Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

After nine levels of 45 minutes each on Day 1 of the Triton Poker Cyprus Special Edition Event #2: $100,000 NLH 8-Handed, it is Australia's Michael Addamo who has gone to bed with the narrow chip lead of 1,058,000 over Tom Vogelsang who bagged 1,019,000.

The $100,000 buy-in tournament attracted 33 unique players to the poker tables here in the amazing Merit Crystal Cove Resort & Casino and with 18 reentries, this tallied up to 51 entries in total. With late registration still open for the first level of Day 2, more players are expected to jump in to join the 27 Day 1 survivors.

Addamo won a big part of his stack when he eliminated Johan Guilbert twice, once with pocket kings and once with pocket tens. Vogelsang earned a lot of his chips when he doubled up through Paul Phua when he had flopped the higher flush than Phua had. Completing the top five are Teun Mulder, Danny Tang, and Chris Brewer to give us a top five of players hailing from four different countries.

Day 1 Action

Action took some time to get started as the proceedings kicked off with a slight delay but there was no shortage of hands going to showdown, It took 90 minutes before Seth Davies was the unlucky player to become the first casualty of the day when he six-bet shoved with pocket aces to see them get cracked by the kings of Daniel Dvoress.

He wasn't the only one to bust throughout the day, most of them came back at some point during the late registration period except for Dan Cates. He busted his first bullet, wandered around the tournament floor for a while, and then disappeared. Davies, Timothy Adams, Nick Petrangelo, and Matthias Eibinger were some of the players who busted in the last level of the night and will probably be back on Day 2 after a good night's sleep.

Tom Vogelsang
Tom Vogelsang ended Day 1 with the second-biggest stack

Plan for Day 2

The players will return at 1 p.m. EEST to continue with Level 10 which features a small blind of 4,000, a big blind of 8,000, and a big blind ante of 8,000. The level duration will remain at 45 minutes throughout the day. Once Level 10 has ended, the late registration period will also close with the prize pool details to be announced after.

No redraw will take place for Day 2 but instead, there will be a redraw for the final three and two tables and the actual final table itself. A 10-minute break will take place after every two levels with a dinner break scheduled after Level 17 or when the final table has been reached.

The Triton Poker live stream will be up and running again on YouTube and Twitch from the start with the hole cards on display on a 30-minute security delay.

Ensure you're back for all the action on Monday, April 4 at 1 p.m. local time as play will continue a new champion can be crowned. The PokerNews live reporting team will be there bring you all the updates from the first shuffle until the final river card has been dealt.

Artur Martirosian
Artur Martirosian

With 16,500 in the middle, the flop read {4-Spades}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

Artur Martirosian checked in the big blind and Viacheslav Buldygin bet 7,000 which Martirosian called.

The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Martirosian checked again, Buldygin fired a bet of 30,000 out for Martirosian to call again.

The {5-Diamonds} completed the board on the river and they both checked. Martirosian showed the {7-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the pair of sevens and for Buldygin to snort and chuckle at the same time from disbelief.
