Charania Can't Cash in on Madsen's Bounty

Nível 4 : 75/150, 0 ante
Jeff Madsen in early WSOP APAC action.
Jeff Madsen in early WSOP APAC action.

We saw Jeff Madsen was no longer in his chair, and a quick check with Mohsin Charania confirmed that the 2006 World Series of Poker Player of the Year had been eliminated from the tournament.

Charania explained that Madsen had raised under the gun with {a-}{a-}. Charania flatted with {4-}{4-}, the flop came down {j-}{7-}{4-}, and Madsen continued for 600. Charania shoved all in for 4,900, and Madsen called. He'd fail to catch an ace, and Charania doubled on the hand.

Madsen was left with just 250 and moved from the table immediately after the hand, meaning his $500 bounty went to some other player among the masses.

Bad Beat Sends Cohen to the Rail

Nível 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

After Fred Alam opened for 300 and the player in the small blind flatted, Sam Cohen three-bet all in for 3,775. Alam thought for a few moments before making the call, the small blind folded, and the cards were turned up.

Alam: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Cohen: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

The {10-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flop paired both players' king, but of course Cohen's ace kicker had her well out in front. The {Q-Diamonds} turn made things interesting as Alam picked up an open-ended straight draw. The dealer burned one last time and put out the {A-Hearts}. Cohen made two pair, but she didn't want to as the ace also gave Alam Broadway.

Cohen sent her $500 Terminator chip over to Alam and then took her leave from the tournament.

Brabin Won't Capture 2nd Bracelet Here in Event #4

Nível 4 : 75/150, 0 ante
Luke Brabin
Luke Brabin

Yesterday Luke Brabin became the first bracelet winner of the 2014 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific when he took down Event #1 $1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Accumulator for AU$131,365. After receiving his bracelet in a ceremony earlier today, Brabin hopped in Event #4 hoping to capture some more hardware. That's not in the cards though.

A preflop raising war resulted in Luke Brabin getting his last 2,550 all in preflop against Fred Alam and another player.

Alam: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Brabin: {a-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Opponent: {6-Spades}{7-Spades}

Brabin called for a nine, but his pleas fell on deaf ears as the board ran out {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. The unknown player won the hand and laid claim to Brabin's $500 bounty.

Bowen Busts Negreanu

Nível 4 : 75/150, 0 ante

We noticed reigning World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific champ Daniel Negreanu was no longer in the tournament, and Jonathan Little was kind enough to full us in on what happened.

According to him, Negreanu got his last 10 big blinds all in preflop and was called by both David Bowen and another player. Those two checked the {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop as well as the {6-} turn, and then Bowen bet 1,000 into the 4,500 pot on the {A-} river. The third player folded and Bowen tabled the {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a flopped flush. Negreanu flashed {9-}{9-} and then took his leave in the closing minutes of Level 4.

Bojang Survives Van Dort the Terminator

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Mark Van Dort, who is seated at the feature table, is already showing a profit in this tournament. He's collected four bounties thus far, which means he's guaranteed to make at least $2,000 in this event. Van Dort almost made it five as he had Ismael Bojang, who was fresh off an 11th-place finish in Event #3 $1,650 Pot-Limit Omaha, in his crosshairs.

Bojang had gotten his short stack all in preflop against the player in the small blind and Van Dort in the big. The {10-Hearts}{a-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop saw the small blind bet 725, Van Dort call, and then both players checked the {8-Clubs} turn. When the {J-Spades} completed the board on the river, the small blind bet 900 and Van Dort released his hand.

The small blind showed the {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for a rivered pair of jacks, but it wasn't good enough to collect the bounty as Bojang survived with the {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of aces.

Off to the Races for Little

Nível 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Jonathan Little got his stack of 3,150 all in preflop and found himself racing for his tournament life.

Little: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}
Opponent: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Little was ahead, but he needed his pocket pair to hold against suited overs. The {6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop was safe enough, and so was the {10-Hearts} turn. All Little needed to do was dodge a queen and jack on the river, which is exactly what he did when the harmless {A-Spades} peeled off.
