Are These The Most Unstoppable Players in WCOOP History?

Nível 40 : 300,000/600,000, 75,000 ante
WCOOP
WCOOP

Just a couple of short years ago, only one player had accumulated five WCOOP titles.

Since then, the picture has changed quite a lot.

Two excellent MTT pros have now taken the lead, both with insane scores – one player has nine WCOOP titles, and another has eight.

With the WCOOP 2020 upon us, all could change again over the coming weeks, but it’s going to take nothing less than a legendary run if anyone is to join the top of the pack.

So as we look forward to the Series, here are the players who have won the most WCOOP titles so far. You’ll also find out who that five-time winner was.

"JEIK0" raised to 2,000,000 in the hijack and Rasmus "Powergolf" Zerr three-bet shoved 14,843,770 on the button. Back on "JEIK0", he called it off to create the first showdown of the final table.

Rasmus "Powergolf" Zerr: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}
"JEIK0": {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

For the third time tonight, the weaker ace claimed victory as the board rolled out {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{q-Hearts} for "JEIK0" to fill up and eliminate Zerr in ninth.

Two hands after Zerr's elimination, it was short stack Alex "AlexGelinski' Gelinski who got his last crumbs in after an open from Rinat "Zapahzamazki" Lyapin.

Alex "AlexGelinski" Gelinski: {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Rinat "Zapahzamazki" Lyapin: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}

The {7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop was devastating for Gelinski, who needed one of the ducks to remain alive. The {6-Clubs} turn and {6-Hearts} river remained free of any Anatidae and Gelinski hit the rail.

This Time? Some of the Top Talents Who Have (Inexplicably) Never Won During WCOOP

WCOOP Players

Just before the 2018 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) got under way, we took a look at five players who were overdue a victory in poker’s premiere tournament series. There was simply no rational explanation for how come all of Niklas “Lena900” Astedt, Simon “C. Darwin2” Mattsson, Luke “lb6121” Schwartz, Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi and Tobias “kuhns89” Hausen had not, to that point, won a WCOOP tournament.

Two years on, only Astedt has put it right. He won the $530 PLO 6-Max in 2018 to get the monkey off his back.

Today we’re taking a look at another list of brilliant talents who have not yet won a title during WCOOP. But remember as you read the list of nearly men below that Mattsson, Schwartz, Shakerchi and Hausen are still looking for that WCOOP title too. Perhaps there’s no real shame in all of this.

Rinat "Zapahzamazki" Lyapin raised to 2,800,000 second to act and Andy "BowieEffect" Wilson three-bet one seat over to 19,446,000, the majority of his stack.

Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski cold four-bet shoved all in for 32,938,738 from the small blind, Lyapin folded and Wilson called it off to create the biggest pot of the tournament thus far.

Andy "BowieEffect" Wilson: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Dzivielevski had Wilson covered by a hair to put the biggest progressive bounty in play as well. The board came down {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Dzivielevski won the massive race Wilson in 7th place. Dzivielevski received $10,939 for eliminating Wilson.

"Darwinsfish" eliminated in 5th place

Just moments ago, "Darwinsfish" was so close to a huge four-handed lead after flopping a straight flush draw, but was left with just 14 big blinds after bricking it. After folding some hands, he had a little under ten big blinds left and those went in first to act.

From the small blind, Rinat "Zapahzamazki" Lyapin looked him up.

"Darwinsfish": {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Rinat "Zapahzamazki" Lyapin: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

The {j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop all but sealed it for Lyapin, although the {10-Hearts} turn opened up a straight possibility. The {j-Clubs} river slammed that door shut and "Darwinsfish" was gone in fifth.

The final hand
The final hand

After the double-up, small hands were being played with the shallow stacks and Rinat "Zapahzamazki" Lyapin took a slight lead after them before the final hand of the night occurred. It was Lyapin who completed the small blind and Silva who checked his option.

Both players also checked the {9-Spades}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop before the action kicked off on the {a-Spades} turn. Silva checked, Lyapin bet 3,500,000, Silva check-raised to 14,000,000, and Lyapin called.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Silva shoved all in for 58,017,488. Lyapin called and Silva tabled {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a complete airball. Lyapin rolled over {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for a pair of aces to win the tournament on the spot.

Silva received $111,150 after the deal plus a big bounty of $29,150. Lyapin received $107,070 but, as is tradition in a PKO, also walked away with the biggest bounty worth $68,516.
