It took eight hours and a few minutes to reach the money in the 2020 PokerStars SCOOP Event #44-H: $5,200 NLHE [Sunday HR SE] $1M Gtd. The event drew a total of 264 entries (190 entries and 74 re-entries) and generated a prize pool of $1,320,000, which is set to be distributed among the 31 remaining players when Day 2 resumes on Monday at 1 p.m. ET.

”Sintoras” (5.2 million) leads the pack at the end of the day. Their journey to 5 million was punctuated with a double knockout that sent Ismael “Isidinho” Bojang and Joao “Naza114” Vieira” to the virtual rail by way of a flopped set of nines. The pot came with what wound up to be roughly 90 minutes left in the day, and “Sintoras” coasted the rest of the way without anybody truly contesting the chip lead.

Scott “Aggro Santos” Margereson (4.29 million) and Daniel “Oxota” Dvoress (4.22 million) finished the day second- and third in chips, respectively after seeing their chip stacks continue to climb as the evening went on. Both look to be among the many forces to be reckoned with when all advancing players resume their hopeful journeys to victory.

Other notable players to finish within the top 10 include Joel “Odonkor1” Nordkvist (3.21 million), Sergei “Futti8” Koliakov (3.14 million), and Alexandros "mexican222" Kolonias (2.61 million).

However, the bottom two-thirds of the leader board is also stacked with players like Jans “Graftekkel” Arends (2.29 million), Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford (2.21 million), Sam Str8$$$Homey” Greenwood (1.7 million), Kahle “ROFLshove” Burns (1.42 million), and Christian “WATnlos” Rudolph (952,000) being only a few of the names visible in the remaining field.

Many of those who did not advance found themselves out of multiple buy-ins given the tournament’s format to allow two re-entries. Adrian “Amadi_017” Mateos, Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi, Artur “mararthur1” Martirosyan, Steve “Mr. Tim Caum” O’Dwyer, and Fedor “CrownUpGuy” Holz were on the list of players who were already out of the mix when the homestretch loomed near.

One by one, the field dropped and players such as Team PokerStars member Lex “L. Veldhuis” Veldhuis, Ivan “Negriin” Luca, and Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo added their names to the list of those who would not make it to Day 2, and all of a sudden the field reached 32 and hand-for-hand play began. The bubble lasted for roughly half a level until RJYJYR got their last six big blinds in with ace-eight and found themselves unable to beat the pocket nines of Joel “Odonkor1” Nordkvist.

The elimination resulted in Day 1's conclusion with all 31 remaining players making it into the money and being guaranteed at least a first-level payout of $12,025. Play will resume Monday at 1 p.m. ET midway through Level 21 (25,000/50,000/6,000), and everybody’s eyes will be set on the first-place prize of $253,819.

PokerNews has updates coming your way for the rest of the tournament. Be sure to follow along all the way until the next SCOOP champion has been crowned.

Down to their last 280,000, "RJYJYR" shoved in early position and received a call from Joel "Odonkor1" Nordkvist in the cutoff. All remaining players folded.

"RJYJYR": {a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Joel "Odonkor1" Nordkvist {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

'RJYJYR" was at risk of bubbling the tournament and their odds went from bad to worse, and eventually to zero as the board ran out {6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} to result in their elimination from the tournament in 32nd place.

With the elimination, 31 players now remain and the tournament is a break until Day 2 begins at 1 p.m. ET. All remaining players are in the money and have locked up at least a first-level payout of $12,025.

Complete end-of-day chip counts and a recap of the day's action will be provided shortly.

"Sintoras" Scores Double Knockout To Eliminate Bojang and Vieira, Becomes First To 5 Million

Nível 19 : 17,500/35,000, 4,500 ante
"Sintoras"
"Sintoras"

Joao "Naza114" Vieira was on the button and saw action fold around to him. He shoved for 832,000 and Ismael "Isidinho" Bojang called all in for just under 500,000. "Sintoras" was in the big blind and called as well, covering both players by a wide margin.

Ismael "Isidinho" Bojang: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Joao "Naza114" Vieira: {3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}
"Sintoras": {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}

"Sintoras" was ahead and pulled even further out in front on the flop {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. However, they were in the clear just yet as the turn {3-Hearts} gave Vieira a flush draw. The river {7-Clubs} came safe to score the double knockout and become the first player over 5 million in the tournament.

Holz, Addamo, and Ruijs All Depart

Nível 17 : 12,500/25,000, 3,250 ante
Fedor Holz
Fedor Holz

Hand #1: Action folded around to "Anjeyyy" in the hijack, who opened to 50,000. Michael "Imluckbox" Addamo three-bet to 137,500 on the button and then Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz cold four-bet all in for 251,000 in the big blind.

"Anjeyyy" came all in over the top for Addamo's effective stack of 680,000, and Addamo called for the three-way all in to unfold.

Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
Michael "Imluckbox" Addamo: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
"Anjeyyy": {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

"Anjeyyy" became the benefactor of a ten-high runout of {3-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, fading the wheel draw that both Addamo and Holz flopped as the two wound up eliminated from the tournament.

Hand #2: Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson was in the hijack and opened to 55,000. Joris "BillLewinsky" Ruijs three-bet shoved for 530,000 in the small blind and Margereson called upon action making its way back to him.

Scott "Aggro Santos" Margereson: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Joris "BillLewinsky" Ruijs: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Ruijs found himself in a cooler situation and was in need of help as the flop came {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}. The turn {2-Diamonds} gave him a chance at a chop, but the river {k-Clubs} instead brought him a pair of kings that remained second best to Mergereson's aces.

Kanit's Bid Comes To an End

Nível 17 : 12,500/25,000, 3,250 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

2020 SCOOP Event 24-H Champion Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit jammed for 187,000 in early position and action folded around to Mike "SirWatts" Watson, who was in the big blind and called.

Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Mike "SirWatts" Watson: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Kanit found himself having three direct outs and the flop {7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{k-Clubs} took that number up to four despite giving Watson a pair of jacks. The turn {10-Hearts} then turned those four Broadway outs into chop outs, leaving his pair of tens in need of finding a third one to stay alive. It did not come on the river {3-Spades} and Kanit was eliminated from the tournament.

Hand #1: Joao "INeedMassari" Simao raised to 28,000 in early position and "xnrobix" three-bet to 77,000 in the hijack. Action folded back to Simao, who called to take action heads up to a flop of {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. Joao "INeedMassari" Simao: {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
"xnrobix": {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

"xnrobix" was ahead with ace high but needed to fade Simao's live cards and flush draw. the turn {4-Spades} was safe, but the river {5-Clubs} gave Simao a flush and scored him the double.

Hand #2: Moments later on an adjacent table, "ross_654" opened to 31,500 in early position and Joao "Naza114" Vieira
three-bet all in on their direct left for 130,200. Action made its way back to "ross_654" and a call was made.
