Johannes Becker Wins the €25,000 Super High Roller II

The second €25,000 Super High Roller of the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Germany festival at the King's Casino in Rozvadov once again met the guarantee of €1 million and eventually attracted a field of 45 entries, which includes 13 re-entries. The top six spots were guaranteed a portion of the €1,068,750 prize pool with the min cash set at €60,000, while the winner was to walk away with €400,000 for the efforts.

All finalists opted to play down to a winner instead of keeping the scheduled two-day structure in order to have a chance at playing the upcoming €50,000 Super High Roller and it took until the early morning hours to determine a champion. Once there were only three players left, Johannes Becker, Stefan Schillhabel and Niall Farrell agreed on deal numbers and a blind flip saw chip leader Becker win the final hand to claim the biggest payday and trophy.

While Becker only has a few cashes on the live circuit to his name, they definitely come with plenty of prestige. Last summer, the German finished 2nd in the 2017 WSOP $50,000 Poker Players Championship for $862,649 and also scooped a trophy in a partypoker LIVE festival after taking down the partypoker Eurasian Poker Tour (EAPT) €25,500 Kings Super High Roller for €500,000.

Becker adds further €320,050 to his poker resume, while High Roller regular Schillhabel will cross $9 million in live earnings with his payday of €267,800. Triple Crown Champion Farrell nursed a short stack throughout the final table and finished in third, collecting €225,900 for his efforts. After finishing 2nd to Patrik Antonius in the first €25,000 Super High Roller, Joao Simao this time came 4th and fellow partypoker ambassador Patrick Leonard followed just behind in 5th place. Manig Loeser, who had bubbled the previous event, locked up a min-cash of €60,000.

Johannes Becker Wins the €25,000 Super High Roller II

A single re-entry was available during the first nine levels and among those to fire two bullets and bust without anything top show for were Orpen Kisacikoglu, Leon Tsoukernik, Mikalai Vaskaboinikau, Chi Zhang and Koray Aldemir. Patrik Antonius, who won the first €25,000 Super High Roller the previous night, once again joined at the last possible moment and was unable to repeat his victory after running with ace-queen into the pocket nines of Arne Ruge and the pocket aces of Steve O'Dwyer.

Other notables that failed to make the money were Jean-Noel Thorel, Dietrich Fast, Vladimir Troyanovskiy, last night's third-place finisher Renato Nowak, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and team partypoker member Philipp Gruissem. The latter took a flip with ace-queen against the pocket fives of Niall Farrell and failed to get there, missing out on the unofficial final table. Hans Thumann and Bartlomiej Machon followed Gruissem to the rail to set up the money bubble and it was Christoph Vogelsang that last left without anything to show for.

Vogelsang moved all in for fewer than eight big blinds with pocket nines and Johannes Becker called with king-eight to immediately spike a king on the flop. The money bubble had barely burst when Manig Loeser headed to the payout desk. The bubble boy of the first edition sneaked into the money with a short stack and his ace-eight ended up second-best to Patrick Leonard's ace-jack, both players paired their kicker on the flop.

After losing a big pot to Johannes Becker, partypoker ambassador Patrick Leonard was left short and doubled once through Stefan Schillhabel before his nemesis Becker dealt the final blow to the Brit. It was a flip with the pocket fours for Leonard and the king-ten of Becker flopped best to reduce the field to the last four.

The second partypoker ambassador in the money recorded back-to-back final table finishes. Fewer than 24 hours ago, Joao Simao was battling with Patrik Antonius for the title and eventually had to settle for second place, this time the Brazilian was ousted in 4th place. Down to 12 big blinds he shoved with pocket nines and Johannes Becker called with pocket queens. A queen on the flop all but sealed it for the German, and the runner runner miracle never happened for Simao.

Farrell doubled twice and soon after the last three players looked into deal numbers. Once they shook hands, a blind flip followed and chip leader Becker flopped best with king-deuce suited to end the tournament at 2 a.m. local time.

Three-Way Flip

More high stakes action follows right away on Monday February 12th 2018, as Day 1 of the €50,000 Super High Roller kicks off at noon. The PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor to provide all the action for the two-day event.

Nível 22 : 175,000/350,000, 350,000 ante
Joao Simao
Joao Simao

The partypoker Ambassador, Joao Simao, shoved all in from the cutoff. Johannes Becker asked for a count and the dealer confirmed it was 4,150,000 in total. Becker called from the button. Stefan Schillhabel and Niall Farrell quickly folded.

Joao Simao: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Johannes Becker: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop came {5-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades} to give Becker a set of queens. The turn brought the {K-Spades} to give Simao a gutshot straight draw. The river completed the board with the {6-Diamonds} and Simao was eliminated in 4th place. Together with his 2nd place finish in the first Super High Roller, this has probably been one of his best weekends ever, in regards to live poker results.

Patrick Leonard raised to 1,300,000 from the hijack and both Niall Farrell and Joao Simao folded. Johannes Becker eyed the remainder of Leonard's stack which was about 550,000. Becker raised to 2,300,000. Stefan Schillhabel folded his big blind and Leonard called.

Johannes Becker: {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Patrick Leonard: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

The board ran out {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Spades} to end the deep run of the partypoker Ambassador for today. Leonard received a payout of €85,000 for his efforts.

Manig Loeser had shoved all in from the small blind after Stefan Schillhabel had raised on the button. Patrick Leonard asked for a count and the dealer confirmed that Loeser had 1,475,000 behind. Leonard called and Schillhabel looked at Loeser's stack again. He checked the count and then decided to fold.

Patrick Leonard: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Manig Loeser: {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

The flop came {8-Spades}{j-Spades}{6-Diamonds} to still give both of them a pair. The turn brought them the {K-Spades} which didn't change the situation much, Loeser needed an eight to stay alive. The {7-Spades} on the turn wasn't that and Loeser was sent to the payout desk to collect a paycheck of €60,000.

Christoph Vogelsang Bubbles the Second €25,000 Super High Roller

Nível 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Christoph Vogelsang
Christoph Vogelsang

Christoph Vogelsang shoved all in from the hijack and action folded to Johannes Becker in the big blind. Becker asked how much Vogelsang had, the dealer confirmed that Vogelsang had 1,550,000 in total. Becker glanced at his own chips and then called.

Johannes Becker: {K-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Christoph Vogelsang: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Clubs} to give Becker a pair of kings on the flop and Vogelsang didn't get any help on the turn or river. This meant that Vogelsang was eliminated in seventh place and was sent to the rail without any cash. For the six remaining players, this means that they're guaranteed at least €60,000 for their efforts today.

From the looks of it, it seems that all six players are content to continue on playing until the winner has been decided.

Machon's Stack is Melted

Nível 19 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Bartlomiej Machon
Bartlomiej Machon

Stefan Schillhabel kicked off the new level with two raises, 550,000 from the small blind and 475,000 from the button, and claimed the blinds and antes without resistance.

Johannes Becker made it 400,000 to go and Bartlomiej Machon called out of the big blind. On a flop of {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, Machon checked and subsequently check-raised all in for 2.175 million after Becker had bet 300,000. The quick call of the German followed and Machon was in need of help.

Bartlomiej Machon: {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Johannes Becker: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}

Neither the {2-Clubs} turn nor the {5-Clubs} river improved Machon and he was sent to the rail just shy of the money.

Hans Thumann
Hans Thumann

Stefan Schillhabel raised to 350,000 from under the gun and short stack Hans Thumann called from the big blind. On the {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop, Thumann moved all in for what appeared to be 1.8 million and Schillhabel called.

Hans Thumann: {K-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Stefan Schillhabel: {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Thumann had a flush draw and one over card to Schillhabel's top pair, and the {3-Spades} turn provided some more outs for the Czech. However, the {J-Hearts} on the river was a blank and that set up the official eight-handed final table. A group picture will be taken shortly while the event is still two spots away from the money.

Renato Nowak
Renato Nowak

Renato Nowak made it 200,000 to go and called a three-bet to 425,000 by Patrick Leonard. The {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop was checked through before Nowak bet the {10-Diamonds} turn for 500,000, Leonard called. On the {J-Diamonds} river, Nowak moved all in for approximately 1.4 million and Leonard called.

"Do you have a king?" Nowak asked and didn't want to show his cards just yet. Leonard nodded and Nowak then turned over {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for top pair. Leonard had the better kicker with {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and jumped into the lead with 11 players remaining. "Hah, take it, good bye," Nowak said before heading to the rail.
