Break Time; Level 15 Concludes, Now Just 10 From the Money

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Huck Seed
Huck Seed

With Level 15 officially in the books, players are now on a 20-minute break. The day began with just 53 minutes on the clock and the field is now closer to the money than ever. The clock currently reads that 703 players remain with the top 693 players guaranteed a cash.

This level saw the final WSOP Main Event champion left fall from play. Huck Seed was eliminated at the hands of Dan Smith, meaning there will be a brand new WSOP Main Event champion this year.

Phil Ivey also saw his chip stack grow this level, busting Robert Gaudio at the ESPN feature table.

Speaking of Ivey, our very own Remko Rinkema recently caught up with Dustin Iannotti to talk about picking Ivey's online screen name in the latest edition of Ivey Stories. Check it out below.

Bardah Doubles

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Ronnie Bardah
Ronnie Bardah

Action folded to Ronnie Bardah in the cutoff seat, and he raised all in for 35,500. In the next seat was Eric Cloutier, and he made the call. Everyone else folded, and it was Bardah at risk with the {A-Spades}{8-Clubs} against Cloutier's {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

"I need to win this flip to fulfill my legacy," said Bardah, referencing his consecutive cash streak that could set a new record if he makes the money this year.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, and Cloutier stayed in front. The turn was the {7-Hearts}, and Bardah picked up some extra outs with an open-ended straight draw.

"I have all the outs!" Bardah blurted out.

The river was the {A-Clubs}, and Bardah's head fell into his hands as he knew he had hit the double he needed to stay alive.

Yousefzadeh Cracks Aces

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Mehrdad Yousefzadeh opened the pot from the hijack to 11,000 only to have Boyce move all in for 49,500. After a few moments posturing, Yousefzadeh made the call to put Boyce at risk.

Boyce: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Yousefzadeh: {Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}

With Boyce in great shape to double, the {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop gave Yousefzadeh a plethora of outs, and when the {Q-Clubs} landed on the turn, he took the lead with trip. The {9-Hearts} landed on the river, improving Yousefzadeh further to a full house and sending Boyce and his aces to the rail.

Miles' Queens Hold Up

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Andrey Zaichenko raised to 10,000 under the gun and the action folded to Ali Eslami who called in position. Daniel Miles, seated in the small blind, moved all in for 84,500 and Zaichenko tanked for a long time before making the call.

Eslami folded his cards and the showdown went as following.

Zaichenko: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Miles: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{J-Spades} and Miles found himself a double-up right before the money bubble.

Ivey Busts Gaudio at the Mothership

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

After a slow start at the ESPN feature table in which Phil Ivey didn't win a hand during the first orbit, Ivey is trending up again after eliminating Robert Gaudio.

Gaudio opened to 8,000 from the button and Ivey three-bet from the small blind. Jin Wang released from the big blind and Gaudio moved all in for 127,500. Ivey snap-called and the cards were tabled.

Gaudio: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Ivey: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The {6-Spades}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} flop increased Ivey’s lead as he added a flush draw. The {3-Diamonds} on the turn changed nothing, and the {K-Spades} on the river completed Ivey’s flush to send Gaudio to the rail short of the money.

Final Remaining Champion Seed Falls

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Huck Seed was the last remaining Main Event champ.
Huck Seed was the last remaining Main Event champ.

Huck Seed opened to 8,500 in the cutoff, and Dan Smith three-bet to 21,000 on the button. The big blind went into the tank, and Smith called for time. As soon as the tournament director arrived, the big blind mucked.

"Stay close," Smith said. "He's been taking a long time every hand."

Seed four-bet to 80,000, leaving himself about the same amount behind. Smith said he was all in, and Seed called.

Smith: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Seed: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

"All in and a call," the dealer announced.

"Deal fast, before they show up," Seed joked, referring to the cameras that would come catch him all in with queen-high.

The {2-Spades}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop gave Seed some hope with a straight draw, but the {a-Hearts} and {3-Clubs} were bricks, sending the 1996 Main Event champion to the rail just short of the money. American pro Smith, meanwhile, has a massive stack to work with as the bubble approaches.

Hamnett vs. Kaverman: Only One Will Survive

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Ben Hamnett earlier in the Main Event.
Ben Hamnett earlier in the Main Event.

2012 World Poker Tour Borgata Open champ Ben Hamnett recently got his stack all in preflop against Byron Kaverman, who finished runner-up in the WPT Championship earlier this year.

Hamnett: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Kaverman: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

It was your classic race, but Hamnett needed to improve to keep his tournament life alive. The {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop was pretty dry, and so was the {6-Spades} turn. Hamnett needed either an ace or queen on the river to double, but it wasn't in the cards as the {10-Spades} blanked. Kaverman was pushed the pot while Hamnett exited the 2014 WSOP Main Event empty-handed.

Wilke Climbs Over One Million

Nível 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Picking up with the action on a {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop, we found Jesse Wilke lead out with a bet of 25,000. His lone opponent, Darlene Lee, tossed out calling chips.

Fourth street paired the board with the {Q-Clubs} and Wilke continued his aggression, moving 55,000 into the middle. Lee stuck around once more with a call, allowing the {4-Hearts} to finish off the community cards. Wilke cut out one last bet of 150,000. Lee called, showing just one hole card — the {Q-Hearts} — for trips. Her lone queen was no good, however, as Wilke tabled {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for queens full of tens. He dragged in this sizable pot and his stack now sits on 1.178 million.
