Nicolas "niccc" Chouity just became the latest PokerStars 2020 Spring Championship of Online Poker after he topped a field of 1,112 players in Event #75-M: $1,050 PLO 6-Max Main Event to walk away with the $154,039 first-place prize.

The three-day tournament came with a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000, though that number was smashed by a wide margin, amassing an official prize pool of $1,112,000. The prize pool was shared across the 143 players that made it into the money, a feat that was accomplished in the early stages of Day 2.

Chouity came into the final day sitting 12th in chips out of the 18 returning players and won a few early hands to keep that sack at bay. From there he steadily gained chips before taking a huge hit right before the start of the final table.

It was there where Chouity gained back momentum winning crucial double-ups before becoming the eventual champion after he overcame a massive 4:1 chip deficit to defeat Sweden's "BomPang" in heads-up action.

Final Day Action

The final day saw 18 players return for Day 3 with each player already guaranteed to walk away with least at $7,194.

From the first second the virtual cards went in the air the bodies started dropping as the first three players fell in the first hand of the day while notable's Mike "SirWatts" Watson (15th - $9,128) and André "Sira Al Aziz" Santos (14th - $11,582) fell in quick succession shortly after.

After another three virtual bodies dropped from the playing field, Max "goodeh99" Silver found himself in a tough spot, leaving himself with less than one big blind as he would fall the very next hand in 10th place.

After Silver's demise, "icekey888" and "Johan5390" would be eliminated shortly after setting the stage for the unofficial final table.

Final Table Action

With the final table being set with seven players, it was Russia's "Bagrovui" who sat down with the top stack holding over a quarter of the chips in play.

"Bagrovui" utilized his chip stack from the moment play started as they accumulated more and more in chips without ever having to show a hand until he eliminated Ignat "0Human0" Liviu in seventh place and in doing so, held over half of the chips in play.

The Final Six

A full level of double-ups occurred before the next person was eliminated. "magiet12" got their short stack in the middle after flopping a pair of tens and was called by the eventual champ Chouity. It was a rollercoaster of an all in for "magiet12" as they were behind on the flop, then pulled ahead on the turn, only to fall behind once again after Chouity rivered a set of kings to send them out in sixth place ($30,016).

Almost another full level of double-ups happened before Adam "Adamyid" Owen hit the rail. Owen came into the final day as the chip leader but had a rough final day that ended the same way. After calling a preflop raise from "Bagrovui", Owen got his short-stack in the middle after flopping top-pair and was called by "Bagrovui" who held a pair of kings. Owen turned some life hitting two-pair only to see it fade away after "Bagrovui" rivered a set of kings ending his night in fifth place ($42,787).

A Fast Fall

"Bagrovui" continued his quest for victory with yet another elimination, that of Mathias "giftmyra" Joelsson who couldn't connect with the runout ending his night in fourth place ($60,990).

Three-handed play began with "Bagrovui" holding over 70 million in chips but saw it dwindle in short fashion after amassing such a lead. It only took one short level before "Bagrovui" saw themselves at the bottom of three-handed action. They received two small double-ups but it was short-lived as they couldn't keep their hot streak going as they fell in a cooler to "BomPang" in third place ($86,938).

Then There Were Two

Heads-up play began with the two players going a short break to talk about chop options but they couldn't come to an agreement as "BomPang" held 4:1 chip advantage. The deficit in chips didn't deteriorate Chouity as he took the lack of agreement and turned it into victory winning two double-ups to turn the tide.

It only took one hand from there before "BomPang" got his 9 million stack in the middle holding pocket nines only to fall for Chouity's pocket kings.
