Matt Woodward Leads 19 Players Into Day 3 of Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold'em

The final 19 players in Event #41: $1,500 Limit Hold’em are set and heading back on Friday, June 22 at 12 p.m. for a chance at the first place prize of $173,568 and a prestigious WSOP gold bracelet. 

174 hopefuls came back for Day 2 and the bubble burst in level 14. Phil Goatz shared the money for $1,123 after another opponent was eliminated at the same time. Many eliminations followed and amongst them two bracelets winners with Svetlana Gromenkova (30th - $3,974) and Philip Tom (46th - $3,010). However, multiple bracelet winners such as Mark Radoja, Brandon Cantu, and David Bach didn't make it into the money.

Matt Woodward is leading the way with 438,000 chips and with already $2,400,859 in total live earnings and five WSOP final tables in his record, he will be a serious competitor in the hunt of a gold bracelet. He’s closely followed by Robert Nehorayan (427,000) and Matt Russell (361,000).

Matt Grapenthien also bagged tonight for 238,000. The winner of the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship in 2014 will try to catch the second WSOP title of his career.

Brian Vollick (286,000) started Day 2 as the chipleader and managed to stay among the biggest stacks most of the day, is cashing here his first WSOP event ever. All the remaining players are already guaranteed of $4,711 for their efforts in this event but all have their eyes on the six-figure first place prize.

The action resumes at 12 p.m. on Friday as Event #41 plays down to a champion, with 15-minute breaks every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break after six levels (≈ 6:30 p.m.)

Vollick called a bet from Lazer, and the latter continued to bet on the {7-Spades} turn. Vollick raised and was met by a call before Lazer checked to Vollick on the {2-Clubs} river.

Vollick continued his aggression and fired another bet, and once again he was called. Vollick tabled {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for trip sevens, and Lazer mucked, to be left with a 21,000 short stack.

Start of day chip leader Vollick continues to rise and is now sat with 195,000.

The players have got right back into the action after the dinner break, and it was a very unfortunate time for Philip Tom.

Tom raised from early position and one player called before Kevin Song in the blinds can along as well.

The flop came down {j-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, and Song bet out for 4,000. Tom raised to 8,000 and the third player called. Song three-bet, Tom four-bet, and the other player got out of the way. In the end, Song and Tom got their chips in the middle.
