Markin First Player Eliminated

Nível 2 : 100/200, 25 ante
Leonid Markin
Leonid Markin

We’ve already lost one player in today’s field and it just so happens to be Leonid Markin. Markin won the €50,000 Super High Roller last Thursday but he was unable to continue his good form in this event.

We arrived at the table to find the board spread out {j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Ismail Erkenov raking in a pot worth nearly 100,000. His {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} got the better of Markin’s {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} resulting in the first player hitting the rail.

With everyone having a chance to re-enter at least once into this event it will be interesting to see if Markin fires his second bullet.

Metaal Hits Pure Two Outer to Double Up

Nível 3 : 150/300, 25 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Govert Metaal is an easily identifiable player with his slick hair and a posh fedora on. He's a regular on the European Poker Tour (Super) High Rollers as well, so we had our eyes on him from the get go. That, and we speak the same language.

Metaal didn't start out too good today losing a rather big hand to an opponent with top set. It almost really went sour as he just got it in with just two outs left in the deck and only one card to go.

Metaal told us he had an open raise to 1,300 and a call in front of him and he squeezed to 4,800 with pocket nines. Both opponents made the call and Metaal bet 7,500 on {J-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{3-}. Just one opponent stuck around.

A {5-} fell on the turn and Metaal's opponent checked. The number 11 of the Dutch All Time Money List shoved all in and got called. It turned out Metaal's opponent had pocket fives for a turned set and Metaal was in dire straits for one of the two remaining nines in the deck.

Well, wouldn't you know it, the river was a nine and Metaal got what he asked for; a rivered set, and so he doubled. His opponent was left behind with about 16,000.

Haxton Trusts Opponent

Nível 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

The action started with the player in the cut off raising to 600. He was called by Ihar Soika on the button before Isaac Haxton bumped it up to 2,700 from the small blind. Both players called before the dealer produced the {7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop.

Haxton thought for half a minute before betting out 5,100 and was only called by the player in the cut off. When the {5-Hearts} fell on turn, Haxton took a little longer to slide out another 11,500 in chips. His opponent made the call before the {a-Hearts} completed the board.

Haxton reached for his chips and bet out 14,000 before his opponent splashed out a raise of 30,000 which had the PokerStars Team Pro covered.

For a few minutes Haxton looked puzzled, trying to contemplate what he was going to do. He sat back in his chair and shuffled chips in his hand, all whilest looking at the board and his opponent.

“I can’t really see how I can fold but I do believe you,” said Haxton.”Im feeling very trusty,” he added.

He picked up all his remaining chips in one hand and almost forced himself to call before tossing his cards into the muck instead.

“Show me the bluff! Show me the bluff,” he begged after the hand, as h watched his opponent muck his hand and rake in the pot.

Mandavia Busts Haxton

Nível 5 : 200/400, 50 ante
Isaac Haxton
Isaac Haxton

Right before the break we walked up to Isaac Haxton's table, but the Team PokerStars Pro Online player just got up and left the tournament area. He might be back later, but he'll have to pony up another €10,000 to get back in the tournament.

Ankush Mandavia was busy stacking the chips. Upon request he told us that Haxton had opened from middle position to 700 and the cutoff had three bet to 1,500. From the small blind Mandavia had made it 5,100 with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and Haxton had shoved for 14,200. The cutoff folded but Mandavia made the call.

Haxton had turned out to go to battle with {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} but wouldn't win the showdown. Mandavia, who started a little late after a long night of online poker, already up to 65,000.

A Leopard Can't Change Its Spots

Nível 6 : 300/600, 75 ante
Ole Schemion
Ole Schemion

Ole Schemion is up to his old tricks again. That trick is easy to describe (amassing chips), hard to learn.

On a flop of {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{8-Spades} Schemion was seen betting 3,150 from the cutoff. His opponent on the button, Patrick Sacrispeyre, threw in two 5,000 chips. We're not sure if he made it 10,000 or said a number he wanted to raise to with that move. We are sure that Schemion three bet to 17,150 though. Sacrispeyre thought for a minute or two before moving in. Schemion snap called.

Patrick Sacrispeyre: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Ole Schemion: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

The turn and river didn't help Sacrispeyre and the man from Morocco made his way to the exit. Schemion was still stacking chips minutes later.

"Lets Make a Deal" - Lets Not

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
David Boyaciyan
David Boyaciyan

Chris Hunichen opened from middle position and David Boyaciyan three bet on the button to 4,000. Sotirios Koutoupas, who finished runner up to Ramzi Jelassi in the Prague Main Event two years ago when Boyaciyan finished third, cold called from the big blind. Hunichen made the call as well.

Koutoupas and Hunichen checked on {9-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{A-Spades} and Boyaciyan bet 3,800 in position. Koutoupas instantly folded, Hunichen made the call. Hunichen check called another 7,200 without giving it too much seat on the {J-Hearts} turn. The {7-Spades} on the river made Hunichen check again and Boyaciyan bet out 15,100 with 15,000 behind.

Hunichen needed some time and started talking after some minutes. "Lets make a deal; if I fold I'll show you what I had, if you show what you had." No response from Boyaciyan who was sitting there relaxed, playing a bit with the toothpick in his mouth.

Hunichen continued "Can you beat a set? You have kings or ace-king?" Still no reply from Boyaciyan. "Do you really have kings?" asked Hunichen.

Eventually the American folded and Boyaciyan quietly mucked. "Show the bluff and you're my hero!" laughed Hunichen. "[I'm] not good enough to bluff" said Boyaciyan with a mysterious smirk on his face. "Yeah you are, you might have pulled one right there!" Hunichen replied. "Not good enough to bluff" replied Boyaciyan again with a little bit bigger smile this time around.

"I made the same laydown on the same runout in Florida in the $10 Million. I was wrong there, really makes me wonder," Hunichen said now to no one in particular. "Cant always be a bluff" replied the new button. In the meantime, the next hand was dealt, Boyaciyan was done stacking, and Hunichen raised again. Boyaciyan is up to 65,000 in chips.

"ElkY" Makes a Straight Flush, Metaal Can Muck his Full House

Nível 7 : 400/800, 100 ante
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (photo: Main Event)
Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (photo: Main Event)

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier opened before the flop and Metaal made the call in position. Andrey Andreev in the small blind came along for the ride as well.

Andreev checked to "ElkY" on {Q-Hearts}{A-Spades}{10-Hearts} and the French PokerStars Team Pro bet out 2,500. Metaal made the call, Andreev called again also.

All three of them checked the {A-Clubs} on the turn and so the {9-Hearts} was seen without a charge. Andreev checked again and Grospellier bet out 12,200. Metaal thought for a little bit, and than just called. Andreev called instantly as well.

Grospellier proudly showed his {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a straight flush. Metaal confidently turned over {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and only saw mili seconds later that he was beat. Andreev double checked his cards one last time, flashed at least an ace (we couldn't see the other card), and mucked as well.

Grospellier and Metaal laughed and discussed how the hand could have turned out differently if Metaal had raised the flop, bet the turn, or raised the river.

"Be a Man Steve, Yes or No? Flush?" - Kabrhel Cabaret Ends with O'Dwyer Winning Big Hand

Nível 9 : 600/1,200, 100 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

In one of the last hands before the break Martin Kabrhel opened to 2,000 and Dmitry Nemirovsky made the call in the cutoff. Steve O'Dwyer in the big blind came along for the ride and the flop came {10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{J-Clubs}.

O'Dwyer checked, Kabrhel bet 3,000, Nemirovsky folded, O'Dwyer called. O'Dwyer check called another 8,000 on the {Q-Diamonds} turn and the {7-Clubs} fell on the river. O'Dwyer bet out 22,000 and now the big show started.

While O'Dwyer gave Kabrhel his famous death stare, Kabrhel started a monologue. "Flush?" he asked to a non answering O'Dwyer, "Flush?" Still no reply from O'Dwyer.

"Time table 18!" shouted the dealer. Not only O'Dwyer wasn't replying, no floor answered either. "Time table 18!"

"It's ok, no worry" said Kabrhel with a kind of serious face, "Yeah... Time table 18!" repeated the dealer.

"So Steve, you want a call or not?"

"Time table 18!"

"Be a man Steve, yes or no? Flush?"

In the meantime a floor finally had come over and had given Kabrhel the one minute countdown warning. "One? Really?" said Kabhrel with a not too serious tone of voice as he had been given the notice many times before in his long poker career. "But I need advice from Steve! So yes or no?"

O'Dwyer was listening, but wasn't saying a damn thing. "You don't speak with me? No? Why not? asked Kabrhel.

With just a few second to go Kabrhel made the call. O'Dwyer immediately tabled {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades} for the full house.

"I was asking you!" said Kabrhel with a smile. "I know," said O'Dwyer "but I just wanted to hear you talk."

"Nice call pre flop. I like it. Nice call pre flop" said a now somewhat bitter sounding Kabrhel. "That was the only reason I called, because I thought you fold that shit pre flop."

O'Dwyer just stacked the chips and left Kabrhel blaze it off a bit. The home town player stood up from the table and went for a little walk. O'Dwyer is up to about 170,000, Kabrhel still has well over 100,000 left.
