Steve O'Dwyer Leads the Final 59 Players in $25,500 MILLIONS World

Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Heading into Day 3 of the $25,500 MILLIONS World, there are just 59 players remaining with a shot at becoming a new millionaire. The 2018 Caribbean Poker Party at the Baha Mar Resort in the Bahamas has been filled with fun and games for the players, but it's time to get down to some serious business with some big money on the line.

A regular on the high roller scene, Steve O'Dwyer, will carry the chip lead into Day 3. O'Dwyer moved near the top of the leaderboard after the dinner break on Day 2, and then vaulted himself into a massive lead in the last few hands of the night. He will bring 25,650,000 with him to the table that will become the feature table after the first break of the day. Along with O'Dwyer, the table will consist of other high-stakes pros such as Alex Foxen, Manig Loeser, Rainer Kempe, and Davidi Kitai.

The field has been filled with notable names from start to finish and there are plenty more players to keep an eye on. Chance Kornuth held the lead after Day 1a and currently sits in second place with 18,245,000. Another American, Ben Tollerene, rounds out the top three stacks with 17,210,000. There are still three partypoker pros still in the field including Jason Koon (6,705,000), Joao Simao (6,470,000), and Isaac Haxton (1,370,000).

The money bubble is not far off the radar with just 39 players making the money. That is only 20 eliminations away and that could slow down the action as it approaches. A min-cash will be worth $60,000 but everyone will have their sights set on the first-place prize of $2,000,000. The top three finishers will each earn a seven-figure payday.

There are 10 levels on the schedule for today but the action will likely come to an end once the final table is reached. The blinds will resume on level 19 starting at 60,000/120,000 and a 120,000 big blind ante. They will continue to be 60 minutes in length with a 15-minute break after every two levels. There will also be a 90-minute dinner break after the sixth level of the day.

The PokerNews live reporting team will be on site to bring you exclusive partypoker specific coverage of the event.

Tsoukernik Spikes a One Outer in a Massive Pot

Nível 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Leon Tsoukernik
Leon Tsoukernik

The action on Day 3 got started with a bang and Leon Tsoukernik was jumping in celebration just moments into the first level. When we arrived at the table, the cards were spread across the felt and players were gathering around to see what all of the commotion was about. Well, it was definitely warranted!

The board read {q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and there were three hands tabled. According to the table, all of the chips got in the middle on the flop and for good reason. Jason Koon was all in for a little over 6,000,000 with {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, Christopher Kruk was all in for around 9,500,000 with {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, and Leon Tsoukernik had both players covered with {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Koon held the best hand on the flop with a set of eights, Kruk turned the best hand with the nut flush, but Tsoukernik rivered quads to eliminate both opponents.

"Yes! What a start!" Tsoukernik exclaimed as he clapped his hands. "I can't believe it!" Koon and Kruk were left shaking their heads as they left the table.

"I'll see you in the $250k," Kruk said.

Once Tsoukernik was awarded the pot, he had more to say. "How much was that pot, anyway? I'm the chipleader for sure!" Indeed Tsoukernik has moved into the chip lead for the time being. "They should have ordered coffee, too. They would still be here."

"I would like to change my order to a coffee," Jonathan Jaffe responded.

Haxton Doubles; Teska in the Lead

Nível 21 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

The action has slowed down quite a bit compared to the start of the day as everyone is looking to make sure they guarantee themselves some money. The short stacks have tightened right up but the big stacks are trying to take advantage of that. A couple of the big stacks collided in a pot with Chance Kornuth and Roger Teska duking out. Orpen Kisacikoglu opened to 325,000 and Kornuth three-bet to 1,100,000 on the button. Teska called from the big blind and Kisacikoglu folded.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Teska check-called a bet of 800,000 from Kornuth. The {q-Diamonds} landed on the turn and both players checked to the {9-Hearts} on the river. Teska checked again and Kornuth splashed in a bet of 2,750,000. Teska took a moment to think about it but dispatched his cards before his 30 seconds was up.

A few tables over, Cary Katz raised to 400,000 and Isaac Haxton shoved all in for 3,090,000 on his left. Edward Lin was in the big blind and moved all in over the top which forced Katz to quickly fold. Haxton turned over {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and was in a great position against the {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} of Lin.

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Haxton held on for a crucial double up. There are still currently 42 players remaining, just three off making the money.

On a side note, the last starting flight of the $5,300 Main Event is currently underway. Over the course of the three days thus far, there are a total of 789 entries. With a $10 million guaranteed prizepool, the tournament is hoping to attract at least 2,000 entries. Late registration will remain open for the first four levels on each of the Day 2s so there is still time to make your way to the Bahamas to get in on the action!

This Hand is the Nuts!

Nível 22 : 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

While there haven't been any eliminations in the past 90 minutes, there is no shortage of action and excitement where Leon Tsoukernik is concerned. On a board reading {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, the action was checked to Tsoukernik who bet 1,700,000 on the button. Chance Kornuth check-raised to 4,700,000 and Tsoukernik instantly folded. Kornuth showed {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} as he laughed about his bluff but Tsoukernik responded by showing {3-Hearts}{2-Spades}.

"We're the only ones playing around here," Kornuth said. "Everyone else is nitting it up."

In the very next hand, Kornuth opened to 450,000 and Tsoukernik was the only one to give him action. The flop came {a-Clubs}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} and both players checked to the {6-Spades} on the turn. Kornuth fired out a bet of 800,000 and Tsoukernik called to see the {6-Hearts} on the river. Kornuth checked this time and Tsoukernik bet 1,700,000. Kornuth looked him up and Tsoukernik showed {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} again, this time for a full house.

Katz Eliminated on the Bubble

Nível 23 : 125,000/250,000, 250,000 ante
Cary Katz bubble
Cary Katz bubble

While there was an all-in and a call on the feature table, another big pot was also brewing on an outer table between Matt Berkey and Mike Watson. Berkey opened to 550,000 in middle position and Mike Watson called from the cutoff. The flop came {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Berkey continued for 1,350,000 which Watson called.

The {a-Diamonds} landed on the turn and both players checked to the {j-Hearts} on the river. Berkey threw in a bet of 2,850,000 and Watson used up a time extension before making the call. Berkey flipped over {q-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a straight and Watson mucked his cards.

Now all of the focus was back on the feature table with Cary Katz all in from the big blind. He was up against Chance Kornuth on the button but would need some help to stay alive. Katz held {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} but Kornuth woke up with a monster with {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades} which provided no help for Katz as of yet. The {q-Hearts} on the turn meant Katz was looking for one of two remaining fives in the deck. The river brought the {a-Spades} and Katz was unable to improve as he was eliminated on the money bubble. The remaining 39 players are all guaranteed at least a min-cash of $60,000.

Addamo Eliminates Two Before Dinner

Nível 24 : 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

Michael Addamo has been taking care of business on his table and shrinking the field single-handedly. After just taking out Laszlo Bujtas, Addamo clashed with Preben Stokkan. The two players got all of the chips in the middle preflop and it was Addamo in a great position.

Michael Addamo: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Preben Stokkan: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and Addamo held to score another knockout. With that, the field has dwindled to just 25 players prior to the dinner break. Noam Yahav and Davidi Kitai were the other players to recently be eliminated.

The player will now be taking a 90-minute dinner break with the action slated to resume around 8:30 p.m.

Tollerene Makes Broadway in a Massive Pot

Nível 25 : 175,000/350,000, 300,000 ante
Ben Tollerene
Ben Tollerene

The players just recently returned from dinner break but it didn't long for the chips to start flying. Ben Tollerene opened to 700,000 in the cutoff and was called by Leon Tsoukernik on the button and Chance Kornuth in the big blind.

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and the action checked around to the {a-Hearts} on the turn. Kornuth and Tollerene checked again and Tsoukernik bet 2,000,000 this time. Kornuth called and Tollerene check-raised to 7,000,000. Tsoukernik made a quick call and Kornuth got out of the way.

The river was the {2-Spades} and Tollerene announced a bet of 14,000,000. Tsoukernik leaned back in his chair and thought for over a minute, using up a time extension before sliding in a call. Tollerene turned over {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for a Broadway while Tsoukernik showed {a-Spades}{10-Spades} for two pair. Tsoukernik, who was the chipleader, fell down the leaderboard while Tollerene scooped a massive pot.

Haxton's Elimination Brings the Field to Two Tables

Nível 26 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

Just a few hands after losing a big pot to Leon Tsoukernik, Chance Kornuth was unable to turn things around as he was ousted from the MILLIONS World event along with Matt Berkey. There were just 17 players remaining, only one away from combining to the final two tables.

Isaac Haxton raised it up from the cutoff and Ben Tollerene called on the button. The two players saw a flop of {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and both checked to the {8-Clubs} on the turn. That is when all of the chips got in the middle but Haxton was disappointed to see the cards. Tollerene turned over {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a straight while Haxton held pocket kings. The {8-Hearts} on the river changed nothing and the field was narrowed down to just two tables.

Isaac Haxton was the last partypoker pro remaining but he will have to settle for a 17th place finish. Meanwhile, Tollerene has amassed a stack of over 72,000,000, three times the average stack in the tournament.

O'Dwyer Rivers a Straight

Nível 26 : 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Not long after the final two tables were formed, Steve O'Dwyer raised to 900,000 from middle position. Ajay Chabra three-bet to 2,800,000 in the cutoff and O'Dwyer called. The flop came {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and O'Dwyer checked to Chabra who continued for another 2,800,000. O'Dwyer check-raised all in and Chabra called off his stack of 12,200,000.

O'Dwyer turned over {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a straight draw and was up against the {q-Spades}{q-Hearts} of Chabra. The turn brought the {8-Spades} to give O'Dwyer some more outs and the {5-Diamonds} on the river completed his straight. Chabra exited the feature table in 16th place, good enough for $120,000.

Not far behind him, was Anthony Spinella from the outer table. Spinella was eliminated in 15th place leaving just 14 players remaining heading into the last break of the night. Here is how the remaining players stack up moving forward.

Tsoukernik Bluffs His Chips Away

Nível 27 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Leon Tsoukernik
Leon Tsoukernik

The players just returned from their last break of the night and there have already been two eliminations. The action folded to Leon Tsoukernik in the small blind who bumped it up to 1,500,000. Steve O'Dwyer three-bet to 5,000,000 in the big blind and Tsoukernik snap-called.

The flop came {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Tsoukernik led out for 5,000,0000 which O'Dwyer called. The turn brought the {6-Spades} and Tsoukernik fired another 5,000,000. O'Dwyer called again and the {a-Hearts} completed the board. Tsoukernik thought for a bit and then announced all in for 23,300,000. O'Dwyer went into the tank for well over three minutes before making the call. Tsoukernik turned over {q-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a bluff while O'Dwyer called him down with {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

Tsoukernik was ousted in 14th place and it was not long after that Michael Addamo was eliminated in 13th place. Addamo was the short stack on the outer table and was unable to spin up his stack. Charles La Boissonniere and Rainer Kempe have been the big movers on that table over the past level.
