The Power's Gone

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Chad Power
Chad Power

Chad Power, chip leader after the second level of the day, has just been knocked out by Trevor Reardon. When we arrived on the scene another player had taken Power's seat and Cliff Goldkind was kind enough to explain to us what happened.

"He lost a huge pot where he got it all in with a straight against a player with a turned straight," Goldkind said. Power's opponent rivered quad aces and doubled up to around 75,000 chips. That man was Trevor Reardon from England and he's now sitting on a comfortable stack.

A little while later Power ended up all in with {Q-}{J-} against another player's {A-}{8-} and the board brought him no help.

Jacobson Puts Zeidman to the Test

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

Martin Jacobson raised to 900 in early position, Cory Zeidman three-bet to 3,100 on the button, and a player cold-called out of the big bling.

"How much do you have behind?" Jacobson asked Zeidman.

"Around twenty," Zeidman told the Swede. "Not enough to put a dent in your stack."

Jacobson made the call, and the flop fell {4-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{q-Spades}. The action checked to Zeidman, he continued for 6,100, the player in the big blind folded, and Jacobson lazily tossed out a handful of orange T5,000 chips, setting Zeidman all in.

Zeidman let out a long sigh.

"Nice bet," he said after a two-minute tank, folding his hand.

Jacobson silently slid his own cards into the muck, and dragged the pot.

Ashton Slips a Little Further

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

A raise to 800 from middle position was three-bet to 1,700 by the hijack. Matthew Ashton was the big blind and he cold-called the three-bet, as did the initial raiser.

The players checked around to the hijack on the {7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} flop, the hijack bet 2,500 and only Ashton called. Ashton checked the {2-Diamonds} turn, the hijack bet 7,000 (leaving only 9,050) behind and Ashton placed his cards in the muck.

Pahuja Wins Big From McLellan

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Mukul Pahuja
Mukul Pahuja

There was an open to 900 and Duncan McLellan raised it to 1,900. Mukul Pahuja was on the button and made it 5,300. The original raiser got out of the way and McLellan stuck in a five-bet to 16,900.

Pahuja stared McLellan down and made the call. The flop was {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and McLellan bet 20,400. More intense staring from Pahuja before he made the call. The turn card was the {3-Diamonds} and now McLellan checked. Pahuja bet 38,000 and stared hard again.

McLellan had a big decision to make as the turn bet was around half of his remaining stack. He mulled it over for several minutes before saying he had the best hand but made the fold.

Yevgeniy Timoshenko to his right asked him if he folded aces but McLellan said he had queens.

An Intense Chop

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
David Shaw
David Shaw

David Shaw, one of the biggest stacks in the room, has lost some chips but he's still sitting on around 92,000 after chopping a big pot just now.

When we arrived on the scene Shaw had put in an 11,000 pre flop raise while the big blind had 4,250 out in front of him. The big blind eventually called and the flop came down {10-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Spades}.

Both players tanked for a bit and checked.

On the turn the {J-Clubs} hit and the big blind checked after which Shaw bet 13,000. The big blind called with just 15,000 behind and the river was the {J-Diamonds}.

Both players checked again and Shaw tabled {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. The big blind showed {A-Spades}{K-Hearts} and the pot was chopped.

Phan Gets Value From Aces

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante

From middle position, Tim Phan raised to 1,100. Naoya Kihara called from the hijack seat, the player in the small blind called, and David Paredes called out of the big blind.

All four players saw the flop come down {8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and the first two checked the action over to Phan. He bet 2,300, Kihara called, then the other two folded.

On the turn, the dealer added the {5-Spades} to the board. Phan checked, Kihara bet 5,100, and Phan called.

Then, after the {4-Clubs} river card, Phan led for 9,500. Kihara tanked, then called.

Phan tabled the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and Kihara mucked his hand.
