Latest News from PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona 2019

Welcome to one of the most treasured stops on the PokerStars European Poker Tour, The PokerStars EPT Barcelona at the Casino Barcelona. We have an exciting day of coverage here for you with at least one major winner being crowned today. The final day of the EPT National is about to get started at noon local time.
Out of a massive field of 4682 entries, only 6 players returning to the felt to continue to battle it out.
For those who may have busted the National Main Event today kicks off EPT National High Roller today with twice the buy-in at 2,200 and only two days to crown a champion. Play will be fast and furious and is certainly one of the most anticipated mid-stakes tournaments in Europe.
As is to be expected most eyes will be closely watching Day 2 of the 100k Super High Roller. After 8 levels of play yesterday and 57 entries at least 32 of poker’s greatest minds will come together again today with their sights set on making the Final Table. Registration is open until the start of play so we anticipate a few of those. Leading the way is Ahadpur Khangah with a whopping1.39 Million in chips. He is a dominating chip leader and the only player with a seven-figure number on his bag from a 250,000 starting stack. While Khangah has found recent success here at Casino Barcelona, he is still widely considered to be a recreational player against many of his competitors.

Sitting 5th in chips is Gakuto "Gackt" Oshiro the Japanese music sensation who has made his living as a musician, singer, songwriter, producer, and actor since 1993 and if this buy-in is an indication, he has made a very good living at that. In fact, he holds the male soloist record for most top ten consecutive singles in Japanese music history
How will he translate those skills on the felt? Only time will tell.

Of course many of the names near the top of the chip counts are familiar faces including Sergio Aido, Michael Addamo, Steve O’Dwyer and the Greenwoods Sam and Luc.

Later today the first ever €25K 6+ No-Limit Hold'em or as I Like to call it, (Short Deck) tournament will kick off. As this variant continues to grow in popularity we continue to see it popping up on lots of tournament schedules, so it is not a surprise to see it here at such a well loved stop, and at the €25k price point it is sure to attract some of the biggest names in poker.
The Short Deck, along with the €100k will both conclude tomorrow to make room for the Main Event which will begin its epic journey tomorrow as well.
The stream will start on August 27th with the Chase your dream – Play Against your Heros tournament.
