Jen Harman Out in Front
Jen Harman Out in Front

Welcome back to our ongoing coverage of the 2014 World Series of Poker! The final 36 players in Event #13: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball return to the felt today with the goal of playing down to a final table of seven. Jen Harman is at the front of the pack heading into the day with 133,800 in chips.

Yesterday's play saw most of poker's elite hit the felt in what is certain to be one of the smallest events of the 2014 WSOP. With just 87 entrants, this intimate event was filled to the brim with notable names. Some of the big stacks returning for Day 2 include Shawn Sheikhan (122,400), Galen Hall (120,000), Ashton Griffin (119,000), Brian Rast (111,700), Paul Volpe (103,200), and Mike Watson (102,800).

Coming back with the second largest stack in the room is 2011 $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball champion John Juanda. Juanda bagged 124,300 on Day 1 and will certainly be a force to be reckoned with as the day progresses. Juanda final tabled this event four years in a row (2009-2012) where he scored two fourths, a first, and a sixth place.

Other notable names coming back include Greg Mueller (90,200), Daniel Negreanu (89,600), Jean-Robert Bellande (85,700), 2010 $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball champion and last year's runner-up David "Bakes" Baker (83,000), Jason Mercier (57,900), Shaun Deeb (55,500), Phil Hellmuth (52,100), Frank Kassela (32,700), Barry Greenstein (32,200), and two-time No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball champion Nick Schulman (14,200).

Play kicks off at 2 p.m. local time where the field is expected to play a full ten levels. As always, be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for the most up to date information from the tournament felt.

Nguyen Doubles Through Mueller

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 400 ante

Don Nguyen was on the button and moved all in for his last 30,400 over an open from Greg Mueller. Mueller called the raise and announced that he was pat. Nguyen quickly announced that he was also pat.

"Jack," said Mueller, fanning {J-}{9-}{7-}{6-}{2-}

"Eight-seven perfect," replied Nguyen, tabling a winning {8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

Nguyen raked in the double up early on Day 2 and now sits right around 64,000 in chips.

Porter Doubles, Schulman and Mizrachi Fall

Nick Schulman - Eliminated
Nick Schulman - Eliminated

Shawn Sheikhan raised to 4,200 from under the gun and Rep Porter three-bet all in over the top for 24,400. Nick Schulman moved all in for less from the next seat over for roughly 11,000 total. Action folded back around to Sheikhan and he announced a call.

Sheikhan drew one card, Porter stood pat, and Schulman opted for one as well.

Porter instantly tabled his pat seventy-six with {7-}{6-}{5-}{4-}{2-}.

"Shit," sighed Sheikhan, showing {8-}{7-}{4-}{2-}.

Schulman showed {8-}{6-}{3-}{2-} and was also drawing dead against Porter's made hand. Schulman's hand finished off with a {J-} and Sehikhan's with an {a-}, finalizing Porter's domination in this hand. Schulman was eliminated from play and Porter score more than a double up to boost his stack to about 65,000.

Simultaneously, at the next table over, Michael Mizrachi was eliminated from play by Brian Rast.

Wright Jumps Into Chip Lead

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 400 ante

Darren Elias was under the gun and made it 4,000 to go. Bob Bright called from the cutoff and action folded over to Larry Wright in the big blind. Wright wasted little time cutting out a three-bet to 12,000. Elias called and Bright ditched his hand.

For the draw, Wright stood pat and Elias drew one new card. Wright checked and Elias waited about twenty seconds before checking it back. Wright fanned {10-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-} for a ten-low which was enough to scoop the pot. Wright now sits on the biggest stack in the room with about 150,000 in chips.

Danzer Doubles Through Harman

Nível 11 : 800/1,600, 400 ante

We arrived at the table in time to find George Danzer all in and at risk before the draw for his last 25,700 against Jen Harman. Danzer took one card while Harman opted to stand pat.

Danzer showed {9-}{8-}{4-}{3-} and pulled a {5-} to make his ninety-eight. Harman's hand was mucked and Danzer was pushed the double-up. He's now sitting on about 52,000 in chips.
