spaise411 Wins 2021 WCOOP-22-H: $5,200 NLHE

The 2021 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) has crowned a new first-time champion. Russia's "spaise411" came out on top of a field of 160 entries in WCOOP-22-H: $5,200 NLHE PKO High Roller to claim their maiden WCOOP title, denying the third victory for Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani. Both shared the biggest slice of the $800,000 prize pool, as "spaise411" boosted their bankroll with a combined payday of $149,837.

Little is known about the player from Russia, who surfaced on the high-stakes cash game tables back in 2015 and battled against some of the biggest names in Pot-Limit Omaha Hi and Hi-Lo, as well as draw games. They were in the middle of the pack when the action resumed with 20 players remaining and started the heads-up against Garagnani with a commanding lead despite having collected by far fewer bounties.

Other notable finalists included the 2020 SCOOP Main Event champion Pablo "pabritz" Brito Silva, Andras "probirs" Nemeth, Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph, and Thomas "WushuTM" Muehloecker. PokerStars ambassador Ben "Spraggy" Spragg was eliminated on the final two tables and the same also applied for Patrick "pads1161" Leonard, who had won two WCOOP titles during the current festival already.

The Action of the Final Day

All 20 remaining players had locked up a portion of the cash pool after surviving the money bubble and the deep stack sizes left a lot of wiggle room. Yet, it didn't take long for the field to be whittled down to the final two tables. Teun "tinnoemulder" Mulder was the first casualty of the day when his aces were cracked by the tens of Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani. It was the first sign of things to come, as Garagnani was a proverbial wrecking ball and built a massive bounty prize.

Simon "C. Darwin2" Mattsson fell just shy of the final two tables when Christian "WATnlos" Rudolph rivered a full house with a dominated pocket pair. The first casualty thereafter was then PokerStars ambassador Ben "Spraggy" Spragg, who ran with ace-queen into the ace-king of Garagnani. Patrick "pads1161" Leonard bowed out next when ace-nine couldn't crack the kings of "spaise411" while five-time WCOOP title holder Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski bubbled the final table.

Garagnani kicked off the proceedings by sending Thomas "WushuTM" Muehloecker to the rail and fellow countryman Pablo "pabritz" Brito Silva claimed the next two bounties. The Brazilian rampage continued when Garagnani ousted Rudolph and the hopes of a second WCOOP title for Andras "probirs" Nemeth ended in fifth place.

Down to the final four, it was a battle between Brazil and Russia with two contenders each in the mix. "spaise411" took over the lead from Garagnani without showdown and yet, it was Garagnani who struck next by sending "HITRII999" to the rail in fourth place. "spaise411" gained an overwhelming lead after catching Garagnani bluffing before the Brazilian knocked out Brito Silva in third.

The heads-up battle commenced with a near 3-1 lead for "spaise411" but it didn't take Garagnani to close the gap. He then lost several big pots in a row and eventually came up short of a third title when trips tens were beaten by a straight. "spaise411" only claimed one bounty on the final table but it was the one that mattered the most in order to secure the WCOOP title.

That concludes the PokerNews updates for this event but the next Super Sunday is already around the corner with further exciting offline and online poker tournaments.

Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani Eliminated in 2nd Place ($128,497)

Nível 31 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante
Garagnani eliminated by spaise411
Garagnani eliminated by spaise411

The action started rather innocent with a limped pot to the {10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop on which Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani checked his option. "spaise411" made it 337,500 to go only for Garagnani to check-raise for 936,000 total, which his opponent called.

Garagnani checked the {7-Clubs} turn and called a bet worth 1.8 million to then check the {10-Spades} river with just shy of 7 million behind. "spaise411" moved all-in with the far superior stack and Garagnani called it off with the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for trips tens. However, that was not enough to double as "spaise411" had turned a seven-high straight with {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}.

For the Brazilian, his bid to win a second WCOOP title in 2021 and third overall ended with a runner-up finish. He amassed a huge $56,875 bounty along the way and added $71,712 in cash on top of that.

"spaise411" walks away as the latest WCOOP champion and earns a payday of $149,837. The final result and a recap of the action are to follow.

Nível 31 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

"spaise411" raised on the button to 900,000 and Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani called. "spaise411" bet 900,000 on the {k-Spades}{a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} board and Garagnani called. "spaise411" continued firing for 2.4 million on the {9-Hearts} turn and Garagnani again called. "spaise411" jammed on the {5-Spades} river to put Garagnani all-in for just under 9.5 million and he folded.

Double Check-Raise Works for Garagnani

Nível 31 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

In a limped pot to the {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani check-raised from 300,000 to 900,000 and earned a call from "spaise411". They checked the {9-Clubs} turn and the {5-Diamonds} fell on the river, on which "spaise411" bet 1.8 million into 2.475 million. Garagnani went for a check-raise to 5.4 million and his opponent tank-folded.

Garagnani then lost some of his profit when "spaise411" got some value out of a rivered set of treys with {3-Hearts}{3-Spades} on the {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs} board.

"spaise411" Doesn't Play the Board

Nível 31 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

"spaise411" opened to 900,000 on the button for Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani to call and the Brazilian check-called for 900,000 on the {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop. The {2-Hearts} turn was checked and Garagnani took a stab at the pot by leading the {j-Hearts} river for 1,176,000 into 3,675,000.

"spaise411" snap-called with {q-Hearts}{j-Spades} and caught Garagnani bluffing with the {q-Spades}{5-Spades}.

"spaise411" Wins Pot with Nut Flush

Nível 31 : 150,000/300,000, 37,500 ante

Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani limped from the button and "spaise411" checked in the big blind. Garagnani bet 300,000 on the {4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} flop and "spaise411" called. The turn brought the {4-Spades} and Garagnani bet 1,050,000, which "spaise411" called. Both players checked the {5-Spades} river and "spaise411" turned over {a-Spades}{4-Hearts} for the nut flush, enough to win the 3.4 million pot.

Nível 30 : 125,000/250,000, 32,500 ante

Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani kicked off the action with his signature raise to 625,000 and earned a call by "spaise411" in the big blind. On the {j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop, "spaise411" check-called for 625,000 and the {a-Clubs} turn was checked by both.

There was no betting action on the {2-Spades} river either and "spaise411" tabled {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, which Garagnani had beat with the {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}.

"spaise411" Restores Lead Prior to the Break

Nível 30 : 125,000/250,000, 32,500 ante

The remaining two players are now on a scheduled five-minute break and "spaise411" has regained a small lead over Pedro "pvigar" Garagnani.

They claimed several pots and the largest one came in the final hand. Garagnani raised to 625,000 and then called a three-bet to 2 million. On the {9-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, "spaise411" continued for 1.5 million and that shut down Garagnani right away.
