Jeff Lisandro among the final nine
Jeff Lisandro among the final nine

The unofficial nine-handed final table of the 2018 World Series of Poker Event #31: $1,500 Seven Card Stud is set and four former bracelet winners made it through in Chris Ferguson, Jeff Lisandro, Michael Moore and Frankie O'Dell. The lion's share of the $418,500 prize pool is still up for grabs and all nine hopefuls have already locked up $6,451, the winner can look forward to the elusive gold bracelet and a payday of $105,629.

Moore leads the way with a stack of 485,000, followed by Ferguson (325,000) and Lisandro (291,000). The other finalists include Paul Sexton (276,000), Steven Albini (270,000), Katherine Fleck (226,000), Esther Rossi (186,000), Stephen Rivers (143,000) and O'Dell (74,000). It is the second Day 3 for Fleck in a few days time, as she finished 16th in Event #27: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship and also has a 4th place in Event #49: $1,500 Seven-Card Stud at the 2016 WSOP to her name.

Frankie O'Dell
Frankie O'Dell

"The WSOP is the best time of the year, you get to play for a bracelet," O'Dell said in the late stages of the day and that's what he will be doing once again at the 2018 WSOP. O'Dell has two bracelets to his name and finished runner-up in Event #12: $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-Handed, then cashed in Event #25: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better.

While the two-time WSOP bracelet winner may be the shortest stack among the nine finalists with just under four big bets, an early double up may very well put mixed game specialist O'Dell right back into contention. The action is set to resume at 2 p.m. local time on Saturday, June 16th, 2018, with level 21 and limits of 10,000/20,000.

Action of the Day

Only 82 players out of a 310-entry strong field returned to the tables of the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino and almost half of the hopefuls had to leave empty-handed, as just the top 47 spots were paid. Among the big names to bust before the money were Barbara Enright, Scott Bohlman, Carol Fuchs, Brandon Shack-Harris, Tom McEvoy and Cory Zeidman. It was a rough beat for Zeidman, who lost all but one big bet with the spades nut flush against the straight flush of Maxwell Troy in one of the memorable early hands.

On the money bubble, Danny Scott got it in with two pair, aces and jacks, only to see Robert Campbell look him up with a set of eights. Two blanks later, the bubble had burst and the min-cash of $2,250 was secured. Adam Friedman was the first to bust in the money and he was quickly followed by such big names as Ben Yu (45th - $2,250), Shirley Rosario (40th - $2,398), Dzmitry Urbanovich (37th - $2,398) and Kevin Ioacofano (35th - $2,398).

After the eliminations of Mark Radoja and Ashton Griffin, the redraw of the final three tables was reached before the dinner break at the end of the sixth level of the day. Perry Friedman (21st - $2,982) was ousted in a big three-way all in with a set of tens against the straight of Julien Martini and the higher straight of Troy. Martini's bid to win a second bracelet at the 2018 WSOP came to an end in 17th place after he had to forfeit the vast majority of his stack to Jameson Painter; the remainder of his chips were sent the same way a few minutes later.

In the last two levels of the night, the field was thinned down further and the unofficial final table was set in the very last hand of the night. Among those to depart were Painter (14th - $4,155), Troy (13th - $4,155) and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (11th - $5,110). Farhad Mobassery lost a big portion of his stack with two pair against the trips queens of Jeff Lisandro and his pair of jacks ended up second-best to the pair of queens of Moore.

Right after that the nine remaining players bagged and tagged for the night. The PokerNews live reporting team will provide continued updates from the floor until a champion is crowned.

Farhad Mobassery Eliminated in 10th Place ($6,451)

Nível 20 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Farhad Mobassery
Farhad Mobassery

In the third last hand of the night, Farhad Mobassery's stack took a massive hit when he called down bets of Jeff Lisandro and made two pair, sixes and fours on the river, only for Lisandro to show trips queens.

The very last hand of the night then reduced Mobassery's stack to zero after a clash with Michael Moore.

Michael Moore: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} / {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}{K-Spades}{2-Clubs} / {10-Spades}
Farhad Mobassery: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} / {3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds} / {A-Hearts}

Mobassery completed, Moore raised, Mobassery made it three bets and was called. Moore bet and Mobassery called on fourth before the remaining 14,500 of Mobassery went into the middle on fifth. Moore turned ober a pair of queens and Mobassery had pocket jacks, sixth and seventh bricked off to send Mobassery to the rail in 10th place for $6,451.

As a result, the field has been reduced to the last nine and they will redraw, bag up and return tomorrow for the unofficial final table. The full chip counts and a recap of today's action are to come.

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier

Stephen Richards called, Paul Sexton completed and Bertrand Grospellier came over the top, raising with the {J-Spades}. Action folded back to Sexton who looked at Grospellier's remaining stack and re-raised. Grospellier then moved all in for 1,000 and the race for his tournament life started.

Bertrand Grospellier: {10-Spades}{5-Spades} / {J-Spades}
Paul Sexton: {Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts} / {J-Hearts}

Both players had suited starting hands but neither of them made a flush. Sexton hit at least a pair of deuces while Grospellier completely bricked and bowed out in 11th place.

Maxwell Troy Eliminated in 13th Place ($4,155); Mark Barile Eliminated in 12th Place ($5,110)

Mark Barile
Mark Barile

Mark Barile was grinding a short stack for quite some time and his tally finally came to an end. He completed with a king and Katherine Fleck raised. Barile three-bet and Fleck put him all in for 3,000 more.

Barile had three Broadway cards but Fleck turned up split kings. Fleck hit trips on fifth street and Barile was drawing dead. Fleck's hand eventually improved into a full house but Barile was already on his way out.

Mark Barile: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} / {K-Clubs}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} / {3-Clubs}
Katherine Fleck: {K-Diamonds}{4-Spades} / {K-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{K-Spades}{7-Spades} / {X-}

Fortunately for Barile, he was able to make a pay jump as he finished in 12th place for $5,110, literally seconds after Maxwell Troy busted on the other table. Maxwell tangled with Paul Sexton with deuces in the hole while Sexton found buried sevens. Troy's runout wasn't strong enough and he was downed in 13th place for a $4,155 payday.

Jameson Painter Eliminated in 14th Place ($4,155)

Jameson Painter
Jameson Painter

Jameson Painter completed with an ace out and Katherine Fleck raised it up, having an ace in the door as well. Fleck barreled all following streets and Painter called the first two bets before raising all in on sixth. Fleck called.

Jameson Painter: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} / {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Katherine Fleck: {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts} / {A-Spades}{5-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}

Fleck was ahead with split aces and she peeled a king to make Painter's chances even thinner. He could only hope for one of the two remaining queens but his river card was the {7-Diamonds}, halting Painter's run in 14th place.

Farhad Mobassery: {X-}{X-} / {4-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} / {X-}

Jeff Lisandro completed with the {A-Diamonds} and Elias Hourani raised, Esther Rossi made it three bets and Farhad Mobassery called, Lisandro folded and Hourani called with a 500 chip behind. On fourth, Rossi bet and Mobassery called, Hourani called all in. Rossi bet again on fifth and sixth, picking up a call by Mobassery each time, before checking seventh.

Mobassery checked back and Hourani announced three fives, rolling over his {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Rossi turned over {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{J-} for three queens and Mobassery mucked. Hourani was eliminated in 15th place for $3,471 and all remaining 14 players have $4,155 locked up for their efforts.

Scott Cole
Scott Cole

Scott Cole was the bring-in with {2-Spades} and his left-hand opponent Jeff Lisandro completed with the {8-Spades} Esther Rossi acted next and she raised it up. Cole then moved all in for 500 more and both Lisandro and Rossi called.

"Be kind," Cole wished before fourth street was dealt.

Lisandro paired his eight on fourth but the round was checked. He led when he caught an ace on fifth and Rossi opted out, leaving Cole battling only against Lisandro.

Jeff Lisandro: {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} / {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Scott Cole: {4-Spades}{3-Spades} / {2-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

Cole needed only a backdoor miracle to survive but a {7-Hearts} already halted the sweat, eliminating him in 16th place.

Julien Martini

Julien Martini's bid to win a second bracelet during the 2018 World Series of Poker has come to an end after he lost a big pot to Jameson Painter before sending the rest over to Painter shortly after.

Julien Martini: {X-}{X-} / {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{9-Spades} / {X-}
Jameson Painter: {X-}{X-} / {4-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} / {X-}

Chris Ferguson limped in with a jack, Katherine Fleck completed with a king and Maxwell Troy called with a jack. Martini raised and Painter made it three bets. Action folded back to Martini and he called. Painter bet all further streets and Martini called fourth to sixth, getting more and more reluctant on each. Martini had just 3,000 behind on seventh and tank-folded with plenty of frustration, exposing the {8-Diamonds}.

He then doubled through Ferguson before getting it in on third against Painter.

Julien Martini: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{Q-Spades} / {X-}
Jameson Painter: {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} / 2c{J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs} / {10-Hearts}

Martini had a pair of queens on sixth, but Painter's deuces and jacks held up as Martini bricked off.

"I have a backdoor draw. One time!" Chen cheered for a good runout. But he bricked completely, ending up with just king-high while Rivers finished with two pair, aces and queens.

"Come to the Big Store!"

Nível 18 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Michael Moore
Michael Moore

Michael Moore was on the ropes just minutes ago but he's now headed upwards after taking two juicy pots which saw Julien Martini and Jameson Painter lose.

The first hand was seen on fifth street where Moore bet, earning calls from both Martini and Painter. They all checked sixth street but Martin fired again on the last round. Only Martini called.

Painter: {X-}{X-}{X-} / {8-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{10-Hearts} - fold on seventh
Martini: {X-}{X-}{X-} / {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Moore: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} / {Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Moore opened two pair and Martini mucked. "Come to the big store!" Moore said while the dealer was shipping the pot towards him.

On the next hand, it was only Painter facing off against Moore. Both players had an interesting rollout as Painter's board double paired while Moore had three-to-a-straight flush and eventually paired his nine. Painter called bets on fifth and seventh streets only to see Moore roll over two more spade cards for a flush.

Painter: {X-}{X-}{X-} / {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{K-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Moore: {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts} / {8-Spades}{9-Spades}{Q-Spades}{9-Clubs}

"Come to the big store! We're open for business!" Moore celebrated.
