Moutsatsos Doubles Through Eslami

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Jason Deutsch opened for 26,000 in middle position, and Ali Eslami reraised to 60,000 on the button. James Moutsatsos jammed for 145,000 out of the big blind, chasing out Deutsch. Eslami called.

Eslami: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Moutsatsos: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

The {7-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop gave Moutsatsos the potential to make a straight, but it was an {8-Clubs} for a set that improved him on the turn. Only a jack would spell his doom, but the river was an {a-Spades}.

Aces No Good for Nguyen

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Jason Webber opened with a raise and Mark Nguyen, Brian Hastings and Marius Pospiech called from a variety of positions to see the dealer spread a {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop fall.

Hastings and Pospiech checked from the blinds before Webber continued for 53,000 only to have Nguyen move all in for 264,000. Hastings folded, but Pospiech instantly called as Webber mucked.

Nguyen: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}
Pospiech: {K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

The turn and river landed the {Q-Clubs} and {9-Diamonds} and Nguyen was sent to the rail as Pospiech climbed to 1.4 million in chips.

Cortes Gets Lucky

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We just walked up to Table 367 when Horacio Chaves Cortes was all in for his tournament life. Cortes had 249,000 chips left and he was up against Jeffrey Chang, who had Cortes well covered.

Cortes: {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}
Chang: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}

The flop brought {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} and when Cortes saw the five he jumped up out of his chair. Chaves made a few silent fist pumps as the {3-Clubs} and the {4-Clubs} completed the board and he raked in a nice double up.

Kaiser Doubles Through Hougaard

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Jesper Hougaard raised to 28,000 from the button only to have Aaron Kaiser three-bet ship for 129,000 from the big blind. Kaiser called and the hands were turned over.

Hougaard: {3-Spades}{3-Hearts}
Kaiser: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Kaiser was in a commanding position with his pocket tens and held up through a {4-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} board, eventually making a set of tens to double. Kaiser now sits on about 282,000 in chips.

Yunis Takes One Back from Zaichenko

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Andrey Zaichenko opened from under the gun to 25,000 and both Nick Yunis and Mukul Pahuja called from the cutoff and big blind respectively.

Zaichenko continued for 40,000 on the {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop with only Yunis making the call as the {5-Clubs} landed on the turn.

After a slight pause, Zaichenko checked and Yunis tossed in 51,000 to prompt a fold from the Russian.

Jaddi Falls

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Brian Roberts opened to 30,000 from under the gun and it folded around to Sam Jaddi who called all in for his last 30,000 exactly. Sean Kelly came along from the big blind, allowing Kelly and Roberts to play for a side pot.

The flop came {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Kelly checked. Roberts checked it back, allowing the {A-Clubs} to come down on fourth street. Kelley moved 75,000 forward and Roberts quickly ditched his hand, allowing the active cards to be turned over.

Jaddi: {A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Kelly: {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Both players turned an ace, but Kelly was in the lead with his two pair of aces and sevens. The {J-Clubs} finished off the board and Jaddi was eliminated from play early on Day 5.

Ruberto Brushes Out Painter

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Tony Ruberto bet 50,000 on a {10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop from early position, and Aaron Painter struggled with the decision for a bit before picking up his stack of about 60,000 forcefully placing it in the middle. Ruberto called.

Painter: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Ruberto: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

"We need the miracle nine," Painter said.

Someone pointed out that a jack or a club would also be good cards for him.

"Come on, jack of clubs," Painter said. "...Any club."

"Nobody wants to see the red deuce?" Ruberto joked.

The turn was a {6-Diamonds}, eliminating the backdoor outs, and Ruberto got his wish with a {2-Diamonds} on the river.

Day 2a/b Chip Leader Eliminated

Nível 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Tim Stansifer
Tim Stansifer

Back on Day 2a/b, Tim Stansifer led the roughly 700 survivors with a chip stack 481,500. That allowed him to make a deep run in the Main Event, but it just came to an end here on Day 5.

It happened when Stansifer got his short stack of 130,000 or so all in preflop against Michael Palo.

Stansifer: {a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Palo: {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Stansifer had a kicker issue, and while he paired it on the {5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{9-Clubs} flop, Palo also paired his nine to maintain the lead. Neither the {6-Diamonds} turn nor {8-Clubs} river helped Stansifer, and he took his leave in 289th place for $33,734.
