Pavel "silentm0de" Plesuv has just won the 2020 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker Event #73-H: $2,100 NLHE [Sunday Warm-UP SE], topping a field of 502 entries to earn the first-place prize of $177,964. Plesuv's win came in dominating fashion, coming out on top of Brazil's Joao "XxJoaoFeraxX" Otavio to claim victory Monday.

The two-day tournament came with a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000, though that number was surpassed by a wide margin, with a massive $1,002,000 being up for grabs. The prize pool was shared across the 62 players that made it into the money, a feat which was accomplished during the nine hours of play that occurred on Sunday's Day 1.

Plesuv came into Day 2 with a top-five stack among the 37 that remained, and he enjoyed an upward trajectory to his stack throughout the entirety of the day. It was punctuated by two big hands that brought him to the final table with the chip lead, which he never relinquished as he navigated the two-hour-long final table to the title.

A Fast Start

"zivziv" entered Day 2 with the chip lead and a stack of more than 3.6 million, and that number became 7.9 million by the first break of the day by way of knocking out three players. The third of those came as the tournament was going on break, and at that same time, Plesuv knocked out Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz after Holz three-bet shoved eights into Plesuv's ace-king. Plesuv hit an ace on the river and was third in chips as he eliminated Holz in 21st place.

From there, the eliminations slowed down but the action did not. Chips exchanged possession and four players were lost over the next hour to leave 16 left on the second break of the day, though three eliminations quickly came in first level after the break to bring the number of players left in the field down to 13.

It was all Plesuv from there on out: he won a three-way all in with ace-king to knock out Simon "ministerborg" Ravnsbaek (13th place) and Alex "dynoalot" Difelice (12th place) while overtaking the chip lead, and later in that level earned a second double knockout against Maksim "MAMOHT_T" Viktorovich (11th place) and "6omen6" at the exact same time as "Lindk25" was eliminated in ninth place when their aces were cracked via an all-in preflop situation that saw Joao "XxJoaoFeraxX" Otavio's pocket kings make quads.

Two Hours To Victory

Due to three simultaneous eliminations, the final table was reached with just eight players remaining. Nearly a full level went by before Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit shoved ace-jack into the ace-king of Andrew "stato_1" Hulme to take eighth place. It spurred a burst of eliminations, with Tyler "wonderboy222" Goatcher, Stefan "baeks22" Schillhabel, and "NLZWERVERNL" following shortly thereafter to take the field down to four.

Play was then four handed with Plesuv holding the chip lead with a stack of around 18 million. Start-of-Day 2 chip leader "zivziv" was second in chips with 15 million, while Otavio and Hulme each had around 8 million. Nearly two full 20-minute levels went by with Plesuv increasing his stack to over 27 million during that time, which was more than half the chips in play.

Hulme found themselves short and bowed out in fourth place, and another half an hour went by as Plesuv increased his total chips up to 36 million. He then eliminated "zivziv" with pocket nines to pocket threes, and four hands later had won the tournament when his ace-eight held versus the ace-four of runner-up Otavio in an all-in preflop scenario, earning $177,964 for his two days' worth of work in the tournament.
