 13 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Farhintaj Bonyadi earlier this summer
Farhintaj Bonyadi earlier this summer

Farhintaj Bonyadi, the 2018 Super Seniors bracelet winner, limped in from under the gun and action folded to Eric Baldwin on the button who shoved for 24,800 in total. The player in the big blind considered it for a while but folded. Bonyadi looked at her cards again and then called.

Eric Baldwin: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Farhintaj Bonyadi: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {6-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for Bonyadi to hit a pair on the flop and two pair on the turn to eliminate Baldwin from the Closer.

The hand right after that, the player on the button shoved for about 14,000 and Bonyadi now called in the big blind.

Button: {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Farhintaj Bonyadi: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}

Now the board ran out {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Spades} for Bonyadi to hit the higher flush to claim her next victim.

Elezra Stacks Konnikova

Nível 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Maria Konnikova
Maria Konnikova

According to the table, Maria Konnikova was left with 14,400 after losing with pocket eights to pocket sixes when the board four-flushed, and she shoved from middle position. Eli Elezra called from the hijack with a covering stack and everyone else got out of the way.

Maria Konnikova: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Eli Elezra: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}

Konnikova found herself trailing Elezra's aces and needed a lot of help from the deck to survive. The {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop was no help to Konnikova, the turn and river were both blanks, and Elezra took the pot to end Konnikova's tournament.

Hellmuth Won't Get Number 16

Nível 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth returned to just 6,500 after the break, posting ante and small blind. The action folded to the 15-time WSOP champion and he limped in. The player in the big blind put him all in and Hellmuth instantly threw in his last 2,000.

Unfortunately for Hellmuth, his {Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} was in a devastatingly bad shape as his neighbor turned up nothing less than the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.

The {2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Clubs} flop gave nothing to the Poker Brat and he stood up. It wasn't over yet when the turn arrived as the {4-Hearts} gave Hellmuth some chances but the {5-Clubs} river ended Hellmuth's tournament, only 15 spots away from paid places.
