Korn Gets River Value

Nível 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Andres Korn earlier this week
Andres Korn earlier this week

With about 17,000 chips already in the middle and the completed board reading {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Spades}, Cristian Fernandez was under the gun and had already committed 3,500 chips. Andres Korn was in the hijack and had raised to 18,500, sending Fernandez into the tank. He eventually called and Korn quickly tabled {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} for a rivered queen-high straight. Fernandez mucked and Korn took the pot.

Korn is fresh off a victory in a side event here at the PokerStars Festival Uruguay in which he banked a $15,260 payday. It has been a banner year for the Argentinian grinder; he won his first World Series of Poker bracelet this past summer in the $5,000 buy-in six-max no-limit hold'em event, earning $618,285 for his efforts. The only other bracelet winner to enter this event, Ivan Luca, was recently eliminated.

Fernandez Climbing

Nível 9 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

After a bet and a call on the turn, there were about 25,000 chips in the pot and the complete board read {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades}. PokerStars Team Pro Leo Fernandez was in the cutoff and heads-up against the player in the small blind, who checked. Fernandez tossed out a bet of 20,000, and after a bit of consideration, the small blind called. Fernandez flipped over {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}, the small blind showed {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}, and Fernandez took the pot to put his stack over the 100,000-chip mark.
