Negreanu Misfires

Nível 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Graham Decoste with Daniel Negreanu
Graham Decoste with Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu was noticeably missing from his seat in the PCA Main Event so we went to his table to find out what had happened.

According to Simon Deadman, a player raised to 400 and Negreanu three-bet to 1,700 with {7-}{7-}. Deadman then four-bet to 5,500 with {a-}{a-}, the original raiser folded, and Negreanu moved in for 8,700 total.

"I gambled and called with the aces," Deadman deadpanned.

Negreanu failed to catch up and that was it for him. He hit the rail and immediately plunged himself into some interviews.

Earlier in the day, Negreanu said that he would finish the day with 108,575, but perhaps he was calling his shot for a different tournament because Negreanu's run in this year's PCA Main Event is now over.

One for the 2013 PCA Champ

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Dimitar Danchev
Dimitar Danchev

With 1,600 in the pot and a flop of {j-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, Scott Wilson checked from under the gun and 2013 PCA champ Dimitar Danchev checked behind from early position.

The action repeated itself on the {3-Diamonds} turn, and Wilson checked for a third time on the {4-Clubs} river.

Danchev bet 1,000 and Wilson called with the {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. It was no good though as Danchev held the {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for a winning pair of jacks.

Chris Hunichen Finds a Much Needed Double Up

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Adrian Mateos opened with a raise to 500 from under the gun. Action folded around where Luis Villalobos on the button reraised, making it 1,750. Chris Hunichen was in the small blind and he then moved all in over the top for 7,850 total. Mateos quickly released while Villalobos called and the two players turned up their hands.

Hunichen: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Villalobos: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

"I usually feel pretty good in this spot," Hunichen said. "But I don't know right now."

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} which put Hunichen far in the lead, removing some of Villalobos' outs. The turn was the {10-Spades} and the river was the {3-Clubs} which were both safe. That allowed Hunichen to earn a full double up and put himself back into the thick of it with a little more than half of what he started with.

Another Pot for Morris Kadylo

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Martins Adeniya raised to 500 from middle position and the player in the hijack three-bet to 1,600. Morris Kadylo flatted from the cutoff, the button and blinds all folded, and Adeniya called to make it three-way action to the {5-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Spades} all-spade flop.

Two checks aw Kadylo bet 1,600, and that was enough to take it down as the other two players folded.

Jack Sinclair Picks the Wrong Battle

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Maurice Hawkins and Lawrence Greenberg
Maurice Hawkins and Lawrence Greenberg

From middle position, Maurice Hawkins opens with a raise to 575. Jack Sinclair is on the button and he three-bets, making it 1,700. The player in the small blind calls, as does Hawkins so the three head to a flop.

The board comes down {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} and all three players check to see the {10-Clubs} on the turn. There, the small blind checks. Hawkins leads out, betting 2,100. Sinclair calls while the small blind folds.

The river is the {10-Spades} and Hawkins bets 2,250. Sinclair takes one last look at his cards, then folds. Hawkins then turns up the {3-Diamonds} and flicks it towards Sinclair.

"You might want to pick the right battle, buddy," Hawkins says to Sinclair.

"You could still have ten-three," Sinclair jokes back.

"There are other battles to be had buddy, and this is not the right one," Hawkins continues. "There's so many battles to be had in this room and this is not the one you want."

Maximilian Gruenberger Doubles Through Justin Bonomo AIPF

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante
Maximilian Gruenberger
Maximilian Gruenberger

We missed the preflop raising war unfold, but we do know it resulted in German PokerStars qualifier Maximilian Gruenberger getting his stack of 21,775 all in against Justin Bonomo, who last night finished runner-up to Cary Katz in the 2018 PCA $100,000 Super High Roller.

Bonomo: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Gruenberger: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

Gruenberger got up out of his chair, and he had to sweat it when the {4-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop delivered Bonomo a flush draw. Fortunately for Gruenberger, neither the {7-Spades} turn nor {5-Spades} river hurt him and he shipped the double.

Haxton Enters; Haxton Exits

Nível 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Isaac Haxton was one of the most recent entries into the Main Event, and now he is one of the most recent exits as well. We caught up to Haxton in a pot against one opponent on a board showing {10-Spades}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}. With 1,650 already in the pot, Haxton was first to act. He put out a bet that was a bit less than the size of the pot before his opponent, Jianguo Zhou, raised, making it 4,500. Haxton then raised to 10,000 and Zhou shoved all in quickly.

"Well, alright," Haxton said, calling for the rest of his stack, which was less than Zhou's shove.

Zhou: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Haxton: {9-Spades}{8-Spades}

Zhou had flopped top set, but Haxton still had out to both a straight or a flush. The turn was the {4-Clubs} which didn't change anything and the river was the {9-Clubs} which paired Haxton, but didn't improve him enough. He hits the rail and that will be it for Haxton's tenure in this year's Main Event.
