Teun Mulder of the Netherlands is the latest winner at 2022 Triton Poker Cyprus after taking down Event #2: $100,000 NLH 8-Handed for $1,940,000, defeating fellow Dutch pro Tom Vogelsang during heads-up play, who in turn takes home $1,390,000.

The high-roller tournament attracted 69 entrants to generate a prize pool of $6,624,000. Players in the field included Johan Guilbert, Mikita Badziakouski, Cary Katz, Sam Greenwood, Stephen Chidwick, Ben Heath, Chris Brewer and Michael Addamo.

A total of nine spots paid out in the tournament, and it was Hungary's Andras Nemeth who went out on the money bubble when he got it in with ace-five and Vogelsang made a straight holding jack-six. Nemeth was looking for his second victory of the series after taking down Event #1: $50,000 NLH 6-Handed for $1,082,000.

Final Table Action

Earlier out at the final table was 2021 GPI Player of the Year Ali Imsirovic, who bowed out in eighth for $251,700 when he ran ace-four into the Big Slick of Vogelsang. Vogelsang went on to send Paul Phua out next in seventh for $324,500 when the Malaysian high-roller's pocket tens were out-flopped by the eventual runner-up's jack-ten.

Mike Watson had the final table chip lead at one point but ultimately fell in fourth place for $683,300 after calling off with top pair, only to be outkicked by Jake Schindler.

Schindler took the chip lead but lost nearly his full stack in a gut-wrenching suckout where Schindler got it in with pocket queens against the pocket four of Mulder, who spiked a four on the river to stay alive. Schindler ended up falling in third place for $903,000 when he flopped top pair but couldn't hold against the flush draw of Mulder.

Heads-up play lasted only two hands as the two Dutch players tangled in a hand where Mulder made a ten-high straight on the river to crush the queen-high straight of Vogelsang. Vogelsang led out with a river bet and snap-called when Vogelsang raised all-in, locking up the victory for Mulder and earning him the seven-figure score.

That wraps up PokerNews' coverage of Event #2: $100,000 NLH 8-Handed. Triton Poker Cyprus continues tomorrow with Event #3: $75,000 Short Deck.
