2014 World Series of Poker
Schemelev Smiles
Stud 8
On third street the action was three handed between Scott Seiver, Chun Lei Zhou and Vladimir Schemelev. On fourth it was Schemelev who paired his hand and he bet, Zhou called and Seiver folded.
Fifth street had Schemelev betting again and Zhou called. On sixth street Zhou called another bet and on seventh it was Schemelev who checked. Zhou looked down at his cards, bet and his Russian opponent called.
Zhou waved his cards in a manner that suggested he did not have the best hand. Schemelev showed and his pair of eights took down the pot. The Russian pro, who finished second in this event in 2010 and 10th in 2011, put up a huge smile and well into the next hand he kept it going.
"Look," Scott Seiver said, as he pointed at Schemelev, "He's still smiling!"
Schemelev indeed kept smiling as he's slowly rebuilding his stack.

Jack-Ten Low is Good For Burr
Razz
Benson: / /
Burr: / /
We picked up with the action on fourth street to see Gary Benson and Melissa Burr each pull a king. Benson checked and Burr knuckled the table back, allowing fifth street to hit the felt. Benson received an eight on fifth and led out with a bet. Burr stayed the course and both picked up jacks on sixth. Benson bet out again and Burr called.
On seventh street, Benson peered at his final card and cut out one last bet. Burr thought for about 15 seconds before flinging forward a call.
"Good call," said Benson.
Burr rolled over for jack-ten low. Benson mucked his cards and Burr raked a pot that brings her stack to right around 410,000.
