Bad Start for Merkow

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

One player limped in, then David Baldwin in the hijack raised to 300. The small blind and Gregg Merkow in the big blind made the call, and the limper folded.

The flop fell {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} and the action checked to Baldwin who continued for 500. Only Merkow called. On the {2-Spades} turn, Merkow check-called once more for another 500.

The river came the {7-Clubs} and this time Merkow led for 1,000. Baldwin quickly called and showed {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a set of fives. With {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} Merkow lost the pot, and he is now down to 2,400.

Luske Loses Some Chips

Marcel Luske
Marcel Luske

A player opened to 225 and was called by both the player on the button and Marcel Luske in the small blind.

The flop came {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts}, the initial raiser bet 200, and only Luske made the call. Both players then checked down the {2-Spades} and {k-Diamonds} river. Luske tabled {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}, but it wasn't good enough against the {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} in his opponent's hand.

Luske is still enjoying a good start, however, as he is up to 9,200.

Klein Gets Ramdin to Fold

Victor Ramdin

There were three players to the {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop with 1,200 in middle when Victor Ramdin, in the middle position, was checked to by Steven Klein in the small blind and a second opponent in early position. Ramdin bet 400 and was quickly raised to 800 by Klein. The third player in the pot folded before Ramdin made the call.

Both players checked on the {9-Clubs} turn, then Klein bet 1,500 after the {q-Diamonds} river fell. Ramdin gave himself a minute to think before folding.

"Good laydown," said Klein as the dealer pushed the pot towards him.

Tablemates

Nível 2 : 50/100, 0 ante
Cliff Josephy
Cliff Josephy

Two players who share the honor of having each played at a WSOP Main Event final table are Neil Blumenfield and Cliff Josephy, and today they share the same table. Both finished third in the WSOP Main Event, in fact, with Blumenfield doing so in 2015 and Josephy in 2016

Just now Josephy was involved in a hand that went all the way to a showdown with his opponent taking the pot. The board read {7-}{10-}{q-}{4-}{6-} and Josephy mucked when he saw he was up against {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} for second pair.

Meanwhile Blumenfield has come out the first level well and is up to 8,200.

Greg Raymer

A player in early position opened to 125 and it was called by two other players, as well as Greg Raymer on the button and the player in the small blind.

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and after everybody checked, Raymer bet 300. Only the small blind made the call. The {k-Spades} fell on the turn and Raymer's opponent check-called again, this time for 550.

On the {4-Diamonds} river the small blind checked again and Raymer fired 1,600. His opponent snap-moved all in for his last 2,000 and Raymer called. His opponent tabled {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and Raymer sent his cards into the muck.

Maggio Starts Well

Nível 1 : 25/50, 0 ante
Frank Maggio
Frank Maggio

As previously mentioned, last year's champion Frank Maggio is back once again to defend his title and has got off to a good start.

The action folded to Allen Quickfall in the hijack, and he called before Maggio made it 200 to go from the button. Both the players in the blinds called as did Quickfall. The flop came down {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, and when checked to Maggio continued with a bet. Both the blinds folded, but Quickfall called.

Both remaining players checked the {8-Hearts} turn, then repeated the same action on the {10-Clubs} river. Maggio revealed {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, and Quickfall mucked.
