Dia 1 Começado
In half an hour from now as of 12 p.m. local time, Day 1 of the 2017 PokerStars Championship Macau HK$82,400 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller will kick off at the PokerStars Live poker room at the City of Dreams. While Omaha is not as popular here in Macau, quite a few familiar names of the international poker circuit, which are no longer in the Main Event, are expected to join the action for double the fun. There will also be an elusive PokerStars Championship trophy up for grabs to attract some notables.
The event comes with a single re-entry option until the start of level 11, at which the registration will close as well, and all levels last 45 minutes each. All players receive a starting stack of 50,000 and the initial blinds at 100-200, a total of 13 levels are scheduled for Day 1 before the tournament will then determine it's champion tomorrow as of 12 p.m. local time. Depending on the field size, there may be alterations to the schedule and number of levels for Day 1 though, so stay tuned for further updates.

The tournament kicked off with a delay of around 1h15, as only three players had been roaming around the tournament area for some time. Then, a few further participants showed up with tickets in their hands and that number became nine, at which point a second table opened.
Among the notables in the mix are Ka Kwan Lau, Jan Collado, Oliver Weis and Quan Zhou. The latter won the HK$ 206,000 Single-Day High Roller last night and is back for more High Roller glory.
The first level passed without any major action, and level two kicked off with identical blinds of 100-200.

The first major pot of the day went to Oliver Weis, who took plenty of chips from Jiwei Deng. Until the river of a board , more than 20,000 were already in the middle, just the odd 100 big blinds. Weis made it 12,500 to go and Deng eventually called to then muck when Weis flashed for the jack-high flush.

Yan Shing "Anson" Tsang has one massive score from here in Macau when he finished 7th in the GuangDong Asia Millions for HK$7,150,000, which back then was worth approximately $921,000. His other cashes combined are less than $25,000 and Tsang just entered the competition and drew a seat on table two.
Since there were already five players there, the next hand was finished and the tables were then balanced to make it five on each, and ten entries in total. Keep in mind that the registration is open for another seven levels and some, so the field may very well increase still.

There were 1,500 in the middle with the flop reading and Quan Zhou checked in the big blind, while Wei Zhao bet 1,000. A third player in the hand folded and Zhou called. Both then quickly checked the turn, before the river brought a fourth heart and paired the board.
Zhou bet 1,500 and Zhao raised to 7,000 in order to force a quick fold from Zhou. Both players have started well into Day 1 and already built their stacks well above the initial 50,000, but as usual the swings of Omaha can change that in the matter of just a few hands.

Only Weis called and the duo from Germany then checked the turn and the river. Weis announced two pair and showed for aces and nines to claim the pot.
