Almost five weeks into the 2014 World Series of Poker and Event #56 of the 65 scheduled tournaments this year gets underway shortly.

This is the last $1,000 event the summer at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, and with last year’s winner, Matt Waxman, walking away with $305,952 it is one of the few remaining chances for a bank roll booster before the Main Event begins les then a week away.

The fields have been consistently large so far this year with a few record breakers, and there is expected to be another decent turn out looking to top last year’s 1,837 entrants.

You should know the drill by now; cards are in the air at 12 p.m. for a scheduled eleven levels of one-hour play with a 90 minute dinner break after level six. Players receive 3,000 in Tournament Chips with blinds starting at 25-25.

Join the PokerNews Live Reporting team as we bring you all the coverage of this three day event from cards in the air to the awarding of another WSOP gold bracelet.

One Hand and Out

Nível 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

We arrived at the table to see an all-in and a call on the turn of a board showing {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}.

The player who moved all in asked Frank Patti, “You got a flush?” and turned over {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}.

“No.” Patti told him and turned over {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

The river was the {k-Diamonds} and Patti made a higher flush leading his opponent to say, “Wow. One hand.”

A Little Pressure

Nível 1 : 25/25, 0 ante

There was a raise from under the gun to 75 and Jonathan Little and the two blinds called. Four players went to a flop of {j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. The blinds checked and the original raiser bet 150.

Little three-bet to 475 and when the blinds folded he got a call and they went to the turn card {10-Clubs}. The raiser check-called a bet of 800 from Little and the river was the {5-Clubs}. Checked to Little he moved all in.

After a few moments of staring at the board Little’s opponent folded and pot was pushed his way.

At the end of the first level of play there are 2,031 entrants, breaking the 1,837 set last year.

Jennifer Tilly is in the field and we spotted her three-betting to 600 from the big blind to take it down.

David Peters looks like he lost some chips but got a little back with a well-disguised {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} prompting his opponent to give and admiring, “Well played.”
