Burr Busts Israelashvili

Nível 13

2-7 Triple Draw

We picked up the action on the second draw when Melissa Burr stood pat and Roland Israelashvili, who was already all in, drew one. That action repeated itself on the third draw, and before Israelashvili looked at his cards, he asked to see Burr's.

Burr tabled a 7-6-4-3-2 low, which meant Israelashvili, who was drawing to a 7-6-4-2, could only tie with a three. He flipped over his last card and it was a useless {K-}. Israelashvili collected his things, and as he made his way off the tournament floor, his former table was broke.

Phil Ivey Hits The Rail

Stud

Under unknown circumstances, Phil Ivey has been eliminated. Scott Seiver was kind enough to share a little information about his bust out. Seiver explained that Ivey was very short when he ended up all in with a pair of fours in stud against Seiver's aces. Ivey couldn't improve and was eliminated.

With the elimination, Ivey's rocky summer continued as he's only managed to notch just one cash at the 2014 WSOP.

Berman Doubles, Then Busts

Lyle Berman - Eliminated
Lyle Berman - Eliminated

2-7 Triple Draw

Action folded to Mike Leah in the small blind and he put out a raise. A short-stacked Lyle Berman moved all in from the big blind for his last 14,500 and Leah called. Leah took one on the first draw while Berman opted for three. On the second draw, both players pulled one. For the final draw, Leah took one and Berman stood pat.

Berman: {10-}{9-}{7-}{6-}{4-}
Leah: {7-}{6-}{3-}{2-}

Leah squeezed out his final card to see that it was the {A-Hearts}. He failed to best Berman's ten-nine and Berman shipped the double to 29,000.

Unfortunately for Berman, he was still short-stacked and was eliminated from play soon after.

A Big One for Kassela

Frank Kassela
Frank Kassela

2-7 Triple Draw

Frank Kassela raised from the button, David Steicke three-bet from the small blind and John Hennigan called from the big. Kassela put in the four-bet and both blinds called.

On the first draw, Steicke and Kassela took one card while Hennigan needed two.

The action was checked to Kassela who bet, Steicke raised, Hennigan and Kassela called. On the second draw, all three players took one card.

Steicke checked to Hennigan who bet, Kassela raised and Steicke folded. Hennigan called and on the last draw, both players stood pat.

Hennigan checked and immediately Kassela turned over his cards, {7-}{6-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. Hennigan mucked and Kassela sighed that he missed value again.

"Why didn't you bet?" Steicke asked.

"I don't know," Kassela said as he raked in yet another big pot.

Allen Kessler checked to Jason Mercier on a flop of {k-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, and he fired out 31,000. David Steicke called in position, Kessler folded, and the turn was the {j-Clubs}.

Mercier reached into his stack, betting another 62,500, and Steicke tank-called. The {4-Clubs} completed the board and Mercier emptied the chamber, firing a third and final bullet worth 87,000. Steicke pulled out enough chips to make the call, mulled the decision over for two minutes or so, then committed it.

The two-time WSOP bracelet winner revealed {k-Spades}{6-Spades} for kings and sixes, and Steicke mucked.

The Cynical Old Man Knocks Out Brian Hastings

2-7 Triple Draw

"I said that I was going to knock him out on his birthday, I almost forgot," Frank Kassela said with a big smile as the dealer made reference to something the 2010 WSOP Player of the Year said.

Kassela has just knocked out Brian Hastings on his birthday, and he told us what happened.

Kassela made an eight perfect against Hastings' eight-six and that was it for the former winner of the $10,000 Heads Up Championship.

"I'm just a cynical old man," Kassela added, "I don't give a s**t about birthdays."

The players at the table, including Kassela, laughed. The tournament is now down to 37 players.

Seiver Does the Harlem Shakerchi

Nível 13
Talal Shakerchi

No-Limit Hold'em

We saw Talal Shakerchi exiting the tournament area, and by the time we made our way over to the table, the cards had been scooped up. Fortunately for us, Andy Bloch remembered a bit of the action.

According to him, the hand began when Scott Seiver limped from the cutoff and Bloch raised to 15,000 from the button. A short-stacked Shakerchi then moved all in for 16,000 from the big, both his opponents called, and it was off to the flop.

Bloch didn't specify, but summed the hand up by saying Seiver, who held {q-}{8-}, ended up making a pair of eights on the turn. It proved good as Shakerchi's hand failed to top it. Thus ends Shakerchi's $50,000 Poker Players' Championship adventure.

Calvin Anderson: {x-}{x-} / {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{a-Spades}{k-Hearts} / {x-}

Mosseri brought it in, Leah called, Duhamel completed, and Anderson raised. Only Duhamel called. Anderson led out on fourth and fifth street, Duhamel called both bets, and Anderson tossed out another bet on sixth. This time, the 2010 WSOP Main Event champion raised, and Anderson called.

Anderson slowed down, checked for the first time on seventh, and Duhamel tossed out a bet. Anderson called, and Duhamel ripped over {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for an eight-high straight and an eight-seven low. Anderson flashed {k-Clubs}{5-}{2-} for aces up, then mucked.
