Hungary's "uzzy993" Bags Day 1 Chip Lead in the 2020 WCOOP Low Main Event at PokerStars

Nível 17 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Day 1 of the four-day WCOOP-72-L: $55 NLHE 8-Max NLHE Main Event at PokerStars was a monumental success with 34,426 entrants generating a $1,721,300 prize pool.

This not only already crushed the $1.25 million guarantee but the prize pool will continue to grow with late registration open until near the start of Day 2 on Monday, Sept. 21 at 3:05 p.m. EDT / 7:05 p.m. CEST.

A total of 8,336 players survived the opening day battle led by Hungary's "uzzy993" with 671,549 in chips. This places him more than 80 big blinds ahead of his nearest competitors in Panama's "yayo8422", Austria's "roman1607", and Germany's "Hering CNG" all bagging slightly more than 500,000 in chips.

Team PokerStars Update

Felix Schneiders
Felix "xflixx" Schneiders bags the most among the PokerStars Ambassadors on Day 1 of the WCOOP Low Main Event

A total of eight PokerStars Ambassadors joined the action with half that making it through to Day 2. Felix "xflixx" Schneiders was the most successful of the pack after growing his 25,000 starting stack into 90,517 in chips using a single entry.

Mason "Pye_Face21" Pye and Georgina "GJReggie" James also both advanced to Day 2 on a single bullet while it took Arlie "Prince Pablo" Shaban three tries before he got through as well.

Meanwhile, Fintan "easywithaces" Hand, Ben "Spraggy" Spragg, and 2019 PSPC Champion Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas were all on unable to advance but it wasn't for a lack of trying with the trio each firing the maximum four bullets.

Tom “MajinBoob” Hayward also didn't advance for Day 1 but called it a day after two bullets. Hayward may still be witnessed back in the field as he like many others can still re-enter until the start of Day 2.

Stay Tuned for Day 2

The action will resume for Day 2 on Monday, Sept. 21 at 1:05 p.m. EDT / 7:05 p.m. CEST and should prove to be an action-packed day. Not only will the big field be trimmed down past the 4,863 players or so that will get paid but deep into the money with the action concluding with just 160 players remaining.

Blind levels will be trimmed down from 20 minutes per level to 15 minutes the rest of the way.

Stay tuned at PokerNews as we bring you the highlights of the WCOOP Low Main Event at PokerStars.

Ramon Colillas

Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas three-bet jammed for about 22,000 with {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and was called by "VIgnasPokerV" with {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

The {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} ran out on the board and Colillas lost his fourth and final bullet.

Shortly after, Arlie "Prince Pablo" Shaban lost all his chips. He went back in for a second bullet and lost that as well. Shaban is now onto his third bullet with time clicking away on Day 1.

Spragg Hits the Rail

Nível 17 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

"SkgalgMSO" opened to 3,200 from under the gun. Ben "Spraggy" Spragg three-bet jammed for 34,050 and "SkgalgMSO" called.

Ben "Spraggy" Spragg: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
"SkgalgMSO": {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The {j-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{3-Spades} came on the flop to give Spragg a better pair than his opponent hit. The {q-Diamonds} followed on the turn to give Spragg two pair. However, the {j-Spades} spiked the river to give "SkgalgMSO" trips and Spragg was ousted for the fourth and final time.

Shortly after, Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas dusted off his third bullet and is now onto his fourth and final bullet.

Final Chance for Spragg

Nível 16 : 700/1,400, 175 ante

Vitor "vitoradiron" Adiron open-jammed his big stack from the small blind with {9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Ben "Spraggy" Spragg called off his stack of 13,412 in the big blind with {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}.

It was looking good for Spragg to double after his opponent whiffed on the {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. However, a {6-Spades} paired up Adiron on the turn and Spragg bricked the {7-Diamonds} river to lose his stack.

Spragg immediately hopped back into the action after the hand for his fourth and final bullet of the WCOOP Low Main Event.

Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

However, Hand bricked the {2-Spades} river and was eliminated for the fourth and final time in the event.

Felix "xflixx" Schneiders: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
"konraad": {4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

WCOOP 2020: Heads up! Ankush Mandavia Wins Third Title in $530 TKO HU Zoom

Nível 11 : 350/700, 90 ante
Ankush Mandavia
Ankush Mandavia

We’ve grown accustomed to seeing the name “pistons87” late in tournaments on PokerStars, whether in series like the 2020 World Championship of Online Poker or at other times.

That’s the nick of Ankush Mandavia, whom we also got used to seeing at the live tourney tables over the years. Mandavia has a couple of EPT trophies collected in Berlin and Prague, plus another won at the PCA a few years back — just a small part of the more than $5 million he’s earned in recorded live cashes.

We can add another online triumph — and a third WCOOP title (to go along with three SCOOPs) — to Mandavia’s résumé, after he took down Event #12-H, the $530 NLHE Heads-Up Turbo Progressive Total KO Zoom.

This Time? Some of the Top Talents Who Have (Inexplicably) Never Won During WCOOP

Nível 10 : 300/600, 75 ante
WCOOP players due
WCOOP Players

Just before the 2018 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) got under way, we took a look at five players who were overdue a victory in poker’s premiere tournament series. There was simply no rational explanation for how come all of Niklas “Lena900” Astedt, Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson, Luke “lb6121” Schwartz, Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi and Tobias “kuhns89” Hausen had not, to that point, won a WCOOP tournament.

Two years on, only Astedt has put it right. He won the $530 PLO 6-Max in 2018 to get the monkey off his back.

Today we’re taking a look at another list of brilliant talents who have not yet won a title during WCOOP. But remember as you read the list of nearly men below that Mattsson, Schwartz, Shakerchi, and Hausen are still looking for that WCOOP title too. Perhaps there’s no real shame in all of this.
