Sedgeman Ships it All to Guo in Strange Pot

Nível 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Dong Guo won a massive pot with aces.
Dong Guo won a massive pot with aces.

We found Dong Guo in the big blind facing a four-bet to 258,000 from Matthew Sedgeman on the button. Guo had made it 127,000, and he announced a "raise to 120,000."

The floor was called since there was far more than 120,000 in on the last raise.

"Ohhh," Guo said with a groan. "Dammit..."

The ruling was that Guo had to make the minimum raise, and Sedgeman called the 131,000 more, seeing a {k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop. Guo made sure to do the mental math out loud about the size of the pot this time, ensuring a correct bet amount of 355,000. Sedgeman moved all in after getting a count, and Guo snap-called.

"You have aces, right?" Sedgeman asked.

"Of course."

Sedgeman: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Guo: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

Sedgeman was on the draw, but it was Guo completing a "flush draw" when the final two cards came {j-Hearts} and {8-Hearts}. Sedgeman took the unfortunate turn of events with a smile, shaking Guo's hand.

After the pot, Guo explained that the mistake was due to the way his native language works, in which numbers are said a different way than English.

Ruberto Wins Massive Pot With Ace-High; Crosses 4 Million

Nível 23 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Tony Ruberto
Tony Ruberto

Picking up the action on a {8-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{K-Clubs} board, Griffin Benger led out for 198,000 from the small blind and Tony Ruberto raised to 475,000 from the button. Benger paused for a minute before sliding in a raise to 900,000 total. Ruberto called, making the pot worth more than 2.1 million.

The {4-Hearts} completed the board and both players wasted little time before checking. Benger tabled {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a busted draw, and Ruberto showed {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for ace-high. That was good enough to scoop a massive pot and climb to second in chips.

Politano Heads to Dinner With a Fat Stack, Plus Full Chip Counts (Completo)

Nível 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Chip Leader Bruno Politano
Chip Leader Bruno Politano

The 90-minute dinner break has commenced, Bruno Politano has continued to gobble up chips during Level 22.

Politano grabbed the chip lead with a monster set-over-set pot last level, and he’s stretched it in the two hours since. With 5.271 million in chips, he holds a wide lead over second place.

Benger picked up a big pot late in the level when he picked up {a-Spades}{a-Hearts} against the {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} of Bob Miller, busting Miller when he failed to find another jack.

Benger will have the opportunity to significantly chip up (or down) before the night is over, as he just got moved to one of the secondary feature tables with fellow hefty stacks Dan Smith and Tony Ruberto. Benger’s position is ideal, as he drew Seat 4, to the immediate left of Ruberto (Seat 3) and Smith (Seat 2).

The leader coming into the day, Matthew Haugen, has been unable to gain any traction, finding himself under the 2 million mark after he came into the day toting 2.8 million.

A noble cause received a nice donation, as David Einhorn was eliminated in 173 when his {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs} failed to improve against an opponent’s {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}. Einhorn collected nearly $45,000, which will go to a charity called Robin Hood.

Former standout poker coach Brian Townsend ran his jacks into aces to bow out as well.

Blake Cahail (172nd), Rep Porter (174th), John Kabbaj (179th), Roland Israelashvili (180th), Jeff Madsen (188th) were among the other notable names exiting this level.

While you wait for the return of play, enjoy this timeless video from the 2012 WSOP Main Event where Mickey Doft races to count "the stack."

Former Leader Liporace Out

Nível 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Andrew Liporace's slide was complete when Dan Smith got the last of his chips.
Andrew Liporace's slide was complete when Dan Smith got the last of his chips.

Dan Smith verbalized a check out of the small blind on a board of {2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, and Andrew Liporace thought for about 90 seconds before pushing his whole stack forward from under the gun, a wager of about 265,000. Smith called, turning over {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}. Liporace, who led the chip counts at the conclusion of Day 3, had flopped a flush draw with {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and added a gutshot straight draw on the turn. He stood up, knowing he needed to hit the river to keep his hopes alive. The {7-Hearts} hit the felt, and he was soon shaking hands with his tablemates.

Einhorn Exits; Robin Hood Charity Benefits

Nível 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
David Einhorn
David Einhorn

David Einhorn found himself all in preflop against Matthew Sedgeman.

Unfortunately for Einhorn, he held a dominated {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs} against Sedgeman's {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}, and when the final board of {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades}{Q-Clubs} was spread, Einhorn was headed to the rail.

David EinhornSadly all done. AJ vs AQ and I couldn't find another miracle. Lots of fun and no TeddyKGB regrets. 173rd place 44,728 for @RobinHoodNYC

On the flipside however, Einhorn collects $44,728 for his 173rd place which means that the Robin Hood; a charity that fights poverty will be receiving $34,728 courtesy of the very generous and happy-go-lucky Einhorn.

David EinhornWe are in the money. @RobinHoodNYC gets whatever I win to fight poverty in New York! Time to be a short stack warrior!

Last Year's 12th-Place Finisher Eliminated

Nível 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Rep Porter
Rep Porter

Action folded to a short-stacked Rep Porter, who finished 12th in this event last year for $573,204, in the cutoff and he moved all in for his last 103,000. Mats Karlsson called from the big blind and the cards were turned up.

Porter: {j-Hearts}{8-Spades}
Karlsson: {q-Spades}{3-Spades}

Porter was behind, but he was drawing to two live cards. The {6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop didn't do much for him, and neither did the {3-Diamonds} turn. Porter needed to pair one of his cards, but that didn't happen as the {4-Diamonds} blanked on the river.

Aoki's Pursuit of Happiness

Nível 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Mikiyo Aoki
Mikiyo Aoki

Mikiyo Aoki just won another big pot and bumped her stack up to 2.56 million, which means she's now in the Top 10 with 174 players remaining.

We caught the action on the turn when the board read {3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, as Eddy Sabat put in 225,000 to call Aoki's raise.

Aoki was seated on the button and on the river, the {10-Hearts}, Sabat checked to his opponent. Aoki quickly bet 275,000 and Sabat tanked for a couple of minutes.

"I need to call the clock on myself," Sabat finally said, leaving the dealer very confused.

"What?" the dealer said.

"Yes, I want the clock on myself," Sabat repeated himself and the dealer called a member of the floor staff over.

"This player wants to call the clock on himself," the dealer said.

"You can't call the clock on yourself," the member of the floor staff said.

"Clock," Scott Palmer immediately said, helping Sabat's cause.

The clock was winding down on Sabat and within 10 seconds he made the call.

Aoki turned over {J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and she raked in the pot with a flush, as Sabat shook his head knowing he was left with a small stack.

Nichols Eliminated by Waxman

Nível 22 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Matthew Waxman
Matthew Waxman

Action folded around to Grayson Nichols in the small blind and he shipped all in for about 240,000. Matt Waxman called from the big blind and the cards were turned over.

Nichols: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}
Waxman: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The two were racing for Nichols' tournament life heading to the flop. The dealer produced a {4-Hearts}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs} flop, pairing Waxman's jack and giving him the lead in the hand. Nichols found no solace on the turn ({9-Hearts}) or the river ({3-Spades}) and he was eliminated from play. Waxman pulled in the pot and now has 2.4 million in chips.
